Quote"PS. Kudos to my Wabash friends for a welcoming tone towards a new and enthusiastic Woo poster. Some have been a little less gracious in the past and it can be a little intimidating to face both criticism and the unquestionable team spirit of the Bash boys."
Just for you to know...Wabash men don't discriminate in ripping on people. We rip on our own as well. I posted a post a week or so ago....which was an off the cuff comment that hadn't been researched at all...and I got blasted (and deservedly so)....so don't feel bad. Wabash men are trained to "think critically"...sadly that can come off as critical in a bad sense. However, you are right about the Wabash team spirit...Wabash Always Fights.
Umm...also...we're Wabash men...the boys go to school 30 miles south of us.  ;)

We left the game at halftime, it was 21-0.  Nice INT return for a TD.  It started thundering and they cleared the stands and put on a 30 minute lightning delay.  We had other things that we had to do so we went about our business.  The no huddle did it's job, the Maroons defense was not able to catch it's breath.  Defense had a few issues early with their run game but adjustments and injury to Parks made a big difference.  Was pretty good game to see and a good crowd there for our opener!!

I was in a similar situation and had to leave at the half as well.  I would appreciate reading some thoughts on the second half from those who saw it.  I thought Wabash played well in the first half but was still vexed by some mental mistakes, especially penalties.  Hopefully, we will have to have the bugs worked out soon.

Bottomline:  Our defense has to improve a lot if we are going to repeat this year.  I am convinced that today's score would have been different if their #1 running back wouldn't have gone down early.   Wabash would have still won, although they probably wouldn't have rung up 49.

A team like Chicago cannot lose their best player and compete with a team like Wabash.  The Wash U game, a week before Witt week, now has become even a bigger game on our radar.

All and all, you can't complain about a 49-7 win.  WAF.

With home games against Witt and Wabash, the road to the NCAC championship goes through unbeaten Hiram!?!  :-X

Back from the Hollett...I come away very impressed with the Little Giants.  I realize that the opponent was overmatched, but it is refreshing to see Wabash be able to run the ball effectively.

Chicago had a tough time making first downs for most of the game...nice job defense.

I don't really know what else to say about a 49-7 game.  The score was pretty indicative of how the game went.  I don't think we know quite how good this Wabash team is and we won't get an idea for another couple of weeks.  From what I've seen, the LGs certainly aren't perfect, but I do think that they can be very good.   The offense is a bit more balanced than it has been and I think the defense is coming around (the D really cleaned up the penalties this week).

What does have my attention is that Witt/WashU score.  Washington will be a tough, tough game the week before Wabash goes to Springfield.  I don't think that game "looms larger" than the Witt game though...do keep in mind that the Washington game isn't a conference game (it isn't even a regional game for that matter so it's almost negligible for the pool C criteria as well).  You definitely want to win them all, but the result in St. Louis doesn't really help or hinder the goal of winning the NCAC championship and the automatic bid to the postseason.

WashU pulling off a win like that is nothing new.  Last year they beat CCIW champ North Central at North Central.  WashU and Witt will be two tough back-to-back road games for Wabash.  I don't think we'll learn too much about how good Wabash is from the next two games against Kenyon and Allegheny, but we'll learn a lot from WashU and Witt.

It's always a good day when your QB throws 3 picks and you still win 20-2! Wooster's D stood strong once again and had 5 take aways making a total of 11 in 2 games. The 2 points came on a blocked extra point returned to the end zone. Wooster has yet to allow an offensive touchdown in 2 games. As far as OWU.......they have a nice hard hitting defense, it's just a shame their O could'nt help them out a bit. Holter looked a bit sluggish trying to force a few passes that wern't there, but over all we got the W and take our 2-0 record to Denison next weekend under the lights. Good luck to Woo next week and OWU on the rest of their season. Go Scots, 2-0! ;D

One note from the Witt game is that Huffman went out with a shoulder injury in the third quarter. Hope he is ok.
