WAF78,

I haven't heard anything close to that.  If there is any way he can come back, he'll give it a shot, I hope he does - I still have a feeling we will see him again.  I haven't heard he is out for the season.  Its so early & fresh, its all a crapshoot at this time.  I just hope he heals quickly - like in time for October 13...

I am trying to think of a bigger mistake in coaching. Creighton may be a very good coach, but this was wrong period. At least quarterbacking you have blockers and you run AWAY from contact. On onside kicks you are going to get hit and get hit hard. And he was in a pileup? He is a quarterback. And a good one. No way he is on special teams, hands or no hands.
But life is about dealing with all types of adversity. And in the bigger picture I am sure Coach Creighton, Wabash players  and especially Mr. Huff will learn and grow from this and carry on. Having crossed 40, I don't remember the games as much as I remember the guys. But I know at 21 or 22, at the beginning of the season, this would hurt tremendously.

I'll take this over the nonsense that Mike DuBose pulled at Millsaps in week 1.  I'd rather have our coach trying to win what is probably the toughest game on our schedule this year with our best players on the field than watch a game get away with our second or third best.  The whole thing is unfortunate and I personally wouldn't have my starting quarterback on the hands team, but there's a limit to how much one can reasonably rake CC over the coals for this.  He was trying to win a big, nay, huge game and the worst case scenario popped up.

The ATN podcast has a really good perspective on this.

Certainly not questioning anyone's character or integrity. Only the coaching decision to put arguably your most important player and a skill position player at that on a kickoff team. I would wonder how much he had even practiced on the kickoff team.  Maybe you can find that out Wally. I have certainly questioned Wooster coaching decisions and I know that if he had not gotten hurt we would not be mentioning him being on the kickoff team. And on "daily dose" lack of quality backups at the d3 level of football I think supports my thinking he should not have been out there.
And again I pray the best for Wabash and Mr. Huff .

If this is the worst thing that happened on Saturday to Mr. Huff, Mr. Creighton, the Wabash players, the other Wabash coaches, the Wabash fans or anyone else associated with Wabash College, they each should be grateful for their good fortune.

Nike -- if you had read the board you'd get your answer.

yah, I'm also a kenyon football alum: eastcoaststagparty, get a grip - the team is better than it has been in many years, the offense is exciting, people go to the games, they've finally got a nice radio set up for alums and such to listen to games... I don't think you would know what the attitude towards football was/is on the campus, because you weren't there.  I'm not really getting where all the negativity is from.

Welcome cirillo43

Look at all the Kenyon posters -  I think it is great !  Keep posting.

What I think is even greater is that it shows support and interest in their program, which is on the rise and is playing some exciting football. They have quite a ways to go, but compared to where the program was 4 or 5 years ago,  they have something to be proud of.

Fan support and overall interest in your program goes a long ways in trying to get things done within the administration.

Doesn't Witt and Wabash go back on their schedule for 2008 & 2009?
Why should you go for it on 4th down?

Wabash returns to the Kenyon schedule next year.  Kenyon will be missing games with Witt and Wooster in 08/09.

I don't know if I should even post this since it is based on speculation, but if Huff has a broken fibula it is possible for him to return this year.  Depending on the type of fracture and where it is located.

I am the physician for our local high school team.  Two years ago our starting senior tailback and middle line backer broke his fibula in the 3rd game of the season.  He was out for 8 weeks.  He returned in time for regionals and played tailback and middle linebacker for regionals/semi-state/and the state finals.  The bone had healed enough and he played with plates and screws in the fibula.  The other thing that is of note is football wasn't even his best sport.  He now plays division I baseball on a full ride scholarship and was drafted to the pros out of high school so he was not going to risk his potential future in baseball for football unless he was completely cleared to play without risk of worsening his future prospects in baseball.

Once again this is all based on speculation that it is a fibula fracture only.  Plus without knowing where the fracture is and what type of fracture it is I can't tell you any more.

The C'ville fishwraps appear to be all over the Wabash quarterback situation.  My guess is that they'll have something official reported in the next day or two.

Let's talk about somebody else's quarterback...aueagle, what's the deal with Hymes?  Is he out for an extended period of time or do you expect him back soon (say by 9/22)?

Your comment about it not being his fibula is not very encouraging with regards to chances of him coming back to play.  So I am guessing you have well sourced information.

The player I am refering to was Jared Baehl.  Currently playing baseball at UE will be a sophmore this year.  Was in the same class  and teamate as current sophmore WR for Wabash, Ryan Kerney.  He played for North Posey High School.  Ended up being drafted in 15th round by Mariners but decided to go to college and play.
