This week's NCAC poll points...

D3football.com - Wabash gains a little more support, adding 13 votes and moving their total to 21, good enough for 31st in the poll.  One voter, inexplicably, gave Wooster a 25th place vote.

AFCA - Wabash cracks the top 25 at #24 this week.  Wooster falls out of the poll from their lofty #15 position last week.  This week Wooster totals 41 points, good enough for 32nd.

Passing will clearly be key, especially for Wabash.  2 out of every 3 yards Wabash is gaining this year is coming through the air.  If this game comes down to who has the better passing game, Wabash has a huge advantage.  Harbaugh is a better passer than Schafer is and Harbaugh has a lot more to work with.  Wooster's best chance here, I think,  is to be able to run the ball and play keep away from the Wabash offense.  The problem there is that Wooster doesn't have a Sutton, and Wabash's run D against mortals is very good (make special note of the 1.7 yards per carry Wabash is giving up this year).

And yes, I've been known to enjoy a Moosehead from time to time.

Apone,

I think Wabash will thrive on the "big game atmosphere!"  Everyone said how tough the OWU game would be due to their 2 weeks to prepare, Homecoming, etc. - they passed that test.  Let's not forget how much experience the Little Giants have on each side of the ball.  This will be Harbaugh's 3rd shot against the Scots with a lot to prove.  If it's decided through the air, I'll take Bash any day of the week.  That's their strength without question.  That would seem the last thing Wooster would want to do is to attempt a shootout through the air???  If Bash can put Woo in 3rd & longs all afternoon, it could be a long day for the Scots - even if Shafer is 100%.  I think Woo will want to keep Harbaugh off the field and play ball control.  Can they?

Scot fans - how is the quality of the live video if I purchase the game on Saturday?  That is pretty cool that it is an option.  Has anyone viewed a past game?

I can't recall Wally meeting a beer he didn't like  ;D.

And in honor of Wally's love affair with barley pop a haiku for the weekend Wabash win over Oberlin:

Tailgate at sunrise
Midmorning buzz is severe
Wabash wins the game

Woo is team trying to find itself.  A strong junior class attempting to take on the leader role, a strong freshman class trying to make the transition to D3 football and some talented sophomores and seniors added to the mix.  You also have a coaching staff that is still trying to put all of the pieces together.  This all adds up to a big ? mark on any given game day.  Taking all of this into consideration, as far as who wins on this Saturday, I have no clue.  Two things are for sure, it will be a wild game and the Woo Band will be super as usual.

Good call Apone,  Just as long as he watches out for "THE EYES"!!    \ /  ;)

The truth is I just wish you would have gone to Kenyon,I know you were a local guy and we could have used your attitude. Goodluck to wooster, send a couple of yellowjackets up the hill we could use some hard nose football players. Have you checked out the new digs,it will be quite a change from the current situation.

Sam Adam's Triple Bock

He's not a fan.

wally_wabash

How did I know that was coming, gobash?

For the record, Triple Bock can hardly be classified as a beer.  It isn't carbonated, the bottle is corked, and you drink it out of a snifter.  It's (un)glorified cognac at best.  And it's right at about the single most foul taste ever created.  So for you tailgaters out there (see how I brought this back to a psuedo-football related topic  ;) ), I highly recommend leaving Triple Bock at home.  Not a good gameday beverage at all.  Really, not a good beverage ever.

Sounds like the talk of a pussy there.

But really, he's right, it's ass in a glass.  I'll take a stiff Maker's on the rocks any day over that stuff.

And bringing us back to foozball...I'll second the request of one of the previous Bash posters for information.  Is this video of the Wooster games worth the $20 (or whatever)?  Hell, it'd be great to take the money I'd spend on 6 of many gallons of gas it'd take to get us there and just watch it from home.  Is there any way we can talk Wabash into getting this service?  Man, it'd go over very well I should think...

I say that the game will be won through the air for two reasons:

1) Wabash thrives on its passing game, as indicated by passer ranking.  It is the style of play that Wabash prefers and has the ability to make big plays in.

2) Wooster will not be able to run on Wabash.  Schafer will need to pass the ball effectively to win the game.  Schmitz would much rather run the ball, but it just ain't gonna happen.

Saturday cannot get here fast enough!!!

Congrats to Geoff Walker for being named as a return man on D3football's Team of the Week.  For those who didn't get to see Geoff's 93 yd punt return against Oberlin, it was super-fine!
