The Untouchables? Could Eliot Ness play?

Wabash made some good changes to their website with a lot of "program" information.  Pretty good stuff - photos, quotes, program goals, academic achievements, season theme, etc.

Nice job to B Harris & Crew.

Seconded. Great job.

I believe Ness would have been referred to as a G-man.

I would really like to see JCU's center play safety.  Two normal safeties could fit in his body, with room for a cornerback and eastern European kicker to spare.  On the other hand, he could have covered most of one side of the field...

Actually, that was Malone's quote from when they were interrogating the guy in the cabin in Canada.

Nice job to B Harris & Crew.

I think the only reason you posted that link was to show off the picture of assistant coach Steve House.

Hey!  Every time I click the link, a different coach pops up!

OK BB16, I stand corrected!

Also, there are two soph running backs that could help woo out while shep is injured. From having seen the game, Orlando Jones can hit the holes hard and provide wooster with a running game.

I like Orlando Jones as well.  He seemed to have the most success when he was given the opportunity.

didn't see any stats for Wooster's Sean Swearingen...injured ? did he play?...excellent hands, good speed...

I'm not seeing Swearingen in the participation report...odd.  It says something about Wooster's depth to have won Saturday without their top RB and WR.

Can't wait to see the two-deeps in the Wabash press release this week and see what exactly the size advantage on Franklin is going to be.  Early speculation has Wabash holding a pretty hefty advantage in that department.

What kind of crowd are we expecting to see in Franklin Saturday?  It's pretty close to home...I'd think Wabash will have a lot of fans there.

I could be persuaded to attend, given that at least one of my two demands are met, as per my doctrine.

The Gobash Manifesto:
To ensure my attendance at any one event, one of two things, but preferrably both, must be provided.

1.  Beer
2. Wabash College Football

You have my demands, I will await your call.

I watched about a quarter of the first half of Wooster's win vs JCU.  They looked solid, especially the defense.  The running game was stagnant, aside from the QB's ability to scramble  Schafer is one heck of athlete, but I think the jury is still out on his ability to consistenly pass the football.  I think he would have been a stud FS or SS in a higher division.  However, he is a winner and the Scots will do fine with him this year.

As far as seeing holes, that is really what seperates running backs.  You need vision.  Vision makes up for lack of blazing speed (though some would argue vice versa) as the ability to see or anticipate a whole opening or closing is the key to successful running game.  You simply cannot expect your o-line to blow people off the ball and open gaping holes all the time.  Give me a running back with great vision with average speed any day over a burner with no field presence.  The optimum is of course a RB with both, like Tony Sutton, who quite possibliy was the best DIII running back ever.  He was very, very fast, but he was even better at seeing holes, anticipating blocks, and sensing defenders.  He was really special to watch.

Of course, if that didn't work out, he could always play center.

wooscot, "a quarter of the first half"...at $4.00 a ticket, you got cheated  ;D....your comments concerning Schaefer are appropriate as i believe it boils down to fundamentals from high school...great athlete and competitor...vision and 1st step explosiveness are the key imo...

SCOTS TALK: I went to the roster and found the senior I was referring to.  His name is Kelm and they have him listed as RB.  As far as Schweringen goes, I believe he is dealing with a leg injury.  As far as our next opponent goes, I have no clue other than they were beaten Saturday.

Frank Uible,

I know I came in late on this one, but why so down on wide receivers?  Jerheme Urban, WR for the Seattle Seahawks, was two or three time track MVP of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.  Granted he hasn't really made it in the NFL, but he was a demon for Trinity University.

WR's aren't physical?  Granted that's the best place for the ones who won't hit, but I'm not sure about that as a blanket statement.
