Back from the Hollett....I'll try to be gentle.  There isn't a square inch of real estate on Allegheny's hindquarters that didn't get stomped in today.  There really isn't another way to say it that accurately conveys just how dominant the LGs were today in front of a massive Homecoming crowd.  At the point that Wabash went up 27-0, the total offense tally was 228-27.  Allegheny had no first downs at that point (although they would finally get a first down with just under 3 minutes to go in the first half).

Hudson was good but not great today.  Then again he didn't have to be.  Wabash racked up well over 200 yards rushing on the #8 rushing defense in the nation.  That Wabash run game looks really good to me.  Even with a so-so completion percentage day, Hudson had 4 TD strikes so it wasn't all bad.

The defense was great today.  Kennon was disruptive (tipped a pass that got intercepted, 2.5 TFL, 1.5 sacks), the secondary's tackling was sure and the run defense overall was stellar (36 rushing yards total for the Gators).

Oh, and for all of you penalty watchers out there...4 for 31 yards today.  I hope that's passable.   ;)

On to Wash U. next weekend...should be a stiffer test, but we said that this week and some of the luster has been taken off with Wash U. dropping a game to Rhodes today 28-10.  Wabash hasn't taken anybody for granted yet this year...I wouldn't expect that to start next week.

NCAC finals:

Wabash 48, Allegheny 7
Carnegie Mellon 23, Kenyon 12
Wooster 16, Earlham 14
Witt 44, Hiram 7
Oberlin 28, OWU 15
CWRU 45, Denison 14

Some quick thoughts:
- If a 10-7 halftime deficit at Denison last week raised some yellow flags for Wooster, needing a late 4th quarter FG to beat Earlham at home raises some serious red flags.  Good teams don't need 4th quarter field goals to beat Earlham at home.

- That sound you just heard is OWU football hitting rock bottom.

- In a more serious note, the Oberlin's athletics website reports that RV Carroll left the game in the 3rd quarter "with a severe knee injury".  Huge, huge blow for Oberlin if he has to miss any extended time and the tone of the game story would make it seem like he won't be back any time soon.  Very unfortunate for RV and the Yeomen.

Dannies get spanked 55-13 by Millsaps and in the 5th week of the year, their playoff chances are done

Really?  Done?

I mean, it's not likely, but that's a strong word, isn't it?

Well, given the annual loss to Trinity that is still coming it's safe to say that  2 losses and 3rd place in the SCAC makes DePauw not playoff material.  Again.

A win is a win.............and Wooster is still undefeated. They came out flat today, very flat. Sheppard is said to be out for at least 3 weeks with a leg injury, but little Dajaun Bush picked up the slack racking up 173 yards on 21 carries. Robert Flagg also had 2/ 60+ touchdowns called back on stupid penalties which plagued the Scots the whole day. Kerns came up firing as he always does, but the Scots D was able to pick him off 3 times today. For some reason Jordan Ferns  still isn't seeing the field (hopefully this isn't an attitude issue). The Scots need his speed and big body out on the field. But if they plan on not showing up next week like they did today.....the Scot faithful might as well just stay home and not waste the gas up to Cleveland next week. Strap it up boys and get your heads on straight!

Go Scots! 4-0

Alright.  Won't even bother playing it then.  Go ahead and chalk it up as an L.

Butler defeats Drake this afternoon.  Hmmm.

Wes - Done may be a little strong, but losing 55-13 doesn't look good either.

Wally - Great report from Hollett.   The scene was a similar one on the video feed that was better today.   How great was it to see Sobecki back out there tearing it up?
Why should you go for it on 4th down?

Ouch. Looks like CC has a lot of work to do.

I know Oberlin is not as bad as they once were, but has there been a lower point for OWU football in the last 20 years?  For such a good school, how is it that they can't get the players that can put them in the top half of the conference?  Under the same coach, there was a time that this program was a contender for the NCAC every year.

One last note from today's Gator-stomp in C'ville...if you're big time underdogs on the road, it's probably not a good idea to give the home team a reason to embarrass you.  The lesson for future visitors to C'ville: Don't spit on the "W".  Your job is hard enough as is.   :)

What a performance! It was the smoothest game that I have heard the LGs play, on both sides of the ball, since the Monon Bell clash in 2002 (35-7; Knott to Short) and Wittenberg in 2003 (41-14 and not that close). As they say in pinochle-"never touched them".
This team is creating something-the next 2 weeks will tell.

Wes- I had it in mind to write a post saying it was a shame that DePauw was not considered more highly in the Poll with a 3-0 record, with a schedule not significantly weaker than Wabash's. Only 1 point in "others receiving votes". I guess you can kiss that goodby. As they say-"Il y'a fait rien" It don't mean nothing!

After being around Wabash football for over 30 years...today's game at Hollett was one of the best games I've seen a Wabash team play...and this Wabash team is very, very good. If Hudson had had a better first quarter and a couple of guys don't drop passes...the score could have easily been in the 60's. The defense was really good...especially the run defense. They hit hard and were really aggressive...much different from the last few years' defense at Wabash.
The O Line was awesome today...Hudson for the most part had tons of time to throw. The D Line was very quick and tough...
Any word on Brock Graham?
Wow...how about Evan Sobecki...what a run he had in that last series. I hope he stays healthy. He adds so much to the run game. It's so nice to get last year's leading rusher back.
Wabash has improved every week. Next week will be an even better test.
