"One touchdown (vs. CMU) and one safety (vs. Wooster) accounts for OWU's 9 points"

It was a blocked extra point returned for 2.......not a safety.

according to Denison's website on Piper field it seats nearly 3,000 people

The stands were filled and they were also standing everywhere on both sides. It was awesome!   Too bad Shepherd did not get to play much in front of his "hometown" crowd.

Sadly, Wabash has lost one of our biggest fans...Ginny Hayes passed away suddenly over the weekend.  A big loss to the Wabash family.

I remember as a player during my 4 years, her and her late husband Bill, would write us (the team) a handwritten good luck note prior to every single game...every week it was posted.

Ginny will be missed greatly.

I guess Sheppard has been running around on a bad ankle.....and with Holter and Bush running wild, they are trying to keep him healthy. He did have a nice TD run though.

Wabash moves up to 7th in this week's poll and garners 4 more points than last week. Of course, stats and rankings don't mean squat...it's the scoreboard that tells the tale. Just ask Franklin...that's why they play the game.
This from the Allegheny football website
Despite being outgained in first downs, passing yards, total offense and time of possession, Allegheny College knocked off the visiting Oberlin Yeomen, 24-13, to improve to 2-1 overall, 1-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference. Oberlin drops to 0-3 on the year and 0-1 in the NCAC. The Gators managed just 214 yards total offense against a team that had given up an average of 458.0 yards in the first two games, including a league-high 335.0 yards through the air, and had surrendered an average of 48.5 points. Meanwhile, Oberlin posted 326 yards total offense, including a season-high 254 yards through the air, but were held to their lowest points of the season.

Hoping Hudson, Lemond, Rode, Chambliss and crew will have a big day this Saturday at homecoming.

Yes BB16, Ginny Hayes was one of the most gracious ladies I've ever met. Ginny and Bill were great supporters of anything Wabash. I agree...a great loss to the Wabash community.

Good catch....I should have double checked that before I posted.  Either way, those points weren't scored by OWU's offense which is the take home point.

It is good to hear about the atmosphere at Denison on Saturday.  This week is going to be tough for the Big Red, but I hope the fans keep coming out to watch the Big Red this season.  They'll win a fair share of their games in the second half of the season.  If they can keep the students excited about Denison football, then hopefully they can get prospective recruits excited about coming to play at Denison and then hopefully that will keep Denison on the upswing.  So many times we see teams from the bottom half of the league jump up and have a good season (usually with a strong senior class), finish 3rd or 4th in the league and then regress the following year.  It would be great to see Denison be able to get some traction, stay competitive, and continue to improve.

Which begs the question . . . which is more embarrasing?  :P
Long shall we sing thy praises, Old Wabash

Black n Gold

Both are pretty embarrasing in a sense.........just look out for Wooster my friend.

I saw a lot of shotgun at Selby...to describe the Bishop "O", is it a wing-t, gun? I am not sure what it is, other than an offense that can't score. Don't forget, Witt played without 8 starters. I thought the game vs COW was huge because OWU had 2 full weeks to prepare for it....but, now the Oberlin game is the measuring stick. GO BISHOPS

Wing-shooting's like that - not everything is like Lone Oak Farm near Delaware.

Some days there's too much cover, and on another the wind direction's wrong.  Perhaps the glasses fogged over, sights were knocked off-kilter, or the wrong loads were chambered.  Sometimes, that dog just don't hunt.

Then, there are those few special days etched into memory - all of the outliers and corollaries of Murphy dissipate - right place at right time.  It's a reason to invest and return - a perpetual series of occassions for hope.  ;)

Oops - sorry folks.  All this talk of shotguns, wing Ts, and Single Wings got me thinkin' teal and grouse instead of gridiron.   ;D  Dang, I miss the north!

That I'd say is a tad understated.  I'd say at least 3,000 maybe even 3,200.

The total attendance reported was 3950.  I think more than 3,000 were seated.
