Thanks, Li'l Giant. I knew our Texican on the board, being closer, would have the stuff. I agree it was a shame. Anyone know if the same is going to apply to CP Porter? One rumor had it that he had not returned for the 2d semester, but there does not appear to be an official (or semi-official) statement: ( Wally Wabash, the semi-underground source)

When it comes to the affairs of the students coming and going, I'm only "underground" in that I keep my head in the sand.  Wabash students, and not just the athletes, leave the College for a myriad of reasons and most of those reasons, I think, are personal matters that I tend to respect as private unless I'm told otherwise.  My guess is that the only person who really knows why Aaron Lafitte left the College is himself.  Similarly, if CP Porter has also left he's probably the only one who really knows why.  It isn't fair to those kids to speculate on what may have taken them away from Wabash...I just hope that they are doing well for themselves presently.

Well said, Wally.

So, how is everyone feeding their sports addiction while we wait for spring practice to get under way?

I'm occupying my time playing arm chair general manager/manager for my beloved Chicago White Sox.  Long before I ever knew who or what a Little Giant was, I was rattling around the concourses of Comiskey Park with my father.

You can't beat fun at the old ballpark!

Absolutely well said, Wally. I accept your reprimand with good grace. I was just being purile again, late at night. Cabin fever.

Very well done, Wally.  Oftentimes, a myriad of circumstances can interfere with the better of expectations.

You know, when I studied if kids who came in to play football stuck around on campus after they decided to give up the sport, I found that a lot of football players didn't transfer even if they quit the sport. So, it truly was choosing the school to play football instead of choosing to play football at school.

Of course, that's when I had easy access to the data.

I've seen that too, and ideally, that's the way it should be.  However, it also works the other way and if a player finds that the football program at the school he initially chose isn't working out for him, I don't believe that it is wrong for him to pursue changing to another school.  While all of us are in agreement (because we're DIII supporters) that the main purpose is obtaining one's education, certainly pursuing one's dream of continuing their football career is part of that as well.  (I'm not saying you were saying different, but just sharing my own opinion on this general subject).

QuoteI know I was at the Bell game in '04 and he just wasn't moving with the speed and panache that I had come to expect. Other than throwing a halfback pass to Harbaugh for a touchdown he was a non-factor. When he left the field, either with the offense of when replaced he just walked to the bench, slowly, and kept to himself.

That was Aaron's personality.  If he wasn't playing, he kept to himself.  He was the same way in the "03" season.  Aaron is a very quite person.

As far as ASU went, there were allegations against him.  Again if you know Aaron, you  would find them hard to believe.  Nether the less, he left the school.

I have heard there is a possible reunion with a former coach in the state of Kansas.

What ever may happen, I wish the very best for Aaron.  He is a very nice young man.  As always.

Not certain whether it's the same guy, but there is an Aaron Lafitte showing up on the roster of the Peoria Punishers which is part of a semi-pro league out of Arizona.

I would say yes.  Matches his size and age.  Guess he won't be going to the reunion.  Wishing him the best.

After reviewing the site.  It is a amatuer league.  Maybe the reunion will still take place?

A couple other comments on Lafitte.  Still incredible that Coach Ward landed him as he was named the 5A Arizona Player of the Year his senior year - his numbers were sick too - something like 35 TDs, 2,500+ rushing...etc.

They honestly thought he would rush for 2,000 as a Sophomore after an incredible camp up to his last run in the Red & White when he was tackled by Aaron Selby.  I remember seeing it and immediately knew it was bad.  In fact, how much did that 1 play from the red & white impact CC's worst year at Wabash?  It was a very complex, nagging injury that was difficult to diagnose and it took its toll on everyone.  Aaron was frustrated, the coaches were frustrated, his parents were frustrated...  It involved his Achilles and his ankle and literally stayed with him all year.  He'd try to come back and then have a set back.  It had to be very tough on him.

What a find seeing him on that Semi-pro roster.  I  had heard as recent as this Winter that he was an absolute beast and still hoping to play more ball.  I would love seeing him get back in school and get his degree - and, if it resulted in playing NAIA ball for a guy named Ward...even better.

Finally got to meet Coach Raeburn - I like him a lot and I think he will do very well at Wabash.  Bring on Spring Ball!

BB#16- thanks for the great update and the amazing recall. Since I'm in the gloomy shade of the Northern pines, I don't get to see things like the Red&White. Ironicallly, didn't Aaron Selby break his leg later that year? Then Tim Parker went out for the year (and still made 1st team all NCAC) and that was the story for 2004. I'm sorry to see both Aarons-Lafitte and Selby leave Wabash. They were both keepers.

Selby has a no miss with Coach Creighton at Drake.  GA job, gets his MBA paid for, and makes more money.  He will be a good one for sure.  Congrats to Aaron #38.

Selby did break his leg that year, big blow to the Bash D (I think the week before the Wooster game) - Knez stepped in and gained valuable playing time.  Man, that year was just a bummer flat out.

PK12 - no joke bro on the Raeburn comment.  He'll do well - 110% football coach and I really sense he realizes his opportunity.  He was extremely limited at Coe in resources and now its a new game.  I am glad the staff is finalized.

anybody got the dirt on what Kellen Lewis did to get booted out of spring practice? I did an exhaustive 5 minute internet search and couldn't find anything... ;D
