uknowme22,

Even though you are from Witt, I enjoy reading your posts.  Knowledgeable and good insight from the Witt side.

Man, can't believe I just posted this...

Maybe its from our bus ride together the last time Witt won in C-ville.   ;D

When I start to get nervous about this game, I think of guys like Deig, Roomes, Pynenberg, Hilts, Russell, etc. and its just tough to bet against them in a game with this much at stake - especially at Little Giant Stadium.  No one knows more then them how much last year stung and at the end of the day...that could make a huge difference in the outcome.  I expect another classic.

BB16,
I have nothing but respect for the Little Giants and their fans.  Hopefully someday we can meet up and take in some beverages.  Sorry it won't be this week, I'll be tuning in through the airwaves.

You won't have any trouble getting in, nike.  I've never heard of anybody getting turned away at a regular season game at Hollett.

I can't promise that there will be any posh shopping in C'ville though.  :)

Don't even get me started on the PotW stuff...

You mean about your guy always having more tackles than the winner each week, sometimes double the number of tackles?   OK, I don't want to get you started.

It's way too early to call Wabash's playoff chances dead if they lose on Saturday.  I've not been following any Pool C types of discussions closely (way too early in the year for that), but it's looking like the WIAC is going to play itself out of a second team, and the OAC looks like it might beat itself up as well.  Teams from the CCIW that typically get a look other than the champ (Augustana, North Central) both have two regional losses already.  Also consider that Franklin may very well win the HCAC and make the field, which would be another notch in the LG belt.  There is a LOT of football left to be played.  I don't think a 9-1 NCAC team is out of it...not by a long shot.

OK...you may be right, especially since the most logical CCIW candidates have two losses already. there are 7 pool C bids up for grabs:

Right now I see potential reps from: MIAC, CC, Empire 8, NJAC,  OAC, IIAC, PAC, SCIAC, SCAC, and the WIAC along with Wabash in the NCAC if they fall to Witt.

But is a two loss WIAC or OAC team more or less attractive than a one loss NCAC team? Depending on the regional rankings and the in-region record. There have been some stuff going on in a lot of conferences - definitely teams like Central or St. Olaf's will probably get a "C" (I think Wartburg's loss to Augsburg means that Wartburg has to win out to get in). There's some speculation that the NWC may get a "B" and a "C" or just a "C" (just to make everyone's head spin...) thanks to the issues out there.

This weekend will spell a lot of things out - one thing is for sure. Win, and Wabash's path to the post season becomes clear. Lose, and it could be a tough road.

Wabash ranked 10th in new coaches poll.....

I'd rather hear that news next week.  :-\

Smed,
I would agree with you...this game is for the only spot that the NCAC will land in this years playoffs. With the conference as a whole being very weak, the conference champ will be the only team this year. I agree with your question about a two loss WIAC team or a two loss OAC team. I think a 2 loss team from either of those conferences will rate higher than a one loss team from the NCAC. With that said, it's so nice to have Wabash in a conference that has an automatic bid. Though any playoff decision is going to involve politics...this system is so much more fair than it used to be...when only 8 teams where asked to play in the playoffs...and that was ALL political...who you knew and your reputation...etc. At least now teams can show how strong they are by playing on the field. With a win Saturday and Wabash taking care of the rest of the season...it'll be great.

Really we'll need to see the QoWI and some regional rankings before we can declare any team dead in the water.   Right now this is all just speculation on where teams will be regionally ranked and how other teams should finish out their seasons.

The AFCA poll is bizarre.  Ohio Wesleyan even received 13 votes.  Someone must have confused them with Wesley  ::)

Mount Ida (2-4) got votes, as did Wilmington (1-4). Hardly seems worth trying to figure out but I bet those OWU votes were supposed to be for ONU.

Le sigh.

Anybody who doesn't know the difference between ONU and OWU or any other D-III schools with similar sounding names really shouldn't be voting in the first place.  Surely there are 40 D-III coaches out there who can at least get the names of the schools they want to vote for right.

Mt. Ida got votes? MT. IDA???

The team that's ranked 208th in Massey using MOV (out of 239 rated teams)???

That's ALL I need to know about the AFCA poll.

Might be the ONLY time Ohio Wesleyan gets any votes...at least for an instant...it felt like we belonged.....

WOO - As far as Woo's secondary goes, Geffert and the boys have a lot of work to do. It remains to be seen if they can live up to all the hype. It's a big change for them, having to play without all of the support they had last year. Graduation has left many returning Scots wondering what happened.

Hiram should be a breather for the Scots. There secondary can be porous, good time for the Scot wideouts to try and stretch the field. I am familiar with a few of the Hiram freshman, they were very successful in high school. They were two way players in high school, Hiram might have them positioned on the wrong side of the ball at the moment, as their D needs a lot of help. Hiram has some good young talent, it will be interesting to see if they are utilized poperly.
