35 is the over/under on Franklin for points for the entire season.

Sure hope that last comment was made tongue in cheek.  Franklins issues have been defensive as of late.  They have no problem scoring points.  The Wabsh game?  That might be different.  May or may not be a shootout.

Bash is familiar with Gorrell, must have been good enough to have initially been recruited to Crawfordsville.

Might be correct in some measure about overlooking OWU, but seriously doubt it.  Franklin did beat OWU two years ago at home to lose to them the following year.  Should imagine a bit of rivalry is brewing there.

The FC record against oWU as of late may or may not be misleading as Wallick and Millikin hammered FC two years ago while FC closely narrowed the gap last year on Wallick and company.  Hard to say as Wallick had an exceptional season two years ago but was playing injured behind a young offensive line last year.

Would comapre Hartsfield to the BASh running back from Arizona three years ago.  Exceptional leg strength that allows Coach Leonard to do what he does best, work the Franklin invention: the oneback.

Were I a betting man, which I havent done since the Chicago Bears cost me fifteen grand on a point teaser back in 1986 with a needless field goal , the money would be tilted in Wabashs favor.  But, as they say, dont fight a ground war in Asia and never fight Geronimo in the mountains,  FCs offense can be kamikaze and the defense might provide just enough attrition.

[I don't have any specific information about the scrimmage (since I was unable to attend), but from what I have been told, look for a lot of freshmen to possibly be starting (or at least getting significant playing time) for the Tigers this year...

Can think of five players that are on the radar for Witt as freshmen to be playing significant minutes with the starting units simply by their pedigrees.  Many of the greatest Tigers of the modern era were freshmen starters, from Taver Johnson to Tim Altman to CAsey Donaldson, Chris Coleman and Kenny Pope.

Not knowing a lick about the Muskingum scrimmage, would have to add to the analysis that Logan, the Tigers offensive coordinator the last few years, is at Muskingum now, so any outcome could seem jaded.  Am glad to see the demise of the Spread Option at Witt and the return of the motion I, but am still of the opinion the Motion I will be better informed by the Spread Option tenure.  Logans a good leader, but Witt has had excellent success tempering the Motion I with Hanovers spread attack via coordinators.

Have really enjoyed the genesis of two such different offenses side by side over the years, besides somebody has to do something innovative that blends offenses without being tagged multiple west coast.

Great page.  Good work.

Agreed.

After reading those articles, is Brumfield clearly the starter, or is Huffman going to get an opportunity right away?

I would guess if the Capital game gets out of hand like it has the last couple of years that both may see some playing time.

Nice story about a Wittenberg grad:

When Northern Illinois and Ohio State meet Saturday in Ohio Stadium, the Hauser family will be everywhere. Dozens will sit in the stands as fans. Two will be on the sidelines as coaches.

And one, family members say, will be watching from above.

Aaron Huffman named starting QB:

http://zeke.phpnet.us/wittfb2006.html

At least, Fincham did not make the same mistake twice.

What I am referring to is highly touted recruited QBs. When Ryan Holmes returned for his 5 year, I expected Chris Clark would quit and that is exactly what he did.

I guess you could call that baptism by fire.

Are you saying that Fincham should have started a freshman qb over a fifth year senior?  Or that he should have told Holmes to take a hike?  I don't think you can blame Fincham for this one...he made the right play.  I think I can blame Clark for being selfish enough to not wait his turn which would have been one whole season
