Wow, wooster did not get much love in the conference picks. although they WERE 6-4 overall, and 3-4 in the conference, only have 2 guys on the first AND second teams is a little short of what they deserve.

I think maybe a little too much love is given for winning the conference, dont get me wrong wabash is good, and deserve most of their picks. But anytime you have THAT many guys on the first team, you better bring back a W in the stagg bowl.

Good luck this week Bash, I'm making the trek from Ohio to watch the little giants... and all those First team all NCAC players they got ;)

Ryder16,

I think that happens most years.  Win the NCAC and get the most on the All-Conference teams.

A "W" at the Stagg Bowl is indeed our long term goal, but first we need to take care business this weekend.  Capital will give us all that we want this weekend.  You should see a great game.  If we play our game, we should come out with the win.  As always.

Congrats to Russ (as well as Bashdad and Bashbro) and all the Wallies on the All-NCAC teams. Some Little Giants!

Kudos as well to Coach Creighton. And, Mansfiew, while I think CC is deserving, I would definitely not have complained had Coach Stanley taken home the award. He did a great job this year.

Congrats also to Clervoix and all the other all-conf selections.

Is Wooster owed some minimum amount of first teamers?  3-4 in this conference means that you weren't very good...and Wooster wasn't.  Kenyon went 6-1 and only got one player on the first team.  Haven't heard peep from Gambier so far though.

If Wooster "deserves" more players on the first and second team, then why don't you enlighten us and tell us who got jobbed.  Which Wooster players "deserve" to be on the first or second team?

Wabash - 10 first team NCAC players
Capital - 9 first team OAC players

We'll definitely see where we stack up relative to the upper echelon of the OAC.

WallyFS4 & Ryder16:

Thanks for the nice comment--as I said earlier, the "Team" (including a fantastic coaching staff) is the thing that sets this L'il Giants team apart from so many earlier editions.  Capital is next--plenty of time later to discuss what they have already accomplished.  Now is the time to focus on the OAC and their Capital Crusaders.  There is "Unfinished Business." :)  As pleased as we are with the accolades that have come the L'il Giants way, they face a real challenge this weekend.  With talent, resolve and heart, the cry must continue to be:  "Did we play our best?," "Did we win?"  I like our chances--this game is what we wanted.  Now is the time to show.

Ryder16:  I'm so glad that you are making the trek to
C-ville on Saturday--hopefully, we will repay you for the time and expense with a victory.  I do think you will see an excellent, hard-fought football game.  Regarding your thoughts concerning a "lack of love" for Woo in the NCAC selections:  Woo has nice talent in a stimulating football environment--they will be back.  Losing T.S. through graduation was just a much bigger shock than coaches, players, and fans realized.  While things are rebuilding in Wooster, I'm glad to see you are on board  with the NCAC to try to get a win against the OAC when it really matters.  One game at a time--Capital is next.  Also glad to read your tag comments relating to "heart."  This Wabash team is loaded with it.

Go, L'il Giants!

wally wabash, sadly i must agree with you on the Wooster picks...3 and 4 in conference, along with too many injuries{no excuses though} to key players played out accordingly...also, after seeing all 10 games that Wooster played, we never seemed to get it all together...

congrats to the Wooster players who were selected and a special congrats to Dustin Shepherd, he's a player...

good luck to Wabash this Saturday against Capital...
remember "unfinished business" and Wabash always fights...

To me, the biggest shock of the all-conference team is where a couple of Kenyon players ended up.

Casey McConnell, who I believe was an All-American two years ago before missing last season with an injury, only gets Honorable Mention after collecting 114 tackles. That means he was picked by his coach for the team.

Also a surprising omission was Joey Furnari, who had 106 tackles, three interceptions and nine pass break-ups for Kenyon as a freshman. Not only was I surprised he didn't make all-conference, I'm even more surprised he didn't win Newcomer of the Year. Sheppard is a solid player, but he only started just over half the games, and take away games against Oberlin and Hiram, he didn't rush for 400 yards total.

I think a linebacker is supposed to have more than 2 1/2 TFL and 2 QBH's if he is going to be all conference. It looks like he's got a lot of tackles, but they were down the field.

We Scots had our year last year. We had a nice number of 1st and 2nd team picks as well as the POY in Sutton.
Hope Wabash can make it through this weekend. Being the better team is not always enough. You gotta PLAY like the better team.
GO BASH!!!!!!!!!!!
Not to fuel any fires, but OWU's wing-t offense got even less love than Kenyon's offense. As I said several times, their defense was very very good and their offense was not very good. The all league selections back me up.
Next year I look to see Kenyon competing for the conference title. A lot of starters coming back, including Coombs and Sanchez. I would have thought after last year's run that Wooster would have gotten a really good freshman class coming in, but it didn't happen. Let's see what happens next season.

scotty

Nike, Wooster did have an excellent freshmen class...what did you expect 6 or 7 starters?...just
curious...

Major Major Major congratulations to Russ Harbaugh who has been selected as a Gagliardi Trophy finalist!!  This is an awesome, awesome honor.

Congratulations to Russ and the rest of the Wabash team for contributing to this honor!

nike

Scotty,
Maybe not 6 or 7 starters, but I do not recall many freshmen making significant contributions all year, other than at running back. I might not have been paying as much attention to the line play as I could have been.  Can you name other freshmen who made major contributions? I cannot.

Clervoix received the Hank Critchfield Award as the NCAC Defensive Player of the Year. He ranks second among NCAC linemen with 65 tackles, including 3 1/2 sacks and 11 1/2 for loss, and added a forced fumble this season. Clervoix was a first-team All-NCAC selection for the second straight season. He was a second-team All-NCAC pick in 2003.

Case led the Bishops with 96 tackles, including 7 sacks and 20 for loss, and intercepted 3 passes. He leads the NCAC in tackles for loss (2.00/game) and leads NCAC linemen in tackles (9.60/game). He also blocked a kick and broke up a pass this season.

Now somebody tell me how Case gets a second team honor when his performance is better than his teammate who was the POY. He had to beat out at least one of the bash guys.

congrats to Harbaugh. he is one of the most accurate qb's i've seen in d-3 football.
