QuoteSeriously?

Yep...Mt. Union is #1; Wabash 7th; Wheaton 9th; Millsaps 15th; Hope 19th among schools of interest to us midwesterners...

That's......unexpected. I'm curious what they know that we don't.

You undoubtedly know more about Wabash football than S&S does.

Ah...you can always count on S&S to stomp up a little dust during the dog days.   :)

I knew CC and company were going to be very fine this fall ... but S&S sure put a target on our backs.  However, the target was already there ... so I for one hope the Little Giants prove S&S proud.

I think this year will be a very special year.  I think it will come down to pit on the O side.   I think you would be hard pressed to find a better receiving corp anywhere.  Huff could be amazing.  Sobecki and Kimp should be able to handle the running game.  The D will be much improved over last year.  I love seeing Kennon back in uniform.  Are we deserving of a number 7 ranking?  Not sure, I guess time will tell.  I really hope so.  As always.

Agree.  It should be fun watching Kennon, Anderson, Gardner and Sparks ... always fresh legs on outside D with little or no drop off ... except Kennon who - I believe - will be a real stopper.  Team that up with LBs Adi and Deig. D will have both the talent and another year of size and strength PLUS something to prove.

New stud FG kicker.

Only Q and I do not see it as a Q but rather just some opportunity for newer blood in OL.

Wabco,

I agree 100%.  The OL(pit) is the big question.  When talking to a few former players and former coaches.  They seem very confident that the replacements are more than capable.  I hope so, we all know that we will go as the pit goes.  As Always.

Heard a rumor that there might be a new coach in that position this season.  I've got absolutely zero hard evidence to support that.  It was just floating around Crawfordsville a few days ago when I stopped in.

DPU3619,

Haven't heard that one at all - Coach Gilbert has been a great addition to say the least, especially considering Tom Allen (close friend of his) just joined the staff on the D side of the ball.

Re:  Bash O-line, here would seem to be the front runners, great size for sure...OT's - Brian Hilts 6'6 290 Sr. (3-year starter), Evan Isaacs 6'3 280 So. or Skip Tokar 6'7 305 So. or Jeremy Morris 6'5 305 Jr.  OG's should be Pat Long 6'1 290 Jr. (returning starter prior to injury last year) and Erik Shaver 6'3 300 Jr. (returning starter).  Center will likely be Nate Powell 6'4 285 or Tony Niemeyer 6'0 270 Jr.

You might be right, BB16.

The extent of my info was a conversation I overheard when I had dinner in town a couple weeks back.  A couple of gentlemen wearing red who were sitting at a nearby table were discussing it.  They were blabbering on the the Franklin game last year.. the 2001 Bell game.. last year's game...so on and so forth.. typical Wabash stuff.  Then one of the fellers said he'd been told that they had a new guy coaching the front five.

I don't know if/how they were affiliated with the program.  The only chance I would have had to identify them was if they were Chris Creighton, Brent Harris, Russ Harbaugh, or Mac Petty.  I can sure tell you it wasn't any of them.

BashBacker#16

Bash did hire a new D-line coach but I do not know his name.  Maybe that is what they were referring.  BTW - referred by a guy named Tressel at Ohio State.   ;D

I was in Greencastle recently at Marvin's and overheard 2 guys discussing Matt Walker and how he may also take over the Track and Basketball programs.  I didn't recognize them but know it wasn't Kevin Burns, Nick Mourouzis, Coach Meyer, Pete Meyer, Tony Meyer, Mike Meyer, Mrs. Meyer, Greg Werner, Jeff Voris, Tony DiNicola, Gary Fencik's brother, Terry Dickey, Jim Hebert, nor Tom Downham.

That's quite likely to have been what they were discussing, BB16.  My apologies for being incorrect.  Coulda swore that guy said o-line, but he also could have been wrong.  Sorry for starting stuff.  Wasn't really my intent.  Just figured you guys would like to hear that.

Also, you're telling me you know Gary Fencik's brother, but don't know Gary Fencik?  Unacceptable.

BB16,

Wow, we have some real beast up front.  I was talking with Jr over lunch.  He thinks this years pit can be better than last years.  He said that is what made last years pit so good.  They worked thier butts off.  I hope these youngsters will do the same.  As always.
