Kzoo 6
Wab 46 Final

Still no word on Gheny's OT. Also curious if anyone has any comment on OWU.

Dominant performance  by Wabash - 151 total yards given up on defense.  K'zoo given gift with tipped pass INT on Wabash 11, which they converted into their only TD.

Next up - Wash. U - bring on the Bears!

Earlham 69, Manchester 62, 2:00 left in 4Q

Couple of defensive stalwarts here...

Vince McMahon

Gheny falls in overtime 12-9.  2 fumbles in their own end, 2 missed fg's and a missed PAT killed them today.  Tarquinio didn't play.  Apparently, he's got a knee injury that will keep him out for the next 4-6 weeks.  I haven't seen the box score, but from what I heard on the radio, the Gators outgained another opponent, but just couldn't capitalize on a few good drives.  This was the third straight year this game went to OT.  Doesn't get any easier next week at W&J.

Wabash did not punt all day.  Was 2 for 3 on fourth down.  So I guess we can't tell too much about our punt team yet.

Comments on the OWU-Thiel game:

Thiel had a balanced running/passing attack with only a couple of miscues.  OWU outplayed Thiel on special teams - recovering a muffed punt, blocking a punt for a safety and connecting on more PATs, although Thiel did a great job on kickoff returns.  Thiel's secondary didn't seem to show up until mid way through the third quarter when they intercepted a Sir Louis pass which ultimately was converted into a touchdown and opened up a two score lead on OWU.  Earlier, OWU had victimized the secondary on  two painfully wide open  touchdown passes of 52 & 79 yards.   Penalties also contributed to the close score - with Thiel racking up a number of sloppy mistakes.
In short - Thiel seemed to suffer from some first game miscues which OWU capitalized upon.  Offensively, Thiel was able to produce a series of balanced, time-consuming drives.  The difference - Thiel's secondary finally slowed down the quick strike OWU offense.

Much better job this weekend vs. Dayton, Witt!

Glad to see Wabash in good form, and we have a running game!

Just a note.  I know this is a D3 board, but did anyone else see Sutton today for Northwestern.

214 yards on 30 carries and 4 TD's.
Over 100 yards rushing last week.
Very impressive for a true Freshman.

I'm sure Tony is very proud.

WABASH ALWAYS FIGHTS![/size]

Yow!  Nice!

Man. That kind of performance makes you wonder why Wooster shouldn't have risked the trouble by paying that kid some money to follow his brother's footsteps.  ;)
