Well, the pass IS paramount. The Little Giants have passed more than they have run, and have gained almost 75% of their yards through the air, the pass is the main weapon, and it has been for a while under Creighton.

Creighton also likes to alternate backs to keep them fresh. Bobby Kimp reminds me of George Lino - a good change of pace back for sure.

And Penn, a fine school, close to D-3?? Hardly. Beating up on the South Bend schools year after year doesn't make you close to D-3. I dare say a team that lost 27-7 to LaPorte in the sectionals last year (who lost to Carmel 34-0) isn't close to D-3.

BB16 raved all pre-season about Sobecki, and I was excited as well. I think the running game issues are due to a new offensive line. But he's only going to get 15 carries a game, just because of the offense and the usage of Kimp.

You have no clue about Penn football. Good luck.

No offense but these arguments hold no water.

HS A beat HS B beat HS C. (Sigma A -> C)

HS A's QB is at College A.

College A beat College B who has an alumunus of HS C.

HS B perenially beats HS C so HS C's rb must be better.

Alumnus of HS C attempts the use of ironic understatement to support the position that HS C's RB is Gales Sayers, but luckily again College A has a WR from HS D who until last year had whupped HS A, B and C respectively for the better part of a decade.

College A and College C are on a headlong course like a pair of butting Rams.

College D is soon to correct recent shortcomings and College E would like nothing more than to continue upsetting Numbskull Conference of Alphabetic College's champion.

So, in closing: Sigma A->C; beware the Gators!!!

What is Penn football? Is it better than Ohio or Indiana football?
MacLeod-chemistry major?

Superfoot Wallace

Penn is the Rowan of Indiana HS football, always the bridesmaid never the bride.

Penn plays killer defense and has superior offensive line play.

Sorry nike, not a chemistry major, though wouldn't mind taking some more chemistry post-post grad to qualify for the patent bar.

Should have listened to the visiting professionals in our English major career symposium when they said if they knew then what they know now they would have at least minored in geology.  And to think I thunk it was just rocks for jocks.

Been in Indiana 41 years. I don't think the two months I've spent in Minnesota have made me forget about the Kingsmen, nor not know that there is a transition between HS and College football.

Not really, for the Kingsmen...as far as discipline and team work. Still waiting for CP's resume.

And here I thought scotty and nike were talking about Pennsylvania football  ??? ::)

Speaking of which, is there a more enigmatic team in the conference than Allegheny?  Surprisingly close scores in wins over Hiram and Denison, yet an impressive win at CMU.

Suppose they are like recent teams . . . excellent defense, spotty on offense, always a difficult opponent.
Long shall we sing thy praises, Old Wabash

So if you play there, no one should play ahead of you at Wabash, regardless of that other person's own individual talents? I get it.

I'm looking forward to this game because games with Gheny are always tough. Nobody in Scarlet is overlooking Gheny. The win over CMU was impressive. Wabash will get their best shot. Should be a good game.

The only resume I care about is that he's on the Wabash football team and Creighton plays him on special teams and he did well at the end of the game today.

I am sure Penn's kids are disciplined and know about team work. So do the kids at Tri-West, Zionsville, Roncalli, Chatard, Sheridan, or countless other excellent football programs in Indiana. And you know what, not every one from those schools can play D-3 football, either.

No one said anything bad about Sobecki except that his YPC this year wasn't that great, and it could be for many reasons.

A big reason is that the teams they have played, before Earlham, have been fairly stingy against the run.

Franklin - 3.3 YPC
Millikin - 3.1 YPC
OWU - 4.2 YPC (but allowed Franklin 8.0)

But the fact is that Sobecki is averaging less YPC than Kimp, or even the J-Back Brock Graham. Me, I think it's a matter of time - he'll have a great game.

Can't believe I am responding to this dumb argument, but here it goes.

The only resume that most every wabash poster on this board cares about is production on the football field.

Those who produce...play.  Those that don't are replaced.  Doesn't matter where they come from, what they did in HS, what color hair they have, who their daddy is, If their name is a series of letters or an actual name, if they eat cornflakes or wheaties, if they brush their teeth with a back and fourth motion instead of a circular motion (ADA actually recommends a circular motion  ;)) etc.  It's all about production.

Right now Wabash does not have a running game (for whatever reason, it doesn't matter)  What does matter is that we need to find one.

Why should you go for it on 4th down?

Said it earlier in the summer, the demise of the Bash run game is attributable to the Bash pass game.

The linemen have been brought in to pass block.  There's a difference between being on your toes in the run game and being on your heels pass blocking.  Very few if any can do both regardless the scheme without tipping the play.

Should say the Bash linemen are well heeled and have great size.

Had a guard with great size at Witt my sophomore year and came across a program with a picture from the snow game against Wooster.  In the picture the guard is heavily on his hand and up on his toes.  Thought to myself, wow bigguns about to open a hole for the run game.  Thing is, with the pure I being had in Springfield back then, and this was really before the motion I, the play may have been a playaction pass with the guard knowing the DT's force inertia would prevent being ineligibly downfield.  The heeledness of this scheme is provided by the backs.

Having seen Witt's tackles this year, am of the opinion they have good to great height, but am betting they are lighter on the scale than the roster tells.  Remember run n shoot tackles being much like wishbone tackles, lanky and athletic.

Feel that traditional under center passing teams live and die by the run n shoot philosophy of the weak belly counter.  Traditional shotgun passing teams live and die by belly iso, power and trap schemes ala wing t.

Weak Belly counter blocks by influence and requires great feet and instinct by the back.  The T schemes mentioned attendant shotgun running are dependent on great vision and a churning running style.  T schemes require guards to move and the run n shoot scheme requires tackle ability to block vision, avalanche interior flank and stay square as opposed to opening the gate in pass pro from a three point stance.

Don't think there is a handbook yet on the pistol as it is an offense run few and far between the likes of Nevada and Witt.  While certain staple favorites are now obsolete, have some ideas as to the different types of backs that benefit from its multiple schemes, and they really are multiple and different.

Should say with the great line size Bash would do well to learn some speed triple and handback trap from sprint, but what do I know.  Just dont feel the Bash backs provide heeledness to the tackles interior flank, whether J or one.
