Wow, now where are we going to go during Big Bash Weekend?  That's ugly!

May 8, 2007 ... National Day of Mourning (OK ... at least Montgomery County Day of Mourning) ... the day that Tommy's died.

The last time I was in Tommy's was Big Bash 2004. I feel sick....

According to today's P-D, Rick Drushal was released by the Browns yesterday. Too bad for him.

WallyFS4 - I was not able to attend CC's chapel talk this year but listened to it on the Internet.  Not sure if it is still available but it was incredible.  Cool thing about it, he didn't even talk about the football game, more on life topics...  It was strong.

Anyone notice (maybe Wally?) notice the Wabash football guys in the conferrence track meet?  Kimp, Roomes (2nd in the 200M), Bart Banach, Brent Banach, Rode, etc.  Very cool.  WR Banach won the 100M in 11 flat (2nd straight NCAC Sprinter of the Year).  6'3 WR Rode placed in the high jump 6'4" and I believe they made up the 4 x 400 relay team.  Next year's WR corp should be off the charts and pose serious matchup problems - with height & speed.

Too bad on Drushal - I had hoped he would at least get in to training camp.  Thanks for the updates.

Thanks for the update Pufin.  That's too bad.  I had thought since the Browns had at least offered him a contract to attend mini-camp as opposed to the Bengals who had just offered him an invitation, that he might have a good shot at making at least the practice squad.  He was one of only 3 released.

Too bad on Rick.  I would have loved to see him stick around for a while.

Can you imagine the jump in competition he would have had to adjust to?  Because of his size he was moved inside to center/guard.

Last year he's blocking the likes of 230 lb DE's from the likes of Kenyon and Oberlin and in training camp he would have been trying to block Ted Washington.  Yee-Ouch!!

Here's to hoping he can continue his career somewhere.

Was Rick Drushal the best the NCAC had to offer... maybe not?  I talked to a NCAC Coach that felt Wabash's RT Big PAT Millikan, and Witt's Todd Londot were better o-lineman than Drushal.

What is the purpose of this post other than to just stir the pot?

Drushal was a 4-time All NCAC selection including 2nd team his freshman year and 1st team sophomore, junior and senior seasons! Millikan was making his 3rd appearance on the All NCAC team.  He was 2nd team as a soph and 1st team his junior and senior year.  Londot was making his 2nd appearance on the All NCAC team as he was 1st team both his junior and senior years.  Drushal was the most decorated of the three.  Obviously, we're talking about 3 of the best linemen in the conference.  Why did you feel the need to slight Drushal?  Besides, if Millikan and Londot truly were better, why were they not, at the very least, invited to a single mini-camp?  Drushal had invitations from not one, but two NFL teams.  So, NFL scouts from the Browns and the Bengals felt that Drushal was worth the invite over Millikan and Londot, but a coach from the NCAC felt that Millikan and Londot were better than Drushal?  Somehow, I think the NFL scouts would know a little more about judging talent than a coach from the NCAC. ::)

It  is possible to be a better college player than another person but a lesser pro prospect.

Ryan Leaf...Ki-Jana Carter...and Akili Smith come to mind to name a few of the busts...while Eric Crouch could be considered one of the best college option QB's of all time and yet there wasn't really a place for him in the pros.

There are hundreds of players that were good/great in college and couldn't hack it in the pros

Although I think its rare to find guys that had so-so college careers and really excelled in the pros (although you'll fiond some amazing talent from smaller or lesser known schools that list is long indeed)

Ryan Leaf. Biggest bust ever. Only Len Bias's heart was a bigger bust.
