16 ...

Did he win a punt, pass, kick competition as a youngster?

BB16,

Good information, but why not just tell who the player is and what school he went to. And also include, if you know, why he would tranfer from a Div. IA school to Div. III.

Correct Wally, nice job.  Or, as Wabco refers to him...the "Toledo Toe."

Well, I guess we have our answer as to who's going to carry the load running the ball after reading the preview.  I don't think you take King off the defense if you aren't planning on keeping him busy on offense.  Don Juan will get his share of carries, but he doesn't appear to be the front-runner.  But we'll find out for sure soon enough.

With Witt picked 4th in the preseason polls, I figured I would at least be able to come on here and NOT have to read Wally complain about how Witt gets too much respect.  So much for that thought.

Wally, you need to get over your inferiority complex.  None of the other Bash posters are as bitter as you.  Yes, we all know Witt isn't the same team it was in the late 90's.  Move on!!!!!!!!!

Inferiority complex??  Let's do the math.  NCAC championships in the last four yeras:

Wabash - 2
Witt - ZERO

Give me a break.

And if you actually read squat on this board, you'd know that I've said that Witt isn't getting too much respect.

Wittenberg has quite clearly used up any and all benefit-of-the-doubt capital that they had accrued in the late 90s.  Not one person with a ballot picked Wittenberg to win the NCAC.  It's been some time since that has happened.  This is a symbol that the Wittenberg aura has eroded.  How many consecutive seasons that "don't measure up to Wittenberg standards" does a team have to have before you start to rethink the standard?  Apparently, the answer is four.  At least that's what these poll results would suggest.

You're trolling in empty waters my friend.

Wally, according to your final results, Witt has not lost favor with the posters on this board. Witt still has that mystique about them. I still consider Witt a contender and if OWU beats them, it will be a great win. History most definitely plays a role on how the pollsters rank the teams. Did the national pollsters rank Witt in the top 25? Yes Wabash has won a couple of championships the last few years and are definitely the frontrunner this year but I don't see Wabash with Witt's mystique. Give it a few years and I may change my mind. I guess I am a small fish in the empty waters where oldguy is trolling.

wally_wabash

No, no, no.  You're not reading the post correctly.  That Witt did not receive a single first place in either the coaches or media poll represents a fairly significant change in the NCAC landscape.  For the first time in God knows how long, somebody isn't giving Wittenberg a first place vote simply because they are Wittenberg.  This is important and was worth pointing out up until people completely misinterpreted the post.

You'd be foolish to think that I don't consider Wittenberg a contender.  Anybody who doesn't view Wittenberg as a strong team in the league is foolish.  But, and this is what is really important here, the NCAC is no longer Wittenberg and the rest which is what it had been.  No longer is this Wittenberg's conference to lose...it's everybody's conference to win.  And this is a GOOD thing.

And no, Witt is not ranked in the top 25.  Witt hasn't been ranked in the top 25 since the preseason poll in '04.  They got soundly spanked by Capital in the opening week, and haven't really come within more than a faint sniff of the top 25 since.

Bashbro,

12 minute run this afternoon.  How much did it set the tone last year when #3 made it for the first time?

121 players reported in C-ville.

Here's to a healthy pre-season camp.

Is everyone else in camp...any early reports from around the NCAC?

BB 16

All the Rhynes show in shape?

How many Rhynes?

When will the roster be updated to show this year's weights etc?

Did Huff make the 12 minute run?  How about Bubba?

BashBacker#16

56 Frosh - yes everyone reported.

No word yet from today's testing.

I am hoping the roster is updated anytime, I would assume they weighed in yesterday.

Pretty impressive for Wabash - 121 wow.  Hope has 167 on their pre-season early roster - the most ever I believe (although they and Albion have had consistent 140's the past few years and back in '98 or '99, Adrian had 177).  Anyway, quite different than the MIAC, right?!!!  Good luck to all the teams as they start camps this week.
