"Here's hoping that Russ Harbaugh is named the Gags' Trophy winner tomorrow. As it is based on the total person, I don't see a more deserving guy on the list. Really !!!"

Thats a nice think to say. I don't know him but the things I have heard and read I would have to agree.  Saw him play and he has to be one if not the best we faced this year. :)

Best wishes from Florida in Russ Harbaughs selection to the Gags trophy! He deserves it!

Thanks for the best wished for Russ!

I'm sure the Linfield QB Elliot is well deserving, but there is no mention of his GPA or any other academic accolades.  I'd be interesting in knowing that information since the award is for both athletics and academics.

As I said, I'm sure he's deserving, but I think we'd all like to know that info.

Congratulations to Brett Elliott on a great honor and great career at Linfield.

Also, congrats to all of the finalists!....being nominated for such an award is a high achievement.

Why should you go for it on 4th down?

oldguy,

I don't have Elliott's transcripts but I know that he's a very good student.  He has volunteered many hours of his time (weekly for several months) in mentoring an at risk youth.

In being a communications major, Elliott has wrote multiple article for the Linfield student paper. (Here his last article: Football not just a game for graduating senior

He co-hosts a weekly sports talk radio show on the Linfield Student Radio, he spent his summer has an intern for Portland's only sports talk radio station (KFXX) working on the afternoon drive time show, and he spent this past Saturday afternoon doing the color on KFXX for the Oregon 4a (large school) state football championship game.

The guy has participate in many on campus events and has spend time in local McMinnville (City were Linfield is located) in various communities activities.

The guy has been good for Linfield, the City of McMinnville and has represented DIII VERY well.  If you spent some time around the people he has interactions with you knew this was a great choice.  I know people might have issue with a former DI player being awarded with this pure DIII award but I hope you can trust me when I say that while Brett's football talent maybe at a different level as a person Brett is as DIII as they come.

His GPA is part of his nomination info that the voters receive but I didn't think it was my place to release it. It's a respectable number.

Thanks Wildcat.  That's the exact info I wanted.

The only reason I mentioned GPA is because I thought last year's winner had his GPA posted.  I could be wrong, though.  With age, memory fades.

I agree but that isn't the only thing that fades! ;D

Pat Coleman

Yes -- I do make exceptions for 4.0 GPAs, I guess. But I didn't post Tony Sutton's GPA either, and Elliott's falls somewhere in the middle.

Mention of the Bell in Sports Illustrated and the complete story of the Mexican Heist...it is pretty amazing.  I would love to meet the Wally that pulled this off!

Can't you just hear the DPU Dean saying, "I probably shouldn't show you this but..."  - hilarious!!!

Now that is fantastic.  I would guess that guy didn't have to pay for a beer for quite a while after the heist.

DOUBLE D

Any word on who the players are that are leaving the program?

DarkSide-D

Ski,

Beyond the usual slackers who eventually drop from the roster, Wooster is losing Andrew O'Connell.  O'Connell saw some significant PT this past season at DB and I personally was impressed with him at punt returner.  I have recieved word that he has decided to try his hand at Indiana.  Who knows, perhaps after next season we may be seeing him on TV.

I wanted to know if anyone is going to the championship on Saturday. I will be three hours away from Salem on Fri & Sat. Don't know if I can swing it.  I have to go with the Purple. Off season is a drag...GO BISHOPS

WallyFS4

I agree with the Purple.  I really hate saying that.  I will be pulling for Whitewater, but the excitment of the first time there just might be to much for them.

You are right.  The off season really sucks.  As always.
