Yeah, '03 was the year Kenyon bailed and messed everything up.  The league lucked out a bit there by having a clear cut league champion despite the schedulinig disparity.  Could you even imagine that crapstorm that would have come on had a team like Wabash or Witt beaten Allegheny, finished the regular season with one loss and somehow lost the conference AQ to Allegheny because Kenyon backed out of their schedule?  That would have been messy.

And speaking of Kenyon, it's actually next to amazing to think that they went from being unable to play a full NCAC conference schedule in '03 to being a 6-1, second place team in '05.  Which brings to mind something that could serve as a good sports bar debate...which is the more impressive turnaround: Kenyon going from out of the conference to second place in two seasons or Oberlin going from a team that had lost over 40 games in a row to second place in '03?  I have to think about this...both are pretty impressive.

BB16,

I was never claiming that Wabash's recruiting class wasn't good.  I was just mentioning how I find it humorous that we hear the same thing every year at this time from you guys.  That's all.  I'm sure the recruits are very solid.  But that still doesn't take the humor out of the situation.

Everyone -

I have been hesitant to post anything out here about this, but because of the time and effort that my father put into this board over the last 3 years and how he is respected by many on here, I would like to ask for all of your thoughts and prayers for BashDad.

He is currently fighting a serious medical condition and me and my family could use any and all prayers and well wishes during this tough time.

My family and I are greatful.

Thank you.

Why should you go for it on 4th down?

i have no issues at all that the highest paid "non executive" employee at Mount Union is the head football coach but i wonder what the faculty thinks of this...he earns every dollar that he is paid but is recruiting students the #1 priority...

BashBro,

I am glad you posted that.  My thoughts and prayers to you and your family.  BashDad (Mr. H) has been a big part of this board for several years - no doubt.  I still remember the day you called me to inform me of your situation and what you and your family were about to face.  I am very glad that your dad made it to Russ's commencement and still hope for the best.  I have really enjoyed getting to know you guys over the last few years.  Russ had one of the better stories I can remember and turned in the best season in the history of Wabash football as a QB.  Please know the entire Wabash football family are with you during this difficult time and always will be!

Russ will continue to do great things and I wish him all the luck in the world at Columbia U. next Fall.  Do your best to stay strong...

Sorry to hear about BashDad.  You and your family will be in my prayers.

Tell Russ good luck, and I look forward to seeing him walk up on that stage, and collect his Oscar.  As always.

I have enjoyed following the Wabash football team through their Panama experience via their blog.  Question ... are any other teams in NCAC taking advantage of the NCAA rules permitting such an immersion trip?  It seems to me a very valuable life experience "add" to the Wabash team's football experience.
