Wally,

thanks for the clarification.  I was in a confrontational mood because I discovered my team lost yet another close one to fall to 0-4 for the first time since I was in diapers.  Luckily, Penn State played an awesome game for the first time in 3 years to salvage my weekend.  That was big because I'm heading to State College next weekend for the OSU game and now I can do so with a bit more confidence about their chances.

Oldguy,

Yellow journalism is a term given to any widespread tendencies or practices within media organizations which are detrimental to, or substandard from the point of view of, journalistic integrity. "Yellow journalism" may for example refer to sensationalized news reporting that bears only a superficial resemblance to journalism. Journalistic professionalism, as now understood, is the supposed antidote. Today the phrase media bias is often used instead of "yellow journalism", with similar but subtly different meaning.
Smedindy ,
Grade my typing and I'll grade your game watching skills. It was a RB who made the catch. Obviously my spelling is correct so far , read my post . Didn't question win or loss by Denison and wasn't crying about anything other than the it only Denison comment . You were beat and shut up in the first half, you obviously fail to question that .
You don't defend the statement I made on that you are in trouble on your future schedule. Witt will need the weaker teams to save face.
This isn't Denison -Witt smack , it is answer the Witt crap.
We lost ,deservered to lose as I stated before , we don't like it but it is real. Your view of your team is not real.
You are better off being quiet like you were during the first half than sounding off here. Now that is smack! :)

I fail to see where I blamed the refs for the loss , bad calls maybe but not the loss. Beg for more is all I have to say . Props to Glover and the QB who played well yesterday . Fall back on the history thing , how far ? 2nd place or 10th place doesn't matter you are still home week 12 watching number1 . Smack again?

I'm wondering when posting on an internet board began to constitute journalism.  ???

Um, Liftit...I love the passion, but smeds isn't a Witt supporter.  Far from it actually.

I understand Smeds allegiance , he chipped in and I answered.
Journalism in the sense that it was a report ,not a fair report ,but a report. It was made to demean a team and make another look better.
Good Luck to all NCAC teams this season and hope that all remain or finish healthy! I believe I am done posting for the season. My grades were poor and the internet professors have grounded me.

Journalism is a discipline of collecting, verifying, analyzing and presenting information gathered regarding current events, including trends, issues and people.
Football games are a current event , any report on it would be a form of journalism.
Lets get off of that and back to football.
Sorry to add or take from the board .

Sorry to continue this subject, but as a professional journalist, I must point out that commentary is not the same as reporting. Take anything with a grain of salt.

when was Sir Louis replaced at quaterback? The replacement's numbers were better. Was it late in the game? Thanks.

nike - I wasn't at the game, but looked over the play-by-play.   Sir Louis played up until the  beginning of the 4th quarter - I checked it out in the vain hope that there was a good reason that he was pulled early and I wouldn't have to eat too much crow for predicting a big day for him on the pick 'em board.  Yummm - crow is tasty when it is freshest.   :P

I guess my game watching skills, from my house in Crawfordsville, while looking after my two daughters and listening to the WABASH game, need some work, eh?

Heck, not even the pundits punditing all over MSNBC, CNN, and Satan's News Channel (with Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity, your hosts and gatekeepers) constitute journalism - how can this drivel?

(Note, that comment above was meant to be funny...a joke...humor...easy pickins too...laugh, would ya????)

The Wabash radio crew was surprised when Sir Louis was pulled from the game - they hadn't done anything on offense but it certainly wasn't a total wipeout on the scoreboard.

Some interesting numbers/stats from the Witt/Denison game...

Witt                                      Denison
Firstdowns: 19                         Firstdowns:  18
Yards rushing: 178                   Yards rushing:  143
Murray: 29 car for 120              Lee:  29 car for 134
Total Offense:  313                   Total Offense:  254

Anyone else notice these?  It appears Denison hung in there much more then the score indicates.  These make it seem like it was a pretty even game.  How about Lee outrushing Murray?

Regarding Wabash and their win over OWU...its funny how most are implying (NOW) that OWU is overrated, not living up to expectations, falling flat on their faces, etc.  It may have had something to do with their opponent, don't you think?  What happened to their 2 weeks to prepare, homecoming, Sir Louis, revamped offense with more passing, etc.

I'd be interested in any comments/feedback from OWU folks that attended the game?  The Bash D also played without 4-year starting LB, Aaron Selby.

DarkSide-D

In regards to the "NOW" claims of "falling on their faces",  I believe I made those comments originally back before the season started.  I never underestimated Wabash, and I never said that OWU simply gave the game away.  Wabash won it.  Wabash should have won it.  OWU should not have won it.  Also, as stated, OWU will lose again.  If not to Woo (though I believe so), then to someone else.  From experiance, I can say that if a defense properly prepares for OWU's offense, it is one of the easiest offenses to read.  Beyond that, it is a simple task of discipline on the part of the front seven.  With discipline, a wing-t offense can put forth all the trickery it wants, and run east and west all it wants, but until it runs north and south, it can't do $hit! (Unless of course in playing wooster this year, where the field runs east and west, not north and south ;) )
