Boy, you are just determined to make something out of nothing, aren't you.  Read the title.  Tom Pattison, the web site editor, would never do anything to disrespect an opponent's program or their fans.

Ditto..... don't see a problem with it.

This Kelly House kid sounds pretty smart  ;D
Why should you go for it on 4th down?

Me neither. What's offensive? Glad the enthusiasm of the program is being recognized.

I don't think the article is mocking Wabash in any way...I think there is some respect thrown our way (perhaps indirectly) because they posted such an article.  Do they post articles informing the home crowd of the loyalty that other team's fans have and/or how many people another team will bring along with them?  I think it's a tip of the hat from the UW-W folks to what they've heard about Wabash football and Wabash fans that they'd post that article.

To people outside of the Wabash community, we're a quirky little school with our adherence to single-sex education and our quirky nickname and our striped overalls and all of the other sorts of non-traditional tradtions that we hold dear.  I shared some brief history of Wabash with the UW-W folks on the WIAC board and was met with pretty positive response.  I think for the most part they're looking forward to having a school and a fan base like ours visit their stadium.

I don't agree with the bit about Wabash carrying the "small private school" banner" with them against the big state university.  I couldn't care less about that stuff...this weekend we're just two really good football teams fighting to advance in the tournament.  The better squad, whoever that is, will win and it won't have anything to do with enrollments or tutition prices or anything like that.  I would imagine that UW-W (and all of the UW schools for that matter) get inundated with the private school vs. state school BS all the time...that line is probably just an automatic response at this point.

Actually, Tom usually uses his articles to make sure that the Warhawk faithful stay grounded and appreciate their teams success while never taking it for granted.  Also, making sure we understand the quality of our opponents.  He has been pointing out the last few weeks his disappointment in the attendance numbers the first two play-off games, the last one being really affected by the holiday where the dorms were closed.  My guess is that his last reference was made to point out how well your fans will travel especially considering the smaller enrollment of Wabash.  It was meant to encourage us to show up with no excuses as a much larger school, I believe.  I repeat, Tom would never do anything to disrespect an opponent's program or their fans!  I know this because I have been reading his site for years.

Also, please understand that www.warhawkfootball.com is not the official school web site run by the SID.  It is an independent site. The schools site is factual reporting while Tom's has an additional editorial aspect to the articles.  The schools football web page link is below.

Just kidding. House's blog entry is great. I think it's a great look at how a lot of us feel right now. And I never played. I'm sure for the football alumni this is an even greater experience.

Lil Giant...pinpoint accuracy...yes it is how many of us feel right now....I certainly connected with what Kelly wrote...and I believe he wrote it as a Man among Men giving his heartfelt Truth...about his life...about what drives him in his world...about what he cares about...and it was about what he Wants...

I am certain that the Warhawk crowd will react favorably to the way Wabash fans celebrate and treasure the game, and I am certain they will actually CHEER and not act like it's a cotillion.

Question --- since they corrected us on the correct usage of UW-W, does it bug anyone else that we are the "Lil Giants"?  What is that??  How about Little Giants.
