Great to see Garcon made the Colts.  There is another very fine Div II player on the Colts ... now on the coaching staff ... Pete Metzelars.  In looking at the Div III main page there is a discussion of Div II players whgoi have made the NFL and their longevity.  There is a reference to Matt Turk (Wisc. Whitewater) who is entering his 14th season in the NFL ... now with the Huston Texans.  If memory serves, I think Pete was 14 seasons or perhaps more in the NFL.  Am I correct or is memory bad?

Good reception, Wabco.  Pete played sixteen seasons in the NFL, after being drafted by Seattle in 1982.  His most prolific years were spent with Buffalo, prior to being picked up by Carolina in their expansion draft and then finishing his last two with the Lions.

Not sure, but still think he holds the tight end record for 212 games played.

235 games played in the League for Metz over 16 seasons.  A solid career to say the least.

Wasn't Tom Arth on the Colts roster for several years?

Arth was on the practice squad for one season, I think. Maybe IR one season and the practice squad the next.

As usual us Wheaton fans will be looking for a full report of standouts after this weekends scrimmage in Crawfordsville. So make sure you guys look at the bad guys a litttle too.

should be a great prep for both teams. Here's to no injuries and great experience to prepare for their week 1 matchups.

This doesn't count in the standings so you're not the bad guys this weekend.   :)

This is going to be my first glmpse at the new look Little Giants...I'm sure there will be plenty of post-scrimmage chatter around here.

From Coach Raeburn's blog on Wabash website it sounds like our defense might have to carry our offense a little bit early in the season.  Six turnovers and several pre snap penalities during the red/white scrimmage and sounds like offense a little unsure at times on what they were supposed to do.  That is to be expected with a new system and new terminology.  Also our WR's don't have nearly the experience as groups in the past.  I am sure this is something that will be taken care of with more time and practice together.  Sounds like our defense though should be ready to go so hopefully we can lean on them early in the season.

Fijidoc,

I think it just hit me who you were.  Do you wear about a size 48-50 suit jacket?  You are probably wearing the red Under Armour short sleeve shirt too.  If so, I nailed it.   ;D

This weekend should be a really good test.  I expect significant progress from the red & white, to the Wheaton scrimmage, and through the early weeks of the season.  Hudson has had a really good camp and he has some talented WR's.  It also sounds as if we have a couple of Frosh that may be pushing to see the field which is great.

Check out Whitehead's leg on field goals - he could be a nice weapon for us.

Seems like our strength will certainly be both fronts, I hope they play well Saturday.

The word I get out of C-Ville is that the Offensive and Defensive lines are very solid and ready.  The system and the game reps will come quickly.  CC filled the boat up with a ton of talent sitting in the wings waiting for their chance.   This team may need a game or two to get used to things.   But with Denison, Chicago U & Kenyon to start the year, they should do just fine.  They will need to be ready for the Gheny, Wash U & Witt stretch.

I am glad we don't open with Franklin this year.  Rupp and this years Franklin team are the real deal.
