As far as the case QB'sstupidity, he's the #2.  Down 11  in the closing minutes and trying to force a pass fits my definhition of desperation; if not yours.  #5 Decaesar reinjured a bum shoulder.  Don't get your point about #69 and the taunting.  That there were still fans left to taunt at that point is another plus for the program.  All in all, I don't think it was that great a performance by the Scots against a banged up CWRU team.  Wait'll next year!

Sure thing...I will wait until next year when this years Scots...Many who are starting for the first time...have a year under their belt.  Can't wait!!

The last time I checked,  31-21 was a difference of 10.  I could be wrong though.

Are you sure you don't wanna add Hiram or Earlham to your schedule instead of Woo.  It will give ya another easy win.  You know, pad the record a lil bit better before your conference begins.

DarkSide-D

That is, if you can fit into your hectic four game conference schedule.

Actually it's 4 teams and 3 games now.  I may not be able to subtract 21 from 31, but I can count.  But what does that have to do with COW only being up 10 pts with 1:30 left on a banged up team they were supposed to smoke?  With injuries many Spartans were seeing their first collegiate action.  Most of those injured will have eligibility for next year, so look out.

COW is on the schedule thru 2009.  Hiram does get on in 2008, but OWU joins then as well.  I for one would like to see Allegheny back on the schedule as well.

Yes you have won 9 in a row now, but many were close games.  And you may not be aware that CWRU won the first 5 games including shut outs in 85 and 86, in one of which the Scots made nary a first down!

Last, I didn't hear anything to suggest that CWRU was hanging their heads, if that was the case  ;), they don't make that stop.  I heard a team beset with injuries and a miserable time of possession being as you said in a position to score, get the ball back, and tie.  The pick wasn't a "Hail Mary", but with under two minutes left and deep in their own territory, it ws a throw that maybe isn't made in a different situation.

I did know Case won the first five games of the series,  but lets also consider that Woo was miserable in the eighties, no offense to those that played in the eighties.  And to me, they were hanging their heads at the point of the fourth down conversion.   When I played, our defense got jacked when an opposing team attempted a fourth down.  It was our chance to prove something.  I simply did not feel any vibe from the sidelines or the players on the field.  Sure the crowd was rocking, but the team seemed down.  In particular, usually on fourth down situations, the team is some what interested in what is going on on the field, not walking around on the sidelines looking at the ground.  I believe that Case played a good game, but to be honest, the game was ugly on both sides.  Cases first touchdown came after Woo turned the ball over on downs.  Their second came following a Schafer INT that set up Case inside the ten, I believe.  Their offense didn't have much to do to get into the endzone there.  I wish Woo would have held them to a field goal, but, as is life.  Over all, I was not impressed with Case's Offense.

Oh, and the pick, If I remember correctly, the closest reciever was about ten yards away, running in the other direction!  Maybe it was a blown route, or the QB was just off.  That is why I say it was a stupid pass.

I understand that next year will be different for Case in that they will have a full force of starters at their disposal, who have experiance.  But as I said before, Wooster has many of their current starters who are starting for the first time this year.  Many of these players have yet to meet their full potential. Next year, they too will have more experiance.  I would like to see case play gheny and owu as well.  Maybe if they didn't play the bottom feeders of our conference, then the conference as a whole would respect them a lil more.  Of course, that would be if they could manage a win against those teams.  Until that happens, I will keep my judgement.

So Case is taking yesterday's game as a moral victory?

It would seem so.  However you can get a victory I suppose.  Play bottom feeders, claim it morally.  I guess if it helps you sleep at night.

Who, exactly, was the bottom-feeder yesterday?

I only ask because your post seems ambiguous as to whom the "bottomfeeder" label is applied.

Not to beat the horse any more, but the QB you saw was not the #1, who brings the added dimension of mobility.
CWRU plays Kenyon (bottom tier) Oberlin and Denison (mid pack) and COW (top tier).  That's a reasonable sampling of the NCAC.  CWRU played 6 NCAC teams and was eligible for the title (Won the first one) until the expansion.  If we rejoined for football now, would  conference play still be seven games?  If so I'd favor rejoining.  Earlham seems to have not committed for 2008
maybe tha twould create an opening.  Anyone think PAC would attract Allegheny?  They seem intent on adding one or two more teams.  Would make geographic sense for them.

And I won't call it a moral victory, but the team acquitted itself well given the injury situation.

To be fair there really isn't a middle tier in the NCAC.  The top five teams are all pretty good and the bottom five teams aren't so much.  Now some of the bottom five teams are better than others, but the difference in quality between the fifth best team in the NCAC and the sixth best team in the NCAC is pretty large.

I think Allegheny likes the academic profile of the NCAC over that of the PAC.  That said, maybe with spiraling fuel prices Allegheny might look to returning to the PAC.  I know the PAC was anxious to get a seventh team & the AQ.  TMC while a good fit for the PAC in other ways didn't make sense from the travel standpoint.
