At least with regard to the band.... ;)

I never thought I'd see the day when Allegheny would lose to Kenyon to start the season 0-6. I know Kenyon is getting better, but how bad are things in Meadville at this point? It looks like a storied tradition has officially and regrettably gone down the drain. What the h*ll is going on up on the hill, that the Gators are this bad? Are they miserably outmatched from a personnell standpoint or are they getting out-coached. Can they even beat the Terriers this week??????????? Anyone in know please enlighten me.

Wooster's band was annoying all day.  STOP PLAYING WHEN WOOSTER HAS THE BALL!!!!.

More comments from the game later.  Need to gather some thoughts and cool down.

BB16 - They lost five spots in the ratings. Wartburg is a quality opponent. Coe is UNDERRATED at 25. Did you not read that? Looking at who they have beaten, and the company they keep they are well justified of keeping their spot. They are probably still a top 20 team even with one loss. It makes total and complete sense that they are still ranked. Total sense.

Stop drinkin' the kool aid - it'll rot yer teeth.

Besides, Wabash needs to beat Witt in order to start complaining about rankings when they mean diddly-poo anyway - the real ranking will be decided in December in Virginia.

We need to beat a 3-3 team that hasn't won our conference since 2001 to earn our ranking? Wow.

Witt has the name...even if they don't have the game. Joe voter out West or in New England remembers being hornswaggled by Wabash last year, and only until they beat Witt will they deign to give respect. As it should be.

Because if Wabash loses to this Witt team, at home, then they don't deserve to be ranked.  But if (when) they roll Witt this Saturday (and I plan on wearing out the first down bit) then I can't see Wabash being denied a spot.

And let's not turn into a spectacle like fans from Ferrum or Monmouth...let's keep the perspective here.

That doesn't answer the question as to why they aren't ranked *this week*. I think that the questions are justified. That's all. It's not the kool-aid talking, it's the numbers.

They are not ranked this week because there wasn't enough movement with the others that were part of the top 25.

Carthage dropped out, for a good reason, but the other top 25 teams that lost, none of the others justified a total drop out of the rankings.

To expect that a team that was 31st the week before to suddenly leap up to the top 25 when only one team really should have left the rankings IS reaching for the kool-aid. The fact they moved up to 27th should be enough, considering they leaped over both Capital and Alma to do so, and they both won this week as well.

We all know how good Wabash is - Wabash must keep winning to prove it to the rest of the country. The NCAC's struggles are also a factor Wabash must overcome. It's a neat story that Kenyon is leading the league, but in that neat story is a undercurrent of "how bad is the NCAC if Kenyon is leading it..."

My only problem with that is that Wabash has done nothing different in the last 3 weeks to indicate that they are pretenders. Three weeks ago we were all pointing to beating Wooster as being the limit of our "we aren't ranked" talk. Well, that game came and went.  I don't think anyone is expecting us to be in the top 10, but I think we're very clearly underrated. The toughest game left on our schedule should be Depauw; so why do Witt and Gheny matter at this point? What else are we going to show the voters that we haven't already shown?

And it's getting kind of old being told that all the Wabash fans are reaching for the "kool-aid" and you're the only one "keeping perspective". You think Wooster and OWU think we're for real or that we're reaching for the kool-aid? Do Wooster and Gheny think Kenyon still sucks and the rest of the league must suck worse? I think our questioning of the polls is legitimate at this point.

Well, yes, Wabash is underrated. The issue is who are pollsters going to boot out? Wesley? Hobart? The top 25 will sort itself out in due time.

Witt matters - Witt always matters to the national audience. Wooster losing to Kenyon matters big time. The Wabash / Wooster game no longer was of crucial importance for ranking purposes. PLUS - we MOVED UP 4 spots in a week where there was hardly any cause  for movement. That's a great tribute to the team.

Look at the dynamics of the rankings and you'll see what an accomplishment it was to move up to 27th, again four spots, and passing two other teams that also won, in a week where few losses by ranked teams occurred.  By looking at the data I think that the ranking will sort itself out if we take care of business.

Do you really want to be like fans of other teams, that just complain and mewl and bawl about rankings, when they haven't played ANYONE at all?

If we beat Witt like I think we will, Wabash will be 22nd or 23rd. By DePauw we should be 15th through 20th, if we take care of business. And that's OK, considering the NCAC this season and the quality of K-Zoo and Wash U.

BTW - when I do my power ranking compendium this week, I fully expect Wabash to be somewhere from 15 to 20, if the SOS doesn't get 'em. That's probably more realistic, but due to the dynamics of the polls I will take 27th right now.
