Bash,
Yeah...I'm with Wally on that...I hope they go with the traditional red and white...like they did at homecoming. The "red suit" look is not one I prefer..but I'm sure someone has to justify getting those red game pants...lol.

They used to wear the red pants on the road with the white jerseys.  I think Wabash started going white/white on the road in the 2003 Bell game (37-20 Wabash win...Lafitte became the first Wabash frosh to have a 1,000-yard rushing season, Blair Hammer tied his brother's career sack record, and Chris Morris became the all-time leading rusher...very historic day for Wabash).  At least that's the first time I remember seeing the white/white look for road games.

Wally,

thats what I thought when my alma mater went to all blue at home...we looked like smurfs out there.  But after some tinkering the colors don't look bad now....but still, where did the movement come from for teams to be similar colored pants/jerseys??

Blame Nike.  That seems to be the source of the rotting state of football unis...even if Nike doesn't make everybody's uniforms, their (bad) influence is undeniable.

I agree with the blame on Nike. But, then again, Nike does the unis for Texas, USC, and Penn State, and those are pretty traditional unis. Maybe these schools with pig-butt-nasty uniforms (I'm looking at you, Oregon) just want to look like crap.

What makes me wonder is why having matching pants and jerseys bothers me in football, but that's the standard in hoops and baseball.

Someone had asked about television coverage...

Wally - white on white goes way back brother.  At least late 80's.  You guys need to chill on the red on red and notice how many other teams due it...its a trend - I dig it.  Just so you know, CC typically let's the seniors decide.  Do you at least like the black socks?  Also, how about the numbers on the back of the helmets?

gobash83

I have to go with BB16 on the unis...first, white on white goes back at least to the late 70s I believe. Second, over homecoming my oldest daughter (who is in HS) was at the game with me and thought that the white pants with Wabash on the side were great (despite the fact that I thought they were ugly).  I think if the uni combos are what the players want to wear...us old folks should grin and bear it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to pull a hammy jumping off the Wabash bandwagon because I don't like the uni choice.  It could be a lot worse, fellas...we were all within a split second of wearing purple [/shudder].  I'm just saying I liked the more classic look that Wabash was sporting in the very early 2000s.

Excellent catch with the numbers on the helmets.  I'm a big fan of that.

I'm sure most uni color combos  have come and gone about 100 times over the course of the program.  This most recent stint of red/red home unis certainly wasn't a first.

With the amount of money UofO takes from Phil Knight, if he wanted them to play football in tutus, they'd have no choice but to do it.

CC vs. Fincham.  Head to head...  I had it wrong in an earlier post.  Love this matchup though...

CC arrived 2001.

2001-Finch (at Witt)
2002- 2 for CC (at Witt & at Bash)
2003-CC (at Bash)
2004-Finch (at Witt)
2005-CC (at Bash)
2006-Finch (at Witt)

4-3  Advantage CC (guess reg. season games are 3-3)

But they'd be diamond plate tutus, right?

Well, of course.  And they'd also be this color, whatever this color is:

Yeah...the white on whites were the road uniform starting in the early seventies. I don't like the red/red unis...but frankly...who gives a rip...just like I don't care about statistics...as long as Wabash comes out on top...that's what matters.

That Bell game was the only time #3 had to come out of the game with an injury.   :-\ (Shoulder)    Which is unbelievable with all the late hits out of bounds he took playing Witt over the years.  ;)

I think the players for the most part have really liked the red/red the last couple of years.

And that is really what matters. I know I sound crotchety when I spout off about the unis. But the game is for the players. We just get to watch. [/getoffmylawn!]

As long as we are boring the rest of the NCAC with uniform color issues, I for one do not mind seeing excessive amounts of red on the field.  For those of you too young to remember in the 1970's Wabash wore white pants home and away with only twin pinstripes down the sides. The road jerseys had red numbers with sometimes and sometimes not red stripes around the sleeves. The helmets had only 2 pinstripes from front to back across the top, no emblems "W" or "Wabash" or otherwise and gray facemasks. About as boring as they come.

The only real time I have issues with uni combos was the year I refer to as the "fashion statement" team one year under Carlson. It was an up and down year as far as wins go. The team changed their color combo after every loss. Every combo was used - red/red, red/white, white/red & white/white.

And for the really old timers out there (even before my time) Wabash had helmets in the 1950's which resembled the Michigan paint job but of course was red on white instead of maize on blue.
Repulse them, repulse them!  Make them relinquish the ellipsoid!

So why are Finch and Creighton able to string very good years together and other NCAC coaches can't?  What makes them such good coaches?
Barnes had some good years at Wooster(and Augustana), but before him nothing great at Wooster that I can remember.  I don't remember much talk about Mt. Union before Kehres. But Witt seems to have had great teams regularly since the 60's and 70's.
anyway, only two days till the Thrilla in Crawfordsville.

Good grief....almost two pages on uniform color combos! It's never and I do mean never taken me this much time to put together a coordinated outfit!   ;D
