Back from the Hollett....

- If Huff isn't NCAC Offensive POW, there needs to be an investigation.  Huff is throwing way way better than he did vs. Franklin.  With the speed guys he has at his disposal, he could put up an absolutely ridiculous season statistically.

- Better job of running the ball.  Huff had his fair share of chances to scramble when OWU dropped everybody into coverage.  Billy runs hard...I think we're missing him as a senior leader on defense, but I'm not going to complain.  Wabash had to have somebody at RB, and he's the guy this year.

- The offense in general is sick.  579 yards on the day.  That's impressive.

- The D is improving. I echo the comments about Kraft.  He's getting better each week.  The D is tackling very poorly.  If they shore up the tackling, I think the D will be solid.  As it stands now, Wabash is probably going to have to score 40 points against good teams to win.  I don't like it, but that's pretty much the reality right now.

On to Rummellville next weekend.  Go Wabash!

did it look like owu gave up ?
last possession and three scores down
and they seemed to be in no hurry to find the end zone!
did they run out of steam or
do they not have any math majors to help them know they were 3 possesions behind?
if this is second best in ncac, yikes!!!
we look like first in some areas and in the others...well...
it appears we are getting better every week.

Great pics on the website.....The playing surface, which I always have thought was one of the finest natural fields I ever stepped foot on, looked pretty bad.

The field was terrible.  I got confirmation today that there was some sort of fertilizer mishap that damaged the grass.  It's pretty bad, but I didn't think that the field played terrible despite it's appearance.  Not a whole lot of slipping and sliding.  What happens if we ever get some serious rain before or during a game could be a different story.  I hope they get it looking much better by the time the Bell rolls around...we're on national tv this year.

I don't think OWU gave up.  I thought it was odd that they weren't in a bit more of a hurry in the 4th quarter.  OWU's problem with 4th quarter deficits is that their offense is 100% not suited for any sort of multiple score comeback late in the game.  Playing ahead, they're pretty good (unless they're playing Bethany apparantly).  Playing behind, they're in big trouble and that has everything to do with the scheme.

For pickems contestants, I've pulled together the five winning results vs. spread on the pickems board.

Potential irony at Hollett:

Gheny has home team advantage playing at 'Bash Homecoming with Gheny-esk mudhole of a field.

Lets hope that not being on it for two weeks and finding someone who knows how to bring the field back ... hint ... look North toward West Lafayette ... will cure the embarrassment.

In reflecting on the first three Little Giant games, a few key stats jump off the page.  So Un-Bashlike!

Redzone Defense - Opposing teams have scored 11 out of 12 times

Giving up 4.2 yards per on the ground - 174 per game

D is giving up 402 yards / game

Special Teams.......I won't go there.

And the most amazing stat
- Wabash has given up 94 points during the first 3 games of this year.  This is exactly the number of points they gave up during their entire 05' regular season (10 games)  ???

Our offensive stats look pretty sweet.  Huff and the corp are scary.  Great job by the O-Line yesterday.

We need to find the hard hats before Woo, Witt and Gheny.

Another stat that jumps out is 3rd down defense...last year Wabash held opponents to 29% conversion rate on 3rd down.  So far this year, opponents are converting 51% of their 3rd downs.  That's really bad.

Congrats to Witt on the good win.  Good to see the Tigers get their first non-conference win in the last couple years.  Looks to be a very interesting conference season.

VERY good win indeed.  If Witt has shown anything in the last 2 games, it is that the defense can go in at halftime and make solid adjustments, especially yesterday.  Holding Alma to only 3 points in the second half?  Impressive.

Also, Huffman finally looks comfortable.  He threw deep effectively, aside from all the short passes we had grown accustomed to seeing him throw. And Tristan is going to be Tristan.  Great game for him yesterday too.

This week's game at Wooster will really show whether or not the Tigers will challenge for the conference title.  2 big games in 3 weeks (Wooster, Earlham, and then Wabash) - by then, we'll really know where this team stands.  It's just a shame that nobody will be in Springfield to see that Wabash clash (it's over Fall Break weekend) . . .

It was a great win for Witt.  I listened to most of the 1st half.  Key Alma mistakes seemed to change Witt and give them all of the mo' in the second half.  I was suprised that they were able to pull-away in the second half as much as they did.

Nice win for Witt.

Trinity scores 2 TD's in the final 5 minutes to beat DePauw 26-15.

Way to close it out, Dannies.

Mr. Ypsi

And I'm sure that was genuine concern for DePauw! ;) ;D
