I know we had a uniform discussion once this week already, but here goes.

I was looking at some of the great photos of the Bash/Woo game and noticed the sword helmet stickers that Wooster wears. If you look at last week's photos you see that Oberlin has little Heisman stickers. Gheny apparently has gator head stickers from the photos of our game with them.

I like our "W" stickers but maybe a sticker of the Bell would work, too. Anyone have any thoughts on the helmet stickers? What are other teams doing in terms of helmet stickers?

The DIII team at my locale does not use helmet stickers. Years ago (about 35 and well before my time at this locale) an assistant coach from the Big Ten became HFC there and commenced ceremonially passing out helmet stickers for big plays. I have been told that apparently the players at the time believed that the practice was puerile and a joke. When relatively quickly that coach left his successor immediately discontinued the sticker practice, and it has been absent ever since.

Thanx Wally and LG...I had decided just to let that one pass.

Some self deprecating humor and defense of the lesser yet uppity brethren in the conferecne.  Whats this world coming to.  Next thing you know Bash will change its slogan to Never Quits and start wearing black socks.

This, however, I cant let go.  Dont feel there is any feuding behind this little stab at Winnies bosom buddy.  Have felt this undercurrent for some time.  Under the table agreement between the Scot and Giant posters.  Grrrr!  Your not the first Lass.

However, all good.  The four time Monon Bell winning quarteback on my semipro just got me another ring last night so see yall in a few weeks.  Turnabouts fair play.  Tiger Up!  Im gonna have to.  Looks like ankle ankle surgery for Macleod.  At least I covered the onside for the 31-24 win.  ;)  Think my agreement was in effect before yours.

First the Giants come to the conference and start calling themselves the Wallys, a statue likeness of whom has been at Witt as long as my memory serves, and now the Scots have stolen my screenname for use as their mascot.  Well just have to see about all that.

As for the uniforms, I think Joe Paterno, married or not, should have been made the last pope, deified or in some other manner made a saint, so less is better on uniforms in my opinion.  If youve got a winning tradition, dont change.  Never had one, well then who the hells gonna notice.  Would white socks cause such an issue as balck socks were white not in the school colors.  Never understood the reasoning behind removing the tiger from the winged W on Witts helemts a few years ago, but it looks no more or less crisp.  Kinda liked that tiger.  And nobody suggest those atrociosu Bengal stripes.  I like Gehrke and all, the Ram horns were cool on leather helmets as well, but no more of this metallic glitter base coat Texas Tech neon Oregon stuff please.  Well, Oregon can do it, but no one else.

In my old age I like unis that softly bespeak dignity, modesty, simplicity, high confidence, certainty, tradition, heritage, strength - in slogan terms, "if one truly has it, one needn't flaunt it". What was it that Teddy Roosevelt said?

MacLeod: The last person to attempt to get under the table was handily kicked ;D. My maiden name was Campbell.....our clan has feuding in their blood, so I  come by it honest  :) My motto is: My two favorite teams are Wooster and whoever is playing Witt  :o

The Blackwatch has become fashionable as of late.  Hope the clan is doing their best to profiteer from the mass market for this tartan. Prefer the dress Stewart, basically the same but with a little yellow in it.  Mines atrocious, all orange and lite blue with a smear of green.  Blech!

wow scotlass, you're sacarsm is killing me. seriously, i sooooooooooo hope that's sarcasm.

No my dear, that wasn't sarcasm. After the game, there were only a few options:

1. Attempt to laugh in the face of defeat
2. Stew about it in silence
3. Use the age old option of blaming the refs
4. Say, "great effort everybody, too bad we lost"

By nature, I chose option #1..... ;)

From the pictures of the game..I think it is official.  One of the nicest natural grass surfaces I have ever step foot on is a complete mess.

We better be careful, unless we can fix the field we may begin to get a "Mudville" type label.  ;D

2)  Do we not have a Pep Band any longer?  These guys used to totally jam out and it was a big boost in getting the crowd in to the game throughout the day.  What happened?  Hell, let's hire a group to play on Saturdays!  It would be money well spent for what they add.

When I was there in the late eighties, President Salter played the snare drum.

Maybe we need to find out whether President White plays an instrument!

Hardhats off to Wabash..The stadium, the tailgating, the honored traditions all made for an excellent football atomsphere on Sat. Of course the Scots losing put a damper on the long ride home.. In my feeble and untrained opinion the game turned when the Scots settled for a field goal instead of a touchdown, That field goal after not being able to punch it in with a senior lead O line from a foot, Pretty much left Wooster with the feeling of kissing your sister and Gave the Wabash defense the boost they needed to stiffen up for the rest of the first half..
The second half held more of the same the tide flowed stronger and stronger against the Scots as Wabash adapted and changed to match our offense and outsmart our defensive scheme, For expample on 3rd and 1 Wooster went into a dime? (Im sure McLeod can expound on this defense better then I) with no middle linebacker, to quote my favorite Irishmen BRILLIANT.... Or in the 2nd half when ever Wabash was in a 3rd and long, we put in the dime and Huff would quarterback draw right up the empty middle of the field for long runs.......again BRILLIANT... I think the teams were very evenly matched on the field of play. The Difference on this Sat was Coach Creighton went in at half time changed the game plan and fired up his team, While Wooster coaching staff stuck to the old adage "Never change a horse in midstream" BRILLIANT

The Wabash football players chanting fired up on the sidelines for the defense was something to hear and watch, again hats off Wabash, even with the loss I am already looking forward to returning in 2008.

PS McLeod this is for you GOOOOOO GATORS

Maybe we need to get the field turf like Gheny and Witt.

MacLeod no disrespect intended, I apologize in advance for mistyping your name, Being an untrustworthy JV member editing posts is not an option, Retyping would have taken too long with my community college flunk out fingers.. ;)
