QuoteYes, App St. is I-AA and Drake is technically in the same classification.

Not even close. It's NON-SCHOLARSHIP...they play Butler and Valpo. No disrespect to Coach Creighton...but my God, give it up...

Saying nothing of the quality of football being played in the PFL vs. the rest of the FCS, Drake is classified as an FCS instiution.  You can check the list for yourself.

What? How silly. That's like, "Saying nothing of the quality of football played by Duke they are classified as Division I...saying nothing of the quality of Indiana State, they are classified as Division I AA". This is a curious move, period. Why is there such effort being made to defend it?

wally_wabash

Why is there such an effort to dump on it?

And since when does a DPU fan have any license to criticize anybody's coaching situation?

If you look at what I've posted---I wish Coach Creighton the best---just trying to inject some sanity into some of the posts. What I find humurous is some of the same harry high school posters who are the first to "dump" on what happens at other schools get their feelings hurt when anyone questions what happens at their school.   Such an effort to dump on it? You don't want to go there, chief.

A curious move would be going after another D3 job say, in the HCAC. Going to a I-AA school, non-scholarship or not, isn't a mystery.

And since you used the word "defend" yourself, I'll let you figure out whether or not there was an attack.

November 10th, I think.

Then school me, ace...what's so curious about this?  Who jumps directly from D-III to big time FCS or FBS without a stop in D-II or something like the PFL?  From where I'm sitting, this is a logical move for a somebody who has coaching aspirations beyond Division-III.

You got the last one, but the final tally is Chris Creighton 5, DePauw 2.

That's fine...no one (certainly not me) is saying he should (or could) jump to a BCS school...calm down. But Drake??? Going to Des Moines to coach Drake University? For the first time in my memory you guys are REALLY selling yourslef short. Coach Creighton has built a really, really solid program...has charisma,etc...and he's going to DRAKE? Why the rush?  For all of the great things he has accomplished at Wabash, the reward is Drake? Why did he need to hurry up and take this job....are you saying that Drake University is his dream job?

DPU3619

I think it's a fine move for Coach, personally.  Very rare you see a D3 guy make the jump to a D1 head job, regardless of whether its FBS or FCS.  He's got a pretty good program that he's inheriting.  Won 9 games two years ago.  6-5 last year.  Give him some time to get his offense in there and I like his chances.

I'll tell the Bell you said that next time I'm through the Neal Fieldhouse. :)

+1, Wes...you might add the last recruiting class and, from what I hear, maybe this next one, too. Hmmmm...maybe things are coming into focus....

I don't think anyone here has said that. In fact, most of us believe that he's just passing through Des Moines.

According to the Paper...the job has been offered to Neal Neathery, CC's long time D-coordinator.  NN has been CC's DC for 121 games.  http://www.thepaper24-7.com/main.asp?SectionID=23&SubSectionID=22&ArticleID=13542

Tough call and major decision for Coach Neathery.  I would think from a continuity standpoint, he'd be a great choice.  If he opts to go with CC to Drake...this gets extremely interesting.

Trying to speculate why CC decided to make the move is nearly impossible because we have no idea what he's after.  I admit I do not know much about D1-AA Non-scholarship but have heard that Drake is one where they come up with scholarships as opposed to others like a Butler.  That is 2nd hand though from a dad who's son went through the recruiting process.  The non-playoff thing is crazy (if that is correct), especially knowing the competitiveness of CC.  No one likely knows the answer except Coach C himself.  I bet there is a lot more to it then...moving up, or the money, etc.  Their stadium seats 14,500, they have a D1 hoops program, their a high quality private university, etc.

I may need some help from BashBro and others (because I cannot do it justice) but other things CC brought to the program besides wins & losses:  Champions Manual, Senior Talks, Thursday Chapels, Senior Leadership Trip, Team Immersion Trips (Austria & Panama), The Walk, Weekly in-season themes, Season Themes (Hungry, Army-of-One, M.A.D., Passion, etc), the Spread O, Hard Hat D, Load the Wagon O, Twin Lakes Preseason Camp, 6 A.M. workouts, etc.

Best of luck to CC - he'll win where ever he is.

KitchenSink

Wow.  That's a big one for the L Giants.

I was impressed with your program before and after your clan came up to Whitewater.  Certainly wish you guys the best under the new leader you find.

Neathery looks like he might have the tools to take over.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!
