I wonder if MajorSpartan would agree to Wabash being crowned UAA champ...?  ;) Great game.

Short:  Losing an All-American LB does not bode well for Case d next year as Brew made many key plays to keep them within 2 possessions for much of the game. No doubt about it, Whalen is a stud.

Wow. Whitewater has really pulled away. Now the pick 6. I guess wally_wabash and his nappy ass playoff beard will be in Whitewater next week.

Looks like it is going to be Whitewater next weekend.   Their stadium holds 13,500....... I am hoping for at least a 1000 Lil Giants up there.  ;) (Very close to Chicago)  Our Hard Hats need to pull out a Capital-esque defensive game plan.

Very impressive win today, gentlemen.  Congrats are in order.  What a day for Matt Hudson.

Good luck next week!

congrats to the Little Giants for a big win today. Good luck next week up in Whitewater. you will find it a first rate stadium with plenty of room for tailgating and no ticket issues. it's a great place to see a d3 football game. I wish I could say the same for a few of the wiac posters. tread carefully over there. Don't let the few taint your view of the many. there are some good freindly folks over there. (page back on wiac board for a preview of what you can expect). Hopefully with the holiday past many of the knowledgeable regulars will resurface.

Time to sack up boys, we're not going to be playing Denison next week.

The Denison of the WIAC could probably go 6-1 or 5-2 in the NCAC without breaking a sweat.

Congrats to Wabash on making it to the Elite 8!  You're doing the NCAC proud!!!  Hope all that attended had a pleasant stay in C-town.

Good luck against the other purple next week up in Wisconsin!!!

Also congrats on winning the unofficial outright NCAC championship today!!! ;)

Just had a chance to look at the stats from today. A couple of thoughts.

-Hudson did a great job spreading the ball around. 5 different WRs with more than 5 catches. And while Rode only caught one ball, it was for a TD.

-Hudson's line is strong. It was a testament to the time he had. There were only a few times Case got pressure on him. Great job by the OL

-Sobecki had a great day, despite disappearing for a chunk of the 2nd half. Anyone know what that was about?

-Whalen had a great day as well. He spreads the ball around and racked up yardage. Whats not here in the box score is the intangible "slipperiness" he has. Great player. Glad he didn't hurt us more. And only a sophomore!

-Hart Hat D brought the rush defense! -29 yards rushing! Wow. During the the Case broadcast the sideline guy reported that a Case coach told the offensive unit something to the effect of "don't worry, you'll be able to run on this defense". Guess that didn't work out so well. Next week is a serious challenge to the run defense. I'm glad they can face Beaver feeling good.

other stats that were telling:

- Case converted 2 third downs

- Time of Poss.  40:00  (Wabash)  20:00 (Case)

-  Wabash 12 tackles for loss and 5 sacks.

It did seem like for the second week in a row that Bash relaxed a bit after half..... If they relax for a play next week, they will pay.

Just got back home from the game....on to the elite 8
Some thoughts
Wabash played the best quarter and a half that they have played this year...up 21-0 in the second quarter...then as bashbro said...they went into their...well, we're 21 points up and now we can coast mode...
Wabash was the only one to stop themselves in the first half. Penalties and dropped balls...CWRU couldn't stop them. If Wabash could put together 4 quarters like they did the first quarter and a half...they could play with almost anyone, I think...except the 500 lb. gorilla in Alliance.
Blown coverage on Case's first half touchdown...and Whalen makes Wabash pay. No one was within 20 yards of that receiver from Case.
Second half...Wabash plays the maddening style of ball they've played all year...flashes of brilliance by the Offense...the bend but do not break D.
Whalen is a stud...what a scrambler.
Brew is a stud too...
What happened to Sobecki in the 2nd half?...Anyone know? He ran so well in the first half. Was he hurt?
Bart Banach is a major stud. What a great run after the catch for the final Wabash TD. We needed that one as Case had come back to within 8.
Hudson scrambled very well...had a TD...but it was called back because of a penalty. However, we later went on to score with a pass.
Wabash's defensive backs constantly let the Case receivers get behind them. Thankfully, Whalen overthrew a couple of guys and they had some drops. Otherwise the score could have been quite different.
Lots of missed tackles in the second half....lots.
Case never gave up...fought the whole game. They showed a lot of class and heart.
I don't know what it is about the Wabash team this year. Is it that the play calling changes when we get up by 21 or so? Or...do we not have the killer instinct to put teams away? I don't get it.
CWRU made some good defensive adjustments in the second quarter...stopped the spread running play that worked so well in the first quarter...They stopped that the rest of the game.
Overall....a great game for Wabash...Great Wabash crowd.
I've said it before...this team has so much potential. If they could play a whole game with all cylinders firing...they'd be really, really good. But...as it is...we see only flashes of consistency...particularly on D...the O was great again....not perfect but very good.
Wabash contolled the ball so well in the first half. Awesome job by the O and O line.
A great day for Wabash and Wabash football.
Again...kudos to CWRU...they were tough...had a lof of heart...and always kept fighting. Two great sophomore QB's today.
Go Wabash, Beat UWW

I think Sobecki got a little dinged at the end of the half.  Don't know for sure but I think I saw him limp off.  Didn't look too bad.

Good news is, we're not going to have to worry about coasting or 21 point leads next week.

If we don't bring it full tilt for 60 minutes, we'll get our Hard Hats handed to us.

I'm interested in seeing how our d-line and linebackers handle the UWW running attack - strength against strength.

wabashcpa

Although, I believe giving us 27.5 points (OAC pick 'em) is a bit much.  I'll take Wabash and those points all day long.
