Last year, Wabash's run defense at times was; well let me just say my family left the house on a couple of occasions.  ;)  Wooster ran all over Wabash last year to the tune of 236 yards.

I will go so far as to say that, I do not believe this productivity will be there against this years Hard Hat D.   Which will leave Wooster in a tough spot offensively.......

But back to the task at hand.... Wash U.
Why should you go for it on 4th down?

Black n Gold,

I didn't say that, not even close.  There is a lot of football to be played between now and then.  Wooster at Wabash is much better then playing at your place - past games prove that.  I just think Wooster was exposed last weekend.  We'll see.  As long as #7 doesn't return, I like our chances on October 25.   ;D

Although I am ashamed to admit this, Wooster is known to have let downs going into big games (Oberlin '03, Kenyon '05).  Hopefully this was the case against Earlham and Woo will rebound this week.  It would be nice to bring the fish back to Wooster.

I was able to attend the Denison game.  Woo looks to have a lot of talent on both sides of the ball.  However, I would like to see more fire out of the sidelines and and from those on the field.  There were a couple of nice hits when it looked as though the guys on the sidelines just found out Fluffy got hit by a car!  I realize they drove an hour and a half to stand on the sidelines, but come on.  It was a night game for cryin' out loud.  I would have gone nuts to be a part of a night game when I played.

Anyway, I digress.  I will not go out on a limb and declare Woo is going to walk through the next couple of weeks.  If they don't show up, they will get trounced.  I don't think that will happen though.  I know the guys coaching the Scots and I am confident they will have them ready to play.  I look for the games to be hard fought.

Go Scots!  Bust out the body bags!

There's a really cool story featured on the front page about the Carleton/St. Olaf game.  If you're like me and like to read about the traditions that go along with some of small college's rivalry games, you'll enjoy reading about The Walk after the Carleton/St. Olaf game.  Fun, fun stuff.

Reading this board sometimes, I wonder if some Wabash posters ever really read anything but their own narcissistic posts.

Bashbacker #16: I have written several lengthy and insightful posts regarding Woo, to include one about the Earlham game.  The post included some strong concerns that were based on observations from actually being there. Guess you missed it.

wabco: your testosterone like chest pumping isn't surprising, we've been down this road before.

So, let's get real. I NEVER make statements I can't absolutely guarantee. As has been pointed out, on any given day in the game of football, you might have to eat crow. Just ask Witt. I am sure they didn't expect the outcome of the Washington game.

Case, Wabash, and Woo have had pretty light schedules to this point, none more challenging than the other. Case, Wabash, and Washington may indeed beat Woo. HOWEVER, I have actually seen Woo play this season from camp through Earlham. The defense has hung tough, very tough. Consistently. The offense has the ability to be very tough as well.  They showed that in the Waynesburg game and early in the Denison game. IF they can rise to the level of the ability they are capable of, nobody is going to "monkey stomp" them. My frustration with them has not been because of lack of talent and ability; it's been because this team HAS the ability to have a fantastic season. Case beat a less talented Woo team last year by 13. If Woo shows up ready to execute, they can and will beat Case.

You know, I always cheer for Woo, even when things are tough like they were last year. But when the season ended, I cheered on Wabash to go all the way if they could. I don't put down teams in the conference when they are having a tough time. The guys on those teams are sweating in the weight room, working hard on the practice field, and stepping onto the field for competition just like all the players at Wabash. None of us are doing that day in and day out. I respect them when they are up and when they are down. I suspect most; if not all, Wabash players would respect them too.

GO SCOTS!!!!

Well said, Scot Lass !!!

Isn't it ironic they have BASH in their name. SOME (not all) of them live up to it so well.

I feel Case is better this year than last.  Also, they tried to give Wooster the game last year and still beat them by 13.

I know no game is an automatic win, but I feel Wooster has to do a lot more than simply execute to stay in the game with, let alone beat, Case.

