Don't we all find it strange that the Dannies are spending so much time on our board.   Even during Bell Week, we don't see this much of them.   ???

IMO, Wes is the only one that actually brings anything other than Troll Spat to his posts.

Aw, shucks.

Wally, I'd rather my team win the Stagg Bowl. But we haven't. And, hey, guess what, neither have you.

you seem to be cherry-picking the criteria to prove your point.
we have been to the Stagg Bowl.
we are 5-3 in recent playoffs.
you are still undefeated...in the playoff games.

tell me again, which program is more successful in the last decade?
tell me which program is closer to winning the SB?
maybe you should take another sip of the dpu kool-aid before you answer!!

Careful here.  What's your record against DePauw in the same time period?  None of that funky BashBacker math allowed, either.  :D

Just providing a counterpoint.

QuoteSomeday, you guys will get over the Trinity/Millsaps hump, maybe this year, and I think both Wabash fans and Depauw fans will agree that winning the Bell is not the strict definition of a great season. Maybe we'll get to play each other. How great would that be?

well said.

The Bell series is 5-5 in the last 10 seasons.  Would you rather have that 5-5 record with 5 conference championships (4 outright) and three playoff appearances or that 5-5 record with two co-championships and no playoff appearances?  One of us has a record of 83-25 in the last 10 years.  The other has a record of 64-35.  And we're wondering which program has had more success in the last 10 years?  This isn't even a debatable topic.

Maybe its a matter of the fact that when I was a student at Wabash the Bell game was the absolute pinnacle of the football season, but I am still taken slightly aback when my fellow Wabash brethern talk about some goal of the season greater than winning the Bell.

I have been to every home Witt game that we have played since we moved to the NCAC, and have been to all but one of the home playoff games in which we have played in the three most recenty playoff runs, and there is still nothing to me like the Monon Bell.

Simply looking back on this season, I "suffered" more with the Bell loss than I did with the Whitewater loss (perhaps it's because we loss to a lesser team in the Bell game ;D).

If we make it to the Stagg my opinion may be changed, but until that time, I will always live and die with one game on our schedule.  Just my thoughts on the matter.

Good God, I think this means that I agree with Wes!!!!!

It's only taken the group, south of the I-70 latitude, a decade to determine what others have learned over 175 years  :D :D :D

Yeah, and if you're program were miles ahead of ours, you'd beat our ass every year.

Wouldn't that be a wonderful world to live in?  :)

Wabash isn't miles ahead...just ahead.  And rivalry games don't work that way...you've been around this thing long enough to know that.  I think DePauw is close to breaking through. Have been for a while now.  I'm on record as saying that I think DePauw could have won the SCAC playoff bid in 2005.  Probably should have closed the deal in 2006 as well.  I'll be the first to sit here and say that I'm amazed at how that program has managed to hold together and be competitive given the revolving door at the coach's office.

I'm just playing devil's advocate, anyway.  But, a fair point.  Heck, you beat Witt and Wooster and Gheny and everybody else every year.  Seems like you've done a fine job of distancing yourself from them.  Was just curious for your thoughts on why that hasn't happened with that team not in your conference.

true dat!  :D

This conference to conference comparison just doesn't make any sense.  We'll never know - but I seriously doubt Wabash would have fared much better against Trinity over the past decade than DePauw has.  DPU made a choice to leave the ICAC.  It was the right choice to leave that conference.  But please Wes, if I could give you a wayback machine, wouldn't you take the opportunity to have gone to the NCAC with us?
