Pat, no axe grinding here...please refer to my earlier posts when he was appointed...i did state that i did not believe Rogers would be there over a year...when i asked a Depauw player and a future Depauw player, i was told that there was no contact...i further stated that i guess i had bad information...i seriously doubt that my comments were that imposing...esp from someone with a "water gun"...

In the interest of fairness, Scotty did post a positve comment on the UAA Board, so he's not all bad.

With recruiting news all but played out, no season previews to peruse, and Depauw not being due for a coaching change for another couple of weeks, we've officially reached the calm before the storm.  Some things to check out in the meantime:

- Media day is August 8.  Just 19 days away.  Sweet.  The day's grueling schedule is here: http://www.northcoast.org/fo/06minbymin.pdf
- The NCAC page has links to the progress of the renovation projects at OWU, Denison, and Allegheny if you want to check out the new digs at those schools.

A public recruiting item:

I believe Wabash has 6 players in the Indiana All Star Football game and 1 in the Michigan All Star Football Game.  Do not know if there are others.

What is the experience of other NNCAC schools?

Also ... I may have been guilty of Depauw/DePauw Coach "ax grinding", and - if so - appologise.

However, I believe the sensitivity of some does not extend to either those of Wabash or DePauw where the other comes in.  Examples of "ax grinding":  The DePauw President Kerstetter has always been "Krudspatter" at Wabash.  DePauw Coache Tom Mont was Mommy Tont and Mouroouzis ... the inimitable ...   "Coach Neurosis".  The dirty buggers call us "Cavemen" (a term they think of as "ax grinding" ... but to their supprise ... we do not mind.)  They in turn have become Dannies ... a term derived from "dandies" of the umbrella carrying and spats variety. (I suspect they do not mind this term.)  So riding their coach (or their riding our coach ... as the year they stole our signals and used them against us and then rode our coach and Wabash about it the next year) ... ahhh ... the fun of ax grinding against DePauw (or less eptly by DePauw ... against Wabash).

By the by ... DePauw has always needed protectors ... being largely unable to fend for themselves ... as in ... for example ... displaying the Bell for the whole year in public in the unfortunate circumstance of their winning it.

Gray Fox,

All this guy has done is post and re-post about the same stuff.....he has a problem with 200 player rosters and whatever.....

Now its onto an issue (re: DePauw) that he knows nothing about other than what has been said on this thread....and when DPUalum corrected him.....it turns out our little scotty's "source"was wrong...

Differences of opinion aside, it's a pretty weak move to pull somebody's personal message into the public forum.

SaintsFAN, i admit i am not a huge fan of 200+ plus rosters but heck others are...as far as Depauw goes, i was pretty accurate on Rogers' "time in office"...as far as the lack of contact...well, let's say the information was given to me by people i know but they must have been missed or whatever...if said poster says it ain't so, i must stand aside...to err is human, to forgive is Dan Devine...

- Amen Brother! I am only sorry that we didn't hang 70 points on the Depew boys in 2002 as a little payback for 1998. Coach Creighton has more class than that.  Oh well at least Coach Nick rode into the sunset with one final "L" in '03.  Too  bad it wasn't blazened in scarlet on his chest to atone for the Great Signal Stealing Scandal.

We've got a couple of weeks before the NCAC preseason polls are released.  I always find it interesting to see how the fan poll stacks up with the coaches and media.  I'll post my preseason top 10 a little later (I'm working on it currently), but don't feel like you need to wait for me.  In the meantime, you post your predicted order of finish, I'll tally the points, and we'll see how our poll vibes with the polls released on Aug. 8.

Let the polling begin!