ScotLas: Your insight & posts have been solid...keep up the great job.
You tell it like it is for your Scots..good & bad...and week in & week out, your there...Keep Fighting.
Regarding The Men of Wabash....They don't sugarcoat it & fire straight away.  Sure, at times they swagger a little to much, but, they are well informed and passionate about the LG's and they do have the largest & loudest voice on D3 NCAC.
We  live with it...they are not going away and the Wabash football program is only getting better.

I'll blow my own horn....One of the reasons I am in second place on picks (my all-time highest rank) is that with my OWU picks, I am going with my head & not my heart.

We are all passionate about our teams  and we don't need sugarcoating but we don't get obnoxious about it. We are also well informed also but don't have to let everyone know it everyday.

As far as them having the biggest voice.... they have run others away. People get tired of it.

There are some that are fine and respect others but then there are others..... it just gets old. That is why others don't post much.

Last year's game was nowhere as close as the score.  All of Wooster's points came off turnovers deep in CWRU territory (CWRU is currently third in D3 turnover margin).  The Scots managed just 9 first downs and 173 yards total offense.  Meanwhile Whalen alone accounted for 369 yards and the Spartans had 24 first downs and 452 yards.  The Scots longest drive was 9 plays-29 yards.

The win over Waynesburg suggested a much improved team, but then came word that Heller was hobbled.

I've made no bones about how I think about the Scots.  Starting with the Wabash game at the Papp last year, I've been holding strong that Wooster plays ridiculous defense.  If anybody wants to trace back to my post game report from that game last year, you'll find that I said that Wooster outplayed the LGs and Pynenberg saved the day.  The Scots have played really good defense ever since, including this year against a pretty mediocre schedule.  My concern this weekend is that Wooster just needed a partially blocked field goal to slip through the uprights to beat Earlham.  Good teams don't need fourth quarter points to beat Earlham.  CWRU has been demolishing the mediocre teams that they've been playing.  I have no doubt that CWRU hasn't seen a defense as good as what Wooster is bringing.  I also have no doubt that Wooster hasn't seen an offense as good as what CWRU will bring on Saturday.  My gut tells me that Wooster won't be able to score enough to keep pace with CWRU even if Wooster is able to keep CWRU well below their average.  As always, these games aren't played on paper, but on Wednesday paper is all we have.  So the onus right now is on Wooster to prove everybody wrong.  This conversation probably doesn't happen if Wooster won by the 30 points that they should have last weekend.  The result from Cleveland is going to be interesting.  I want Wooster to win...the NCAC needs this win.  I just wish I could count on it.

I am calling Bill O'Reilly to see if we can get ScotLas & the LG's on The Factor.... No Spin on D3 NCAC.....

In looking at the Wash U preview...looks like they have a young O-line starting 2 freshmen and 1 sophomore.  I hope the Wabash D front poses problems all day long.  Matt Whyde has really come on from the DE position and has played well with Kennon, Lange, and Gangloff.  The get off the ball in a hurry and really get after it.  I would think this will be a big advantage for Bash on Saturday.  Should be a good one.

Wally - did you see Brady Young's profile in the Wabash game preview this week?  Impressive.  Should get more touches this week too.

My part of the recent conversation really had nothing to do with points or performance, it had more to do with remarks that are right up there with things like.....I don't know.....somebody being idiotic enough to spit on their opponents field.

Woo clearly has not performed consistently on offense and I have been the first to point that out. Case and Wabash have scored more points against opponents very similar to those Woo has faced. Congratulations to one and all, each team has beaten teams they should have, some in a prettier fashion than the other. Comparing schedules and opponents, each team will begin facing a bit more of a challenge than they have faced till now. Should be interesting games.

Scot Lass nor anyone else has said that Wooster is going to have an easy game Saturday. She has been nothing but realistic and truthful. It will be a very tough game.

Case is good. Woo will play hard and they are kids who love the game and work hard and play hard.

We will not say that we are going to "monkey stomp" anyone. We have had ups and downs this season and we will see what happens Saturday.

I would suggest that Woo worry about Case and Wabash worry about "monkey stomping" their opponent.

I really hate it for you nice Wabash posters that some make those comments.

Go NCAC!
