Currently reading "Carlisle vs. Army" - Pop Warner, Jim Thorpe, Dwight Eisenhower, etc.  Interesting read about football at the turn of the 20th century.

The heck with the Wing - T - let's bring back the single wing!

Or, we can bring in a Mouse Davis / June Jones disciple and do the run-and-shoot. Bill Kaiser would roll over in his grave...oh, yeah, he's not dead. Anyway... :P

Speaking of June and Mouse...I read today that Greg McMackin is going to be the next coach at Hawaii.  McMackin was the head coach at my hometown school, Oregon Tech, back in the late 80s (and was very successful there...made the NAIA semis one year and coached the first and only two kids from Tech who made the League) right before Tech had to cut the football program thanks to Oregon's state legislature completely mishandling the education budget.  This has nothing to do with anything other than it gives me a chance to mention Oregon Tech football.   :)

Wabco, you forgot the other candidate, GORT.

And I think you spelled "Klaatu" incorrectly, then again I was really drunk when I saw the movie. 8)

...Capital stayed in-house with their pick..7 yr. associate HC/Def. Coordinator, Jim Bickel. 19 days to "find" the guy in their own building...MMmmm. He is a solid coach and should keep them in a Top 15 program slot. His NCAC connection is Denison-1977 grad. The bio states he has 31 yrs of Central Ohio football experience...that's HS contacts, recruits, fans....wally; the Hustlin' Owls? Day 26 of The Wabash Watch.....

Joe Wally ...

You are correct ... but then again ... I was calling out for GORT to be the coach.  Now ... he would kick but.  By the way ... did your movie have subtitles ... mine had no spelling, hence the weak effort at KLAATU.

Come on Wabash: KLAATU, KLAATU, KLAATU

Our in house candidate went to Drake, otherwise there would be no Wabash watch. Any smoke signals coming from the Allen Center?

wally; the Hustlin' Owls?

The Hustlin' Owls indeed!  Athletically speaking, it's a hoops school now.  And a really good one...the head coach has 831 career wins, won a national championship a few years ago.  Amazing how he's been able to build a powerhouse at a commuter school in the middle of nowhere.

I digress...back to my head coaching vigil...

Black smoke...not good.

Indeed,...black smoke is not good, unless you are smoking one of those nice, long, skinny "class" stogies! ;D ;)  Seriously, though, you guys have had some good discussion on the Wabash coaching search.  Keep us posted and I wish "Bash all the best in selecting the candidate they feel will best lead your school on in the future.

I'm at Chadwick for hoops tonight fellas...the belly of the beast.  No smoke and no obvious clues lying about....I'll keep my eyes peeled.   :)
