BB16,
I found it here

When will Wabash, Wooster, Oberlin, AC, and OWU have theirs done?  I found Mount Union's they look to be pretty Young next season.  Will this be the Year Wabash finially gets by them?

Oberlin changed it's stance towards athletics about 5-6 years ago, and now they want to compete. They believe it's good for the students. They should be competitive in the future, although they have a lot of holes to fill this year.

Young yes, but unusually experienced for their youth. Blowouts allowed the backups to gain large amounts of varsity playing time. Sometimes more minutes than the regulars got. Some of those players will not return to the same positions this year, but most will. If MUC is vulnerable this year, it wont be because of inexperience. You better look for other flaws to exploit. See ya in the playoffs!  ;)

Bishops usually have the preview out right before the season......the QB situation has more depth to it than most realize. Frosh QB phenom Mike Fisher might not be available....possible medical. I hope to see one of his HS coaches next week. Looking at the Lindy top D3 picks...North Carolina Wesleyan has come from a start-up program just a few seasons ago to a possible southern power.

The folks at Lindy may want to reconsider. NWC has come a very long way and had some notable performances in a very short time since their startup year, but they are far from a southern power.

Last year all the pieces came together and it was their time to shine. But they're losing at least 11 conference honorees to graduation, as well as their two top quarterbacks. I'll be surprised if they're higher than fourth in their conference this season, let alone trying to be a regional player.

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

Actually, the folks in the front office are probably going to have me on the ODAC this year for Kickoff, so I can spout off about.....um, I mean, discuss......any other conference all I want.  ;D

Wabash first game is with Chicago.  Does anyone have any info on Chicago?  Coach?  Decent team?

wabco-
Wabash opens the schedule @ Denison this year.  The home opener is indeed against Chicago.

The Maroons have won 8 games over the course of the last two years, but their list of victims is pretty short and not particularly distinguished:
- Concorida (Ill.) twice
- Eureka twice
- Macalester twice
- Northwestern (Minn.)
- Lewis & Clark

Chicago is winless in the UAA over the last two seasons.  I don't know what's coming back for Chicago, but my guess is that Wabash will be a pretty heavy favorite when Chicago comes to town.

Wabash's second game is with U of Chi-opener is at Denison. I raise the question on the UAA board a bit ago; whether ANYONE from Chicago had ever contributed. There was a nice reply from a Chicago person under the name and style of "Monsters of the Midway" with some good information about the status of the program.
Wabash last played Chicago when they were in the Big Ten (1939) shortly before Robert Maynard Hutchins pulled the plug on football. We had an interesting discussion about that for a while.
As a Wabash alum who went to the U of Chi Law School, I look forward to the rivalry.

A very safe bet. DPU played Chicago from 2001 or 2002 through 2006 season. Maroons struck me as having some capable players...but not very good teams. Aside from the wins, you should enjoy the series as Chicago has a nice D III athletic complex, historic campus and, of course, it's a chance for a weekend in the Windy City every other year...

It'll definitely be cool to take a visit to Stagg Field next year, but beyond that I'm not a huge fan of this series.  Non-conference games against teams like Franklin and even Millikin (to use the 2007 schedule as an example) benefit the Little Giants more than games against Chicago do.  Chicago gets the benefit of upgrading their schedule from games against Northwestern and Lewis & Clark and they finally get to fill out a 10-game schedule (if they wanted to...seems they've only got 9 scheduled this year).  This agreement with the UAA benefits the UAA far more than it does the NCAC.  There are definitely teams within the NCAC that I think this arrangement is great for (namely anybody who has been scheduling non-con games vs. other NCAC teams...shame on you), but it isn't great for everybody.  I'm a little honked off at the fact that they've scheduled another two years of the agreement before even one season of the agreement has been played...I would have liked to see it in action for a year or two before signing up for more.

But such is life...the schedule is what the schedule is and Wabash can do nothing more than play the teams that line up against them each week.

Chicago is on par with Denison, Kenyon, and Oberlin.

Something to do with their academic calendar limits them to nine games.
