I have to say that the band is a big part of it, they still give me goose bumps. A nice size crowd and an OWU win was also nice.  There is something to be said about having your own band and one as special as Wooster's. I for one will visit Wooster again whether to watch a family member or not.

Without question Wooster's band is a good band.  The chants they do are inappropriate.  They are classless.  Regardless the outcome of the game, they find it appropriate to march out the gate near the visiting locker room.  The team buses are being packed up, parents and players are talking and meeting, etc. and they come marching through like they own the place.  Not to metion it isn't out of the question for things to come  up missing as they pass through.

Don't get me wrong, they are great in adding to the atmosphere of the game, however they could do it with more class.

Wooster is a great place to watch a game though.

Go Tigers!

Re: Wooster's band

Perhaps Witt gets the special treatment from the marching Scots?  I've been to the Papp a couple of times for games and haven't really come away thinking that they were a bunch of classless music hacks.

Re: Health

I can't speak for Witt, but Wabash has been battling the injury bug all year.  Lange went down early in the season and is out for the year.  The offensive line has been bouncing injuries back and forth (a testament to the depth Wabash has developed on the o-line that many probably haven't noticed the injuries).  I see from the two-deep this week that Pat Long, who had been starting at LG, is out this week after going down with what looked like a pretty severe ankle injury last week.  Starting in his place will be 6-3, 300 lb Erik Shaver. To my knowledge, the rest of the Wabash lineup is tip top.

Re: Saturday's atmosphere

Witt is on midsemester break, so I'm not sure what to expect with respect to crowd size or student fanatics.  I'm fairly certain that it won't be quite the same as the last two trips Wabash has made to Springfield for homecoming games.  Regardless of the crowd size, you can bet the action on the field will be intense...as has been documented all over the place, this game has become an intense, hard-hitting affair.  This game tends to bring the best out in both teams...I'll expect no different tomorrow afternoon.

I'm trying to make a bet with a co-worker, better known as one of "The Sons of Wabash" (no money of course, just pride on the line...haha), and I need a spread on the Witt/Wabash game.

Couldn't find your pick 'em spreads...Do you do them anymore?

Thanks,

Samuel L. Jackson

GO TIGERS!!

Is it possible that Witt brings out the worst in people? I just simply call it home field advantage. lol

SOAP,

Wally has the line set with the Tigers getting +3.5.

I hope it won't be that close.

I'm sure we didn't have a lot of friends in conference for awhile there.  I think it started 8-10 yrs. ago.

HScoach

Only 3.5?  I'm giving 10.5 and most of the OAC guys are still taking Bash.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

I think Witt should get at least the traditional NFL +3 (on top of the +3.5)  for playing away....

and please don't respond, "But Witt's at home SOAP"

...go to the game Saturday and let me know if you think its a home game for Witt or Wabash.  Might not be Hollet saturday, but if Bash brings the norm to Springfield, the home field advantage will be for the candy striped sorority boys.

I think Wally's line is pretty right on. I still have issues with our defense and the fourth quarter el-foldos against good teams like Millikin and Allegheny.

Wabash by 20 .. if Wabash is anything like last year on defense look out...esp. playing in the NCAC.. the only NCAC team that may have a chance to do something in the playoffs

The pick 'ems are all over on the general football discussion area.  NCAC pick 'em in general is here:

Unfortunately, 2minuteO, this isn't last year's defense.  I don't think it's realistic to expect the Wabash D to shut down Witt like they did in the second half of last year's game.  If Wabash can force a handful of 3rd and longs, I think you'll see some turnovers and that may very well be the difference.  The key to the game is going to be to control Murray on 1st down and put Huffman into situations he's not ready to handle yet.

I was able to catch the Cap-Witt game and there are holes all over the place on Witts D... i havent been able to see Wabash at all this season, but if their new Qb can throw look for a blow out..

I think you could do first half spreads and second half spreads on Wabash this year. Your spread, hscoach, might be accurate for the first half and Wally's for the final score.

Cap also blew Witt up last year in the first game and Witt bounced back to give Wabash all they wanted.  To an extent, you have to the throw the first week out.  Teams can change so much after even just a few games.

More and more this Wabash/Witt game is becoming one of those "throw the records out" kind of games.  The Tigers will bring it tomorrow, no doubt.  Witt is never an easy win (except for the 41-14 thrashing in '03...ba-zing!).

Wittenberg is a different defense than they were in week one.  They still couldn't be Cap but they are different.  Don't underestimate the Tigers.
