Scot Lass,

We know it is a long shot but we didn't start this did we?  I believe it was Wabco saying Bash would "wax Woo" but do it with respect...

It may very well be a waxing but as another, much wiser, Bash poster said, don't give them bulletin board material.

Good luck on Saturday for an injury-free, well-played game.

I think the Woo-Bash game will be an interesting one...Wooster has been improving...Wabash has been improving. No one knew that the Wabash QB, Hudson,  would develop like he has...because he was an unknown quantity...just like Huff was unknown at one time...and Harbaugh...and Knott...The college game, no matter at what division, is qualitatively different from the high school game. A lot of high school Harry's...all american this and all conference that...never make it in college...or never achieve what people think they ought to. I expect Wabash to win... but again...the mental aspect is so critical. Wabash has a big target on its back...and Woo would love to pull the upset of the week. I agree...this isn't as much a trap game...the Denison game could be. One game at a time, boys. That's why I love college football so much...it's all decided on the field. You can have your stats and your polls and your traditions and opinions...but...it's decided on the field....EXCEPT in Div. 1 for the national championship...where the politics, money, notoriety, personalities and polls still decide the mythical national champion.

I think the point here is that nobody really knows what to expect from Wooster.  They've played well at times (witness the boxscore ScotLass produced from the Allegheny game...very similar to Wabash's boxscore against the same opponent, a game in which most Wabash posters regard as a fine performance by the LGs), and they've played poorly at times (witness the unposted boxscore against Wittenberg, another apples to apples situation, which when compared to the Wabash boxscore against the same opponent is not very promising at all).  You just never know what kind of apples you're going to get from Wooster on any given Saturday.  I fully expect to see good Wooster on Saturday.

We are still talking about the same Wooster I watched Wittenberg paste a few weeks ago, right?

Yep, that would be the one....a few weeks later, making progress, playing improved at Allegheny.....not letting the Witt pasting 3 weeks ago define the rest of their season. You understand that as Witt didn't let their loss to Capital prevent them from squeaking by Olivet and then winning games until Wabash beat them.....and I am sure that loss won't prevent them from beating Oberlin and Hiram.....Allegheny might be more of a challenge, but we all have the opportunity to rise....or fall..... ;)

Oh don't get me wrong, I wouldn't be upset at all if the Scots rise up and get the Little Giants.  Having seen the Scots play the Tigers, I don't think they'll be able to do it.  But as has been said,

LG's: I have the cover (and only the cover) of the 2002 Wabash Media Guide. Has players celebrating with The Bell in the background. The photo was from the '01 Bell game at DePauw??? If ya want it...let me know. No Bishop stickers on the cover!

You are correct...that picture was taken not long after the Monon Miracle.  We're hoping that it doesn't come to that this time around.   :)

So, when are we to expect the SOS measurements to be updated? Is this going to happen every week?

Also, I don't anticipate the upcoming Bash/Wooster game to be much of a contest considering that Wooster is usually such a run oriented team and Bash has a better rush defense than Allegheny (95 vs 125ypg). If Wooster is to stay in the game, they need to keep the Wabash defense honest by getting something going with the pass.  Of course, we all know games aren't won by comparing stats  :)

Congrats to Bubba Lange for being named to the D3 team of the week... DL Jared Lange, Sr., Wabash
Lange's 4.5 tackles for losses helped the Little Giant defense hold Oberlin to 14 points -- 18 points under its points-per-game average coming in. He recorded seven tackles (four solo) on the day.

Wooster will have their hands full with this front 7.

Nice recognition for Bubba Lange.  He is a scrapper in the trenches and lived in the backfield all day against Oberlin.  Seems to be a bit quicker this year with the drop in weight.

WOO Reality! If Woo gets within 3 touchdowns of Wabash, I will be surpised. They did show improvement offensively against Allegheny, as the Scots had a total of 311 yards of offense. That is close to 50 yards better than their average. They should be able to put some points on the board against Wabash, but the D will have it's problems, especially in the passing game. Wabash is averaging near 300 yards a game in the air compared to less than 100 yards per game on the ground. The Woo D backfield has been suspect so far,  giving up an average of 243 yards per game. They gave up 262 yards to Allegeheny last Saturday. My guess is that Wabash will be looking to air it out against Woo. If the Woo D-backs can upgrade their performance, it could get interesting against Wabash. But that's a big IF.

ski...then I think it's going to be a long day. If Woo's D backs are not very good...Wabah's receiving corp is the strongest part of their O. And...Hudson has been improving every week. So...you may be right...it could be a route. I guess it just depends on which Woo team shows up...the team who played Wittenberg...or the team that played Gheny.
BashBJ...yep...stats have never won a game. When I was at Wabash, we had lost to DePauw my sophomore year...and we had dominated the game statistically. We just couldn't get the ball into the endzone. So I was whining and bitching and moaning about  how we SHOULD have won....as we dominated them statiscally. And one old guy...who had quarterbacked the Wabash undefeated team in 1951 said to me...statistics are for losers...when you win...it doesn't matter what the stats are. I learned a valuable lessen that day. Shoulda, woulda, coulda don't mean crap...it's only what's on the scoreboard at the end of the day.
