The scheduling changes every few years.  It's also why Wooster doesn't play Hiram at all, playing Denison instead.

Historic Selby Stadium will have lights for games as soon as $300,000 is raised.
The wall is tumbling down too. A more, less intense fence should go up.
If it is done right...Selby could be THE premire D3 venue.

So scheduling allows Wooster to entertain OWU two years in a row?  Do not understand.  OWU played at home last week, didn't they?  Is Selby being refurbished?  crwu70, is it really that simple?

wally_wabash

It is that simple.  I believe Allegheny is hosting Witt for the second straight year this season as well.  I'm sure you could go back and find one or two occurrences of this every time the schedule gets reset.

Many of the Bishop athletic sites will benefit from the monies raised from the Branch Rickey Drive. Selby needs some work, the field is only a few years old, and the mentioned lights & wall/fence will also happen. I heard the pressbox might have some changes too. The lights will allow OWU to expand the use of the facility and hopefully draw area HS and state playoff games. If Ohio State is in Columbus at 1pm then OWU can flip to a 7pm KO....a possible draw to attend Bishop football.

Still trying to figure out where Oberlin found their game.  Honestly, didn't give them a snowballs chance in hell.  Trying to tell myslef W&J was pulling punches or...  hell, this is college football nobody pulls punches with the game in question that late.  I don't care how you spin it, wakeup call...  the Yeomen aren't playing for mediocrity.

Denison comes out and wins.  And with a day like I've not heard of since Tommy Frazier and Brooks Bollinger played...  in the same game?!?  Coming into this season have forbid myself from looking at the Denison roster, but how many of their formidable Oline from last season return?  Just keep flashing back to their contest with Kenyon and an ATN I believe article.

Wooster done got salty with arguably the nations top rushing attack.

WTH, what do you guys think this is, the OAC or something?

Was thinking to myself,  RHIT wins a shootout with Earlham, but ehhh it's just Earlham...  Do we have to take note here too...  Is this shootout different than the Manchester shootouts of years past?  Seem to remember RHIT being pretty competent defensively, even if their coach is a former fancy pants receiver type.

Let's hope a rising tide lifts all boats.  Seriously, the Terrier's just won a season opener.

Even Kenyon got in a track meet of sorts with CWRU.  Score came out flopped at 62-26, but pushed the Spartans to the point of injury.   Wouldn't mind seeing this game at the Stagg versus University of Chicago next week.

Now that the season is under way, I thought I would check in and see how things were going.  After seeing the results from the opening weekend I had the same thougts as you with regards to the OAC, MacLeod!  :D

Seriously though.  That was a pretty good opening weekend for the NCAC!  Lowly Oberlin takes PAC powerhouse and favorite to the ropes before succoming in the 4th quarter to what I would have considered a monumental upset!

Wooster goes on the road and lays the wood to Waynseburg who was picked to finish 2nd in the PAC behind W&J!  And they did it by not only keeping Heller under 200.  They held him under 100 for the first time as a collegian!

Witt seemed to have a rather ho-hum win.  But it was a win nonetheless.   And Allegheny's win looked pretty good as well!

And then there's the Pups!  They might have pulled off  the highlight win of the day for the NCAC!

Nice showing by the conference winners in the opening weekend!  Let's see if they can carry that momentum over into week two!

Wabash played at Witt two years in a row a while back too.

I'm making the trip back to South Bend this Saturday for the Michigan game, and was hoping that a few of you might have some insight as to how to make the most of our game day experience at Notre Dame.  We're staying in Chicago (I couldn't stomach the $350/night it took to book a room at the South Bend Days Inn) and heading in early Saturday morning, so any info you'd like to pass along, from parking, to tailgating, to "must-see" things on campus, would be appreciated.  Feel free to send me a PM if you'd rather do that than post.

Thanks for your help, and good luck to your teams this season!

ND/Michigan?  [/shudder]

I think the best way to spend that gameday would be to skip South Bend and come watch Purdue get quacked in West Lafayette.    ;D

If you're not bent on D-I, you could always stay in Chicago and catch Bethel/Wheaton....they're probably about as good as ND and Michigan.

So true.  Had I known the Irish were going to look that bad against SDSU I would have waited to buy my tickets...  Thankfully the purpose of this trip is not to see the game of the century :D  My brother's turning 40 and is a big Michigan honk, so it's more one of those excuse to roadtrip kind of things.

Some interesting developments on the 2-deep.

Why should you go for it on 4th down?

BashBro,

Curious to know what you think jumps out?  On D:  Like Banach & Peterman at Safeties in Tampa 2.  Huge corners in Slack (6'2") and Schweigel (6'4") - looks like Watson has held off CJ Gum.  Bubba & Kennon are super lean and should fly off the ball.  Gangloff should be a tough run stopper in the middle.  #2's are interesting - there are some good players there.  On O:  O-line is beastly and could be the heart & soul of this team - as big as we have ever had and experienced.  No real surprises.

I would have to think the Denison center (5'9 220) is in for a long afternoon!  Bash will have to contain Barnes and get some hits on him when he runs.  I am anxious to see what our young WR's can do.

2008 Captains:  Bubba Lange, David Mann, Brock Graham, & Tony Neymeier.

Go Bash!

wabco

Excited about the captain choices ... especially Tony and Brock ... 2 Michigan guys !  Watch Tony direct the O line ... he is the Peyton Manning on the line of scrimmage.

wally_wabash

Can you imagine being a 5'9, 220 lb freshman and you've got Gangloff and Kennon lined up over your shoulders?  Yikes.  Kennon had a huge game against Denison last year (3 sacks).  I'm guessing Barnes won't be spending as much time in the pocket this time around...onus will be on the ends and LBs to keep him in the middle of the field.

Exactly - outside containment will be the key to this game defensively.  Keep Barnes between the hashes where he can't get a head of steam.  If he gets in open space, that will be trouble.

That said, let's score early and often and then score some more.  That way if Barnes gets his, we'll still exit Granville with a W.
