aueagle, very good point, I'll elaborate further at a later time on that issue.

Scotty / I was thinking about the young man that runs the hurdles for the track team.  He has good size and must have some speed to compete in track.  With Woo's hit the hole hard mentality and their desire to run inside, this kids size and speed could be just what the doctor ordered.

scotty

ski, i am lost  ??? is he a senior, on the football team...also, imho there's a big difference between track speed/even football speed and explosiveness...a lot of players are fast but are missing that "explosion"...Wabash has that now in the freshman, Sobecki...

any thoughts on this week's opponent...

One thing that I saw that imho will hurt Wooster this season (unless of course they adapt/change from the first game) was that none of the running backs seemed to be able to see a hole closing and change direction/ bounce to the outside.  It looked to me that they ran up the middle even when JCU had collapsed the hole and the sidelines were wide open.  Although the guy that ran the kickoff back for the TD seemed to be able to see the whole field.

I haven't followed NCAC ball before this season so I don't know if that is a consistent "style" for the team or if it was just an anomaly in an early game.
Reloading--Again, and again, and again....

The kid who runs the hurdles for Wooster, who set the school record is a Soph. linebacker and is also injured, while the other is a Sr. fullback. Also, there are two soph running backs that could help woo out while shep is injured. From having seen the game, Orlando Jones can hit the holes hard and provide wooster with a running game. Woo's D has talent this year and showed its big play ability. But just like previous years, keeping a lead was a problem that I assume will be addressed.

I attended Woosters game on Sat and the JV game on Sunday. In both games the O line had trouble sustaining their blocks, Hopefully this was just anomaly that can be corrected or it could be a long season for the rushing attack..
So if you think about it... We have to kill these animals or else they will die...... Guess that makes us environmentalists

ski: Rule of Thumb - football players can't run track, and trackmen can't play football!

The 2005 and 2006 NCAC male sprinters of the year (WR's Mike Russell and Bart Banach) may disagree with you.   :)

I do believe that, THE Tony Sutton was the 100 meter conference champ in 2003.

And Wooster's O-Line will be fine. Couple of first time starters in there, probably haven't fully meshed yet, but in time they'll be a cohesive unit pancaking people left and right... I hear Drushal's pretty good at that

Wally: WRs ain't football players; whom do they ever stick?

If things go to plan, our WRs should go untouched all season.   :)

Looking at the starting line up from the OWU game, Franklin's O-line across the front:  235 OT, 250 OG, 250 C, 275 OG, 240 OT - is that the smallest O-line we will face this year?  You'd think (on paper) that Bubba Lange 6'0 270, Josh Gangloff 6'3 268, TJ Schaefer 6'2 255, Wes Anderson 6'1 240, Craig Morrison 6'3 258, and Co. will have a big day.

On D Franklin has 2 - 225 pound Ends with a 265 nose tackle.  Again, on paper, you'd think the Bash O can establish the running game with DJB and Billy King and then strike with the big play.

Shifting gears, I really think Witt is in trouble.  Brand new coordinators ("green" at that), a WR that is out of the year with a knee (Braziel), a Frosh QB, a one-dimensional offense in Murray...  It will be interested to see what happens but that is an uphill climb.  The Springield Paper was pulling out some wild analogies...check it if you haven't read them - "Wittenberg bypassed the kiddie pool and jumped in the deep end" and another... "There was no life preserver, or even any water to cushion the blow, just a head-on smack into the concrete floor that is Capital."

Wabash made some good changes to their website with a lot of "program" information.  Pretty good stuff - photos, quotes, program goals, academic achievements, season theme, etc.
