Ugly game for the Tigers today, but they nonetheless pick up the victory 17-6.  Missed opportunities for Allegheny (a missed FG and a blocked FG), but they were still in the game late.  However, Wittenberg got the ball back with about 8 1/2 minutes left and marched down the field on a clock killing drive before kicking a 26 yard FG with 1 minute.  Allegheny put a drive together at the end of the game, but was intercepted on 2nd and goal on the final play of the game to end it.  Good defensive effort for both teams, and a shaky day for Huffman, who finishes 9-17 for 121 yards, 1 TD and 2 INTs.  Tigers with only 209 yards of total offense, and 71 of those yards came on the final drive.

Also, kudos to the Allegheny radio team.  I listened to them over listening to the Wittenberg road crew (due to my displeasures with a certain part of that team I have talked about before, and I also know Allegheny's play-by-play man), and it was a great listen with very minimal bias toward the Gators. Props to that team for a good game called.

Worried about this game for more than three weeks.  Losing Swanson really put the defense behind the eight ball and they responded with a character performance.

Went to the Oberlin game last week and was impressed with RV Carroll.  Not sure he isn't OPOY.  All depends on whether he can lead his team to an upset of Gheny.  If Obie beats Gheny RV can't be denied.

Wasn't a big fan of the Witt announcer at the Obie game last week that kept saying, "Meet Brad McKinley!"  The kids good, just don't get ahead of yourself.

Character defensive win.  Unlike JSC I like the Witt broadcast crew, am less enamored by the stadium announcer.  Actually quality announcing save the aforementioned complaint.  It's a team sport and a team win or loss.

Though, McKinley for newcomer?  The strip of Sobecki isn't the only great play this kid's made this year.  Just pipe down announcer guy, act like you've been there before.

Any stats for Carroll today against Sanchez?

Sanchez - Rushing 15 carries for 122 - 2 td's
                Passing 20-34 - 1 int - 2 Td's      Not a bad game.

Carroll - Rushing - 32 carries for 180  - 3 Td's   5.6 yard/carry  Not bad either

Matt Hudson   21 of 25 for 303 - 1 int,    4 Td's   In 3 quarters of play.  Coming on strong.

Stats are nice, but leading your team to victory is the ultimate litmus test.  Did Obie win?

Well, the time is here.  DPU just won 21-0.  So, this lines up as a pretty good game.  My son gets the chance to play in this game 26 years after I played in my first.  Any 81, 82, 83, 84 footbll season Wabash players out there ?  Several DPU football alums and I will be there Friday night in a motorhome.  Hope to set up camp Friday, but I get the feeling we can't park it on campus until Saturday.  Look forward to it.

Fripp 52 ... if the game was at Wabash and you wanted to park your motor home there on Fri eve ... yes you could.  Hmmmm another example of the fine rule makers of DePauw working hard protecting you from yourself on the Dannie campus.  Oh, those base sinning urges ....

I'll have Wabash/Denison thoughts soon...right now I'm trained on this Wheaton game.  This is HUGE if Wheaton loses.

Wheaton has the ball in Carthage territory.  It's 4th down here with 2:32 left.  Incomplete pass.  Red Men take over with under 2:30 to go.  Wheaton has just one timeout left.  The Wheaton broadcast crew sounds like somebody just took their lunch money.

Wheaton stops Carthage and will get the ball back on a punt here with under a minute left.  The Wheaton play by play guy just mentioned that Carthage might fake the punt.  Up 8 with under a minute left and in their own territory would be the worst play call of all time.

Bad snap, Carthage punter scoops and bombs the punt.  Downed at the 3 yard line.  Wheaton has 97 yards to go in about 49 seconds with no timeouts.

Norris's first pass is picked.  Ball game.  Wheaton loses.  Tough loss for the Thunder, but you had to wonder if they could get all the way through the CCIW schedule with all of the injuries they've dealt with.  They almost made it.  This is going to bump Wabash up to #2 in the region.   :)

Great game..... Norris had a terrible first three quarters, then became Manning in the 4th.....but they dug a big hole for themselves..... lets see what happens.  Wheaton has a great live stats page.

Wheaton has the ball on the 3 with 59 seconds left....97 yards to try an tie it.

Norris picked off....BALL GAME...

Wabash should move up in Regional Rankings to #2

Carthage just upset Wheaton...how does that affect the seeding process? I take it it's good for Wabash...if Wabash beats DPU?

We would really like the #2 seed in the North.  This would most likely ensure that we would not meet Mount in the 2nd round. Not to in anyway look past whoever will be our tough first round opponent.....  It could be a OAC pool c team.....

A little extra for next weeks Bell Game (Not that we need any extra incentive)
