Looks like Woo has no answer for 'Bash passing game.  However, they are staying in the game

For future updates (and so I don't clog the board with these) Wabash is running a live stats board:

328 Yards passing the first half for Wabash.

Not bad.

Why should you go for it on 4th down?

Kenyon 34
Gheny 27  Final

(I think that's the score, Kenyon wins regardless)

Gheny gets no benefit of the doubt in the pick 'ems for until 2006.

Does Wabash and Wittenberg need to start worrying about the possibility of Kenyon going undefeated, gettting the automatic bid for playoffs and Wabash and Wittenberg on outside looking in.  Wittenberg with losses obviously must win conference to get into playoffs.  Let's say Wabash goes undefeated in conference(still some big games left to play especially this weekend) and Kenyon goes undefeated,  who gets automatic bid?  If it is Kenyon, that would mean Wabash would have to win Monon Bell game and hope to get at large bid which even undefeated I don't know that it is a gaurantee NCAC would get two bids considering our lack of performance in non-conference play.  Also the Bell game is always such a toss up I would hate to have to win that game to have a shot at the playoffs.  What are everybody's thoughts?

I have little doubt that a 9-1 Wabash team would make the playoffs, even with a Bell loss (heaven forfend). A 10-0 Wabash team would definitely make the playoffs.

Kenyon running the table is not as laughable as it seems. The schedule is in their favor, though OWU and Denison will be tests.

Kenyon has just passed two of its three biggest challenges. Sweeping the rest of its conference games is a very real possibility. I think OWU is the only major test Kenyon has left.

But, if Keyon and Wabash win out, Wabash, I think, would still get the playoff bid. They've been scoring better against conference foes and would likely win the tie-breaker when it came to picking the AQ. Of course, if Wabash somehow would lose the tie-breaker in that instance, they would almost certainly get in as a Pool C team. With the expanded playoffs, we have to believe that every undefeated team will get a shot at the Stagg Bowl, no matter if they would be from the NCAC, the Independents or elsewhere.

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

I thought someone said that tiebreaker was same as big ten.  Which is if teams do not face off head to head then team who has not won conference in the longest would get automatic bid.  Before BCS that is how it was determined who would go to Rose Bowl.  Therefore since Wabash won in 2002 and I don't when Kenyon last won that Kenyon would get automatic bid.  I agree an undefeated Wabash gets in but I'm not so sure about a 9-1 Wabash.  Because Depauw would probably also have one loss and lose out tiebreaker in SCAC.  Therefore,  Monon Bell could be  a play in game for at large bid.

The NCAA D-III bylaws say that it's up to the individual conferences to determine the tiebreaker. I seem to remember that discussions over the past year or so have mentioned that it comes down to factors such as head-to-head games, in-conference scoring, home and road w-l record, etc. However, I can't find anything on the NCAC Web site to confirm any of this. As I said, it's simply based on my memory.

Can anyone give more concrete details about a rules behind conference tiebreakers?

You know, if the Battling Bishops would just beat Kenyon next week (nudge, nudge), that would make things a whole lot easier for Wabash  :D

From what I have heard from many around campus - if Kenyon wins out they get the bid because of the "Rose Bowl" rule. That is because there is no head-to-head matchup.

The other scenarios were based on three-way ties and the like.

The "Rose Bowl" rule is what I rember hearing as well but don't know if it is officially the rule for the league.  If that is the rule do the league officials take into account that one of the reasons Kenyon does not play Wabash and Wittenberg is because they refused to play them.  Now I don't know if that is why they don't play them this year but I do believe that they dropped Wittenberg and Wabash on their own because they simply refused to play them.  Others with much more knowledge of the situation can enlighten us.  So if I am mistaken on this please forgive me Kenyon supporters.  Hopefully some in the know can help answer the questions about the schedule with Kenyon and Wabash/Wittenberg.
