Neither Russ nor Knoblach had good days--Russ was 1-7 for 34 yds.,  Knoblach was 3-10 for 50 yds.  Mexico's huge defensive line and linebackers were constantly in our backfield.  Our defense and special teams won this game big time.  We must have intercepted 4 or 5 times, recovered 2-3 fumbles, and Hostetler ran for 3 touchdowns on interception/punt returns--he was amazing.

Pretty dirty game--37 penalties on both teams for something like 320 penalty yards.  USA was penalized 180 yards.  Could not have been a very fun game to watch on either side.

I'm sure we (USA) didn't instigate but had to protect ourselves. Hope Russ had fun. It sure was fun watching him play against us and wish him luck in the future. Wabash and Russ were a class act. Sorry for the season to come to an end. This has been the most fun I have had watching football ever. I wish I had known about DIII football sooner.

Russ had a great time, met so many nice guys.  Says he wouldn't trade the experience.  Thanks again for the comments on the play of Russ and the Little Giants.  They had a fantastic year--until we met your equally talented Crusaders! :(   I agree that D-III football is super--hope you will continue to enjoy it for many years.  I plan to!

I have looked all over the website to find the d3football all-american teams announced earlier today, no luck.  Does anyone know where they are posted?  "Gordon" on "Daily Doses" has given some snippets on the defensive side...anyone help?

wally_wabash

My guess is that they've been too busy today to post those.  I would imagine they'll be up later tonight or tomorrow.

oberlin, anyone have any info on this program thanks

buzz: If you are concerned with Wesleyan possibly being a little too liberal, then you probably will find Oberlin way too liberal.

Stats for the Axtec game aren't on the aztecbowl.com site but they do have info on the AFCA site.

Both QB's struggled today.  But I can only imagine the experience for Harbaugh, Hos and the rest.  It had to be an amazing day and to play your final game in front of 13,000 (no matter who the were rooting for) fans when the Stagg Bowl participants played in front of just 4,619 is something they can/will always remember.

You can look at Northern not being in the playoffs as a good thing because Wes would proably not been able to showcase his talent to the world.  ;D. Would have been nice to have three OAC teams in the playoffs and a chance to have two playing in Salem.

Great pic of Russ, Hostetler and others on the USA Team.
Why should you go for it on 4th down?

Very proud papa this a.m. after looking at posted d3 football All-America teams for 2005--Russ on 2nd team, Pynenberg (a sophomore!) on the honorable mention list!  A proud day for this wonderful '05 Wabash Little Giant team--and it was a team--everyone shares in this.  Unbelievable!

Well, I'd like to have people think about what Marian football means to Wabash and the NCAC.

Marian will offer 24 scholarships, or 48 half scholarships.

Would this hurt Indy recruiting, especially Chatard, Roncalli and Cathedral?

Smed-
When I first heard of Marian exploring the possibility of football the Indy recruiting scene came immediately to mind.
Speaking strictly from the football viewpoint - for a few years the question will be - "Do I want to play at a school with a winning tradition but have to wait a year or 2 before I can play or play at a school starting a program where I can play right away but probably lose more than we win?"
Marian will also be in the same football conference as St. Francis so I would think conference championships will be about as hard to come by as in the OAC with Mount Union.
Wabash's ace card is the Monon Bell rivalry and hopefully a continued effort to put it on TV in some manner (regionally or nationwide).
All other things being equal I would think most football players want to play at a school that has a chance to win every year. If Marian builds a winner quickly then the recruiting strategy for the established programs will have to go to a whole new level.
Repulse them, repulse them!  Make them relinquish the ellipsoid!
