Doesn't the technology currently exist to deflect meteors to a specific point.

Our Purdue friends up the road may be able to help.

Absent a meteor landing on Alliance it's not happening anytime soon. Your guess is as good as mine.

kcreds: I congratulate & wish jr. all the best at MC. He will be a great addition to the Pioneer program. I expect him to be making tackles with all-everything nose-tackle Clay Ream. They have a solid coach in Curt Wiese and jr. will have 10 WVa guys with him on the squad. Is it possible that jr. might swing the bat again? I have enjoyed your comments & insight on NCAC & the Bishops. You are - what we all are - great fans & supporters of D3. I will miss your words on NCAC and will look for you on the "other" page in the fall. If my math is right, won't jr. have 3 years left. I drive thru Marietta a few times a year-ya never know-I might see you down by the river or at the Drumm.

We need to close the gap on the Purple Machine...but how?

We are not the only ones who need to close the gap, the rest of the OAC needs to close the gap.  If another team from the OAC could win the league title maybe they would not have home field through out the playoffs.

aueagle: Thanks for the kind words. I hope he can contribute but that remains to be seen. I don't believe he will play baseball and to be blunt, its tough to make that team. He will have 3 years left and nothing would be better than to see him play 3 more years and to win an OAC championship. I can dream, can't I?

Nice try getting rid of me but I'm going to continue to read and post on this board.  ;D It would be a pleasure to meet you and talk D3 football so don't hesitate to stop by.

Merry Christmas and a Happy Football New Year!

wittdaone: The way I see it, it starts with recruiting and ends with coaching. Winning traditions and good coaches get you those recruits. Witt needs to get back to their prominence and Wabash needs to continue to gain prominence. They both have done very well in the NCAC and they need to make the next step. The next step for Witt is to beat Capital. Until they can do that, they won't compete with MU. MU obviously has the right formula and until there is a breakdown in their recruiting, doubtful, or a coaching change, MU will continue to win. The bright side is that any given Saturday, anyone can win, just ask ONU last year. Another NCAC team may establish themselves as a contender in the future with the above formula but the way I see it, Witt and Wabash are the ones right now on the verge of being able to do something special.

Will take more than one or two years of good recruiting to dethrone Mount.

Kudos to the NCAC officiating crew in the Stagg Bowl.  No calls were overturned on the replay reviews.   :)  And they were certainly not a factor in the outcome.   ;D

MOUNT:  The whole of D3 football is chasing Mount. The early days of Mounts present program was the time to try and catch up.  But now that the program is head and shoulders above the rest, it's a crapshoot.  You combine Mounts status and their lower than most admissions standards and their dominance could last for years to come.
Those that want to catch them might have to sacrifice some academic prowess in favor of athletic prowess.  Then they must bring in oooooooooooooodles and oooooooooooodles of prospective talent.  Then they must provide a coaching staff that can make sense of all of the ooooooooooooodles of talent and then lead them on the field.  Throw in some first class facilities and maybe, just maybe, Mount will be in reach.
There is no doubt that Kehres is very good at what he does, but a big thanks to OSU for choosing Tressel as their coach.  There was a period of time when they were both being said to be on OSU's shortlist.  Kehres is in the top 10% of D3 coaches and maintains the best program, but Tressel is arguably the best in all of college football.

Are you serious with this?  Top 10%?  I'm interested to know what other 23 D3 coaches belong in the same conversation as Coach Kehres.  I'm far from a Mount Union apologist, but the guy has lost 20 games in 21 years as a head coach.  For the last 12 years we've watched Kehres orchestrate a run of dominance in college football that has never ever happened before.

No apologists needed for the RaiderNation surely.

Players haters and hater- haters as innovators critics and apologists

Ski,
took a little slight at the etc following a listing of Denison, Kenyon, Hiram et al.  But think thats the key here in the NCAC.  (btw-too bad Hiram didnt get the guy from TMC with their QB prospect fromlast year wouldve given us a Hollett-Hallett Huffman-Huff pungent square for next season)

Whats the angle in Gambier, Delaware, Meadville etcetera?

Lower admission standards are the very reason NCAC ball clubs will and can compete with the MUCs Bridgewaters and Rowans of the world.  No offense to the Hanovers, Linfields and the recent NAIA converts with strong regional ties, but the whole card to compete with the big guys is academics as opposed to the extremes of innovation if situated in Ohio.

Academics are how you land the recruit that MUC cant.

Witt wasnt in skis little list, but Witt has added a BS in most of the science programs and this does nothing more than enhance every other degree on campus, with greater applicant demand and accreditation.

Really liked the model of success put on by Carnegie Mellon this year, as representing the direction of the conference with the UAA partnership.  Look at the physics programs at Chicago and the business schools amongst every member - at the very height of the best and maybe better than the the NCAC has to offer.

Only other angle wouldbe to have Kehres move into another program at a higher level as MUCs going nowhere with regards to division transfer.  The Tressel model might not be a bad idea and would seemingly be more than poetic.  Is MUC more than Kehres?

This reminds me of a conversation Wally and I had whilst watching the Stagg Bowl. Wally commented on how the ESPN studio guys at halftime were criticizing Kehres for something they disagreed with. Wally stated that a coach that has lost 20 games in 21 years can do whatever he damn well pleases. My comment to Wally was that he could have his punter at QB and 6 TEs in the game and studio guys don't get to criticize him.

If there is a SINGLE better coach in D3, I'd like to hear who it is. Let alone 2 dozen.
