ScottLass,  As a long suffering terrier fan, It has been my experience that Yes the O2 mask does indeed drop down but not usually till week 7 or 8..

Turnovers will be huge.  Both of these teams take care of the ball very well.  Last year Wabash was intercepted in the endzone on their opening drive.  How huge was that play?  I don't expect many turnovers if any in this game, but if either team can force a turnover it may be the difference.

Wally,

the Little Giants turned it over 6x in the wheaton scrimmage. I agree I have never seen a creighton coached team turn the  ball over much and was very surprised by the 3 pics and 3 fumbles. I still say the picks were as much a product of receivers as it was Huff. I hope so for Bash fans.

Watched the JCU v. Wooster replay on FSN Ohio over the weekend.  Wow.   :'(
This might be a long year.  I know there are a lot of new players and QB position is inexperienced, but nothing looked good Saturday.

There's talent there, they will get it together.
Why should you go for it on 4th down?

thanks for the vote of confidence bashbro, but  I too saw the game on STO, and it was very concerning

Looks like one really got away from Wooster. Andrew O'Connell, who played one year in 2005 for the SCots, has made the roster at Indiana. He really looked like an elite corner, someone who could have been like another Nick Hajjar, just a little taller and a little more explosive.

Just checked the Hoosiers season roster, don't see him on there.   Anyone have an update?

I'm told that the OWU head coach told Catholic yesterday that they won't exchange game tapes as agreed upon. Sounds unprofessional and unethical to me to do that 5 days before the game. Reflects poorly on the entire league, don't you think?

wally_wabash

Catholic's coach can get in line....he's not the only one Hollway is reportedly hoarding game film from.   >:(

Maybe he's saving the tape to put some clips up on the OWU website.....wait....nevermind.   :P

Here's a story that flew under the radar last week...

Hillary isn't listed on the participation report for Earlham's game last weekend.  I hope that she gets a chance to kick in a game this fall.

Cool. Though she does look  like she could handle playing DB as well!

And, I would hope it's not just at the tail end of a blowout, either. If she's as tough a competitor and has worked as hard as this article says, then I'd say give her a shot at making a meaningful kick.

Franklin vs. Wabash

Random thoughts...

- the Franklin D gave up 21 first downs to OWU!  That is a lot.
- Franklin started a Freshman center (I would not want to face the Bash front and ILBs)
- one OT is 220
- Gorrell (Wabash transfer) is their punt returner and starting Wingback
- A freshman, Adam Wheat (6'0 205), started at ILB for Franklin - I wonder if all conference LB Teddy Henkle is injured
- their noseguard (#98 Josh Watson) that caused all kinds of problems last year, appears to have gained 30 pounds and is now 6'0 290 (good weight?  bad weight?)

Hoping for a huge crowd, lots of RED, and a good start for the Little Giants!

wally_wabash

Interesting that Franklin's NG tacked on 30 lbs while our NG dropped 30 lbs.  It'll be interesting to see if these changes will drastically alter the way they play as compared to a year ago.

BB16, the crew is being assembled, anxiety is building...it's going to be a great crowd on Saturday.  It's going to be great to hear the crowd when the LGs come out of the tunnel for the first time this year.

It looks like we might get the temperature down a bit for this weekend's game as well...shouldn't be the scorchfest that happened last year at Franklin.  Can't wait to get this season underway!

Caught a local sports show where Coach Schmitz is interviewed each week (must TV for sure). Anyway, he said something to the effect that Wooster is very close to being a good team, and that Holter was just a couple of bad decisions away from having a solid game against JCU. Seems to be in some contrast to what people either saw in person, or saw on TV. I guess time will tell. The Scots better get this game this week, or they could easily be 0-3 heading to Witt.

wooscot

Well, Coach Schmitz does have the benefit of analyzing the game film, so maybe there were a couple misreads or botched plays that if executed properly would have produced points.  I guess that same could be said of the defense.

I don't know, maybe there were things within the scheme and system that were done very well, its just a couple of breakdowns here and there resulted in a stagnant offense.  Didn't see many long drives by Woo's offense and JCU seemed to execute on offense much more efficiently against Wooster's D, who really didn't play that bad all things considered.  I'll stick with my original assessment...Wooster needs to signficantly step up its play or it could be a long season.
