Anybody making the trek to Salem for the game Saturday? I know..I know..."Whadda ya mean..to watch the Evil Empire?"....I am trying to convince my Dad to drive with me to Chattanooga to see App/Delaware & then to Salem....2 Championship Games in 2 days!! I told him I will match his social security check if we can gamble on the reservation in the NC mountains....

That would be a sweet double!  I hope you can pull it off...sounds like great times.

I won't be going to Salem this year, but enough pressure has been applied that I think I'm going to go next year regardless of how Wabash finishes (and then I'll inevitably fall in love with the Stagg Bowl and make it an annual thing).  So here's hoping for some different flavor in Salem in 2008.   :)

Congratulations to the NCAC All-Region honorees.

First Team:
Adi Pynenberg, Linebacker Wabash College

Second Team:
R.V. Carrol, Running Back Oberlin College

Third Team:
Chris Hilts, Offensive Tackle Wabash College
Yancy Edwards, Offensive Tackle Kenyon College
Chris Schubert, Return Specialist Oberlin College
Chase Palmer, Safety Oberlin College

Think the D3Sports guys were in agreement with the NCAC as to the conference offensive player of the year.  Schubert was impressive as well, though I think his capacity as a wide receiver probably pushed him into the ballot as a return man by default.  Sat the first half of the Witt game with the parents of Oberlin's outside linebacker and they clued me in to keep an eye on Schubert, and he did not disappoint.

Am in agreement with the Wabash guys that the weather did nothing to help their playoff cause in Wisconsin.  To the poster that disparaged Adi, get real, the man's a baller and was mitigated if any were by the elements.  His is a speed, quickness and sting game.

Nice to see a Purple Lord make the lineup as well.  Without having seen him play, was surprised the Witt Tackles nor the Obie Left Tackle were included.  Though, know I was abused by a Kenyon OT.  May be a niche spot for the Lords, but wouldn't put forth that parol evidence as support.  :-X  :D  ;D

Three Yeomen on the All Region teams to lead the conference?  :o

For my money, Schubert is the best player on that Oberlin offense...I may not have mentioned that specifically during the debate, but that's one more reason why I was puzzled by RV's selection as OPOY.  I'm not sure he's the OPOY on his own team.  But that's neither here nor there at this point.  Ditto on the congratulations to the NCAC players who made the all-region list!

Having watched a good portion of both games on Saturday, I don't think the Warhawks have a real chance in this one.   I believe Mount is better then they were last year, this game will not be as close as last year.

Something like 34-10, 42-14.

Beaver was held to under 3 yards a carry on Saturday (60 total yards).  Danny Jones has proven himself to be a star with his arm and his legs.   (It was nice to see that the Warhawks had a green field though  ;))

I would just remind that Hudson was battling other quarterbacks for recognition and the competition was fairly stiff at that position.

yes Pat....there were a bunch of great signal callers this year.  Hudson is not quite there yet, he's on his way and under CC, I believe that he will become another special Wabash QB.

Not having seen Mt. Union play, but hearing scuttlebutt and looking at their domination on both sides of the ball, this may be the BEST Mt. Union team. Scary good. I'd love to see them play the D-2 champ. Heck, the D-1AA champ and Mt. Union would be a good game!

OK, how about Mt. Union versus Hawaii??

Ahhh, interesting you mention such potential scenario as I am trying to decide on that also!  Very tempting.  I've been to the Stagg twice before and it is a great trip and experience.  Since our daughter teaches in Atlanta, I'd love to go to the FCS game in Chattanooga while getting in a visit with her at Atlanta, then "blast" up to Salem for the game.  But alas, the odds are against me because 1) we just visited her there over Thanksgiving and she'll be home for Christmas, 2) as much as I love driving long trips, it is "a ways" from Chatt to Salem, 3) I can't quite afford taking the extra days off to get there before early Friday and 4) (most important ;D) my wife reminds me of the tight economic situation right now, particularly since we just took that extended trip to Georgia!  So as much as I'd like to make the trek eventually to Salem this year one way or another, I'll probably be watching both of those games on ESPN this weekend. :(  However...still have a couple of days to decide! (unless the Stagg is a sellout!!)

Anyway, if you go, hope you have a great time and safe trip.  Same goes to all the rest of you who might be making the trek to Salem.

How funny.  A bunch of guys at work yesterday were talking about this type of topic, and we came to the conclusion that this year, we would fully expect Mount or UW-W to smoke Notre Dame (one of the guys is a huge ND fan, and there were two D3 graduates among us).  It makes you wonder just how many of the D1 teams Mount could beat.

Fun to think about, but in reality, even though they are terrible, Notre Dame would smoke Mt. Union.

But the lower tier of D1 might have their hands full with the Purple Raiders this year.

I think Saturday will prove, that in D3 this year.

Their is one team in the "Super Elite" Mount Union and then a few teams in the Elite (UW-W, MHB)

What's the difference between a lower tier D-I and Notre Dame?  As far as I could tell this season the only difference is the helmet they wear.

Yeah....seemed that way didn't it.

I have been scratching my head all year on ND...... and I keep coming back to the fact that Charlie Weiss has to have destroyed that team.   ND, gave him a huge long-term contract and I bet now, they wish they hadn't.   It proves something that many have thought for some time.  You can't take any NFL coach and plug them into college and expect success.   In most cases, it doesn't work out and they head back to the pros.

If you look at ND's strength of schedule, they don't play many cupcakes........ and would have beaten most MAC, Conf USA, MWC, Sun-Belt teams if they would have played them.
