aueagle: I love the optimism baby! I was there 2 years ago and if not for a couple of plays, one being a trick play, OWU had a shot. LGs, I'm not saying they would have won but they could have made it closer. Don't underestimate OWU, they can look very ugly and bam they show up to play. OWU has the same coach as they did in 2004 when they started 0-4 and won 5 in a row. I'm reachin but I want to stay optimistic too. Go Bishops! and less you forget Goooooo Pioneers!

Have been given permission to take in the Wabash game, but it must include a trip to Easton Mall.

This seems like a fair compromise.   :)

aueagle - are you going to be at Selby tomorrow?

OWU did a good job to keep Wabash in check for the first half in the 2005 game.  Wabash scored two touchdowns in the first half...one on a halfback pass and one on a fake FG.  The LGs got on track in the second half scoring two other touchdowns by more conventional means.  All told, it was 29-0 through three and a half quarters and OWU had never gotten closer than 43 yards away from the end zone.  In fact, OWU was held to 9 first downs in that game...6 of which came on the last drive of the game against Wabash's second unit (most of OWU's 126 yards of offense also came on that drive).

Have seen OWU play for a number of years now and quite simply there is NO CHANCE that they will beat Wabash. It is that simple. But I hope it stays fairly close because I like Selby and that would mean less time at Easton. We have to do Easton because my wife loves Bon Vie.  And she knows football.
Has Selby Stadium  ever sold out for a game?  Or even been half full? I would love to see a d3 game where there with 10,000 screaming fans in my lifetime.  There are only a few NCAC schools that seem to embrace football wholeheartedly.  I'm sure winning helps. When Sutton was here, Papp would be packed.  Plus people on the hill.  Now that was fun.

Sutton was worthy of SRO crowds.

I don't know where you're planning on sitting, nike, but I've got the visitors side rows 78-92 roped off for myself.  I like to stretch out a little at these games.   8)

Book a room in Crawfordsville for the weekend of November 15, 2008.  You'll get exactly what you ask for that Saturday.   ;)

nike,

Ditto Wally.  Blackstock doesn't seat enough to get to 10k for the '07 game, but get tickets for the Bell game in '08, and there will be 11k or more.  There are plenty of us here that can assist with ticket procurement if necessary.

aueagle,

For your sake, I hope your ghosts perform better this year than the Notre Dame ghosts.

wooscot

Nike,

Curious since you've been around the Woo practices, what seems to be the source of the "grumbling" you mentioned?  Just wondering if its more than general frustation at being 0-2.

...In  process of terminating all business transactions for Saturday....Do not need spousal approval & only go to "shopping malls" at Christmas.....I am looking at a "drive", but this is turning out bigger than even Kirk Herbstreit would expect.... Selby capacity is 9100...Have heard "Old-Timers" speak of capacity but I think that was back in the 1950's....I have a vision & plan to put 6,000 per game in Selby....Bishops averaged 1,859 fans in 2006...Catholic game had 1,350 in Selby....Scary to think how many LG's will make the trip....
wabco: Enjoyed the "Alternate"...I am using Doppler Radar..more acurate...
nike: "No Chance".....Namath, Mets, App State....Vegas likes OWU....
Bishop ghosts are Methodists....The Irish can't get off their knees....
Goal in Life...Make OWU the #1 D3 school in Ohio & WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS and go to a BELL GAME......There is alot riding on this ballgame.......GO BISHOPS

Had a friend of a friend tell me at a social event that OWU actually beat OSU back in the late 1800's I believe.

In 1890 OSUand OWU met in the first "official" game for each, OSU won.  Site was not far frm Selby's site, per article this week in the Dispatch.  OWU tied OSU n 1895 and won in 1896 and 1897.  Only non-losses v OSU.  Per OWU media guide.

OWU was the opponent at the dedication game of Ohio Stadium.

BTW Polaris Mall is closer to Delaware than Easton.  Better food at Easton though.
Wooster also had a date with OSU in 1890.  It was OSU's first official "home" game and Wooster beat the Buckeyes to the tune of 64-0!

I was there for the event .  There was a pretty funny episode of seeing Jim Tressel catch President Hales after Hales almost fell of the stage after talking.  Its a good thing he did  becuase it could have been ugly.

It was a great ceremony with many notable speakers...Jack Park, Tressel, Gene Smith, Karen Holbrook ::) , and Hales.  Gene Smith OSU's current AD ventured Wooster for a rematch but the Woo AD politely declined... :D

Wooscot,
I'm an old guy in a white shirt, tie and sunglasses, so even though I know a few of the kids, they pay no attention to those of us who sometimes watch practice.
Grumbling is regarding  whose starting and about  playing time for those who aren't for the most part, and that may be a result of the losses, although some of the kids will joke about the teams they lost to. But you can tell some kids care more about the losing than others because they yell at guys that are goofing off or talking too much.
And also those of us who do stop to watch from time to time are within earshot of the second and third stringers, not the starters who are practicing.  And this weeks practices seemed a lot more physical, almost like two-a-days.

I'm surprised someone gave Hollway a game tape to review.

H says the Bishops were "gosh awful" in the red zone against Catholic.  Surprised he didn't say they played like diddly poo.   :P

Would like to hop over to the CMU - Gheny game tomorrow, but the wife has other plans.  :(
