Dear Pat,
Thanks for everything you do.  Great site.  Do I think you are biased against certain programs (say a tiny D3 all male college in the midwest)?  No.  I think you have far better things to do with your time than pick random programs to slam.

Do I think that you enjoy - from time to time - throwing little wrinkles out there to get some D3 fans riled up?  Uuh - you bet.

Fair enough -- but in this case, truly, I wasn't trying to rile people up. I really try to put together a slate of answers that covers all bases, and that's true whether I have been writing poll questions at USA Today, NBCSports.com, Verizon or on the D3 sites.

What I missed was an intervening level, like going 7-3. But including below .500 was a natural. No matter how insulted one of you may be, it's eminently possible.

I would be surprised if Wabash hired someone without collegiate head coaching experience. If I were you, I'd hope for someone who has been a head coach elsewhere and has some sort of Division III experience, even as an assistant. I think that's key -- recruiting without scholarships is a different animal.

Thanks for the reminder on Mac Petty -- we'll try to get him on Hoopsville this year.

Short,

I went and read Ramsey's bio, I can't see that happening.  Yes he's made a lot of progress at Oberlin but in reality, his record at Oberlin is 24-66.  That would be a tough sell - especially to many Bash fans & alumni that don't realize the progress he's made at Oberlin.  His best overall record is 5-5 (3x) and he would take over a program that would expect 8 wins out of the gate.

I do not know enough about Seth Duerr but he does seem extremely young.

I just think, to build on what CC has built, we cannot afford a huge risk here...to give someon a "shot" and see how it goes.  As several of us have stated, the bar has been raised and I think everyone in the Wabash community likes it where it is.

We'd have red/white checkerboard endzones at every game.  That much I promise.   :)

That's all you've got for us, Wally?  Checkerboard endzones!?!

I'm going to need a little more than that. ;D

One thing that Wabash needs to continue is CC's and Neal's tradition of Hard Hat D.

At times, Wabash had issues on defense (when the defensive backs were short, but made up for it by being slow) but that hasn't been much of a problem recently. Defense wins championships.

Any names?

Who would you guys want?

SaintsFAN

someone mentioned a defensive guy from Purdue....after seeing that defense last night, I think WABASH can do better and NOT the other way around.

I'm sure Wabash will get a great coach....its a "name" program in Division 3, IMO...

Does anyone think Metzelaars would have any interest in returning to C-Ville? Probably, too much of a step back, but it would be cool.

Here's a name. Don't know if he's inclined to move:

Eric Koehler, who is 16-4 in two seasons at Wartburg, in the tough IIAC. He played at Hanover, and much like CC is his own offensive coordinator.

Wartburg's defense only allowed 8 points per game.

That's a nice program there. Again, he's been there just two years, but he's a young coach with a track record in a good to great D-3 conference.

If not Metzelaars, what about Stan Parrish? He is currently OC at Ball State. That would also be cool.
