Wow what a game.... shame i thought i could get some work at the office done while listening to the game.  Looking forward to Wally's breakdown with a live perspective.

Ask and you shall receive.   :)

Live report from I-70....first and foremost the one thing that people need to take away from this game is: WABASH ALWAYS FIGHTS.  Never, I mean never, doubt it.

For 55 minutes of this game the LG offense couldn't have beaten Oberlin today.  That is the absolute truth.  Hudson had a rough day, had Tigers in his face all day, sailed some balls....but when it was do or die, Matt made the throws that Wabash absolutely had to have.  Excellent redemption for #14 at the end of the game.

The defense played like MEN this afternoon.  What an unbelievable effort from those guys, especially the defensive line.  It is not possible to heap enough praise onto that unit today.  Without that group, Wabash has no chance to win.

The special teams units have been much maligned at Wabash in recent years, but you don't get more clutch that blocking not one but two field goals in the fourth quarter (either of which probably seal the game) and then getting a field goal of their own to cap the comeback.  Just an outstanding job late the game...and another redemptive effort after a couple of special teams miscues in the first half.

Really, I'm just stunned.  You aren't supposed to turn the ball over 5 times and win.  You aren't supposed to take 12 penalties for 104 yards and win.  And you're never supposed to do those things on the road, against a rival, and against a very good football team.  Somehow, Wabash survived.

I've got a couple more hours on the road to soak this in and try to understand what just happened.  Then it's time for a celebration (insert Dave Chappelle's Rick James photo here).  :)

Even if the Tigers manage to make it a close game, their place kicking woes will make it hard for them to win.

Checking out the stats from Wooster today, it appears that Holter had one heck of a game... and the overall stats weren't disimilar from results from St Louis, last week.  Should be a good one in C-ville next weekend, and look forward to ScotLass' assessment of the days' efforts.  Good game by the Scots!

But WAF!

Anyone ever hear the result of the Terriers and Quakers - nothing up on scoreboard (or Earlham's website)?

(I'm subbing for Mugsy on the CCIW pickems, as he has a newborn, and when there isn't a national 'top' game we think we'll get anywhere near balanced picks, tradition calls for a 'bottom' game - Hiram/Earlham was the 'winner'!  It worked, as Hiram was favored only 10-8.))

According to the Hiram website Earlham won 49-41.  :o

Thanks, guys!  I though of checking the Hiram site, but the game was at Earlham and I thought I remembered that Hiram's site 'never' updated football scores.  Was I misremembering, or have things changed now that they've won as many games as the previous 7 seasons combined?!

The Scots, who showed their potential at the beginning of the season, were back today and played to that potential. They really showed what they are capable of by playing a great game today and not letting the ridiculous decisions of the 2nd half against Case define their season.

The offense stepped up their game today and matched the defense in total effort. The defense was outstanding allowing a single TD. The second score came off an interception that was run back for 6. Special teams came through to block the extra point.

I'd put the Homecoming crowd and game atmosphere at Woo today up against anybody.
The house was packed to cheer on the Fighting Scots.

Statistically, Woo and Wabash played very similar games against Washington. I expect next weekend to be a hard fought contest with the team making the fewest mistakes being the victor.

It's going to be a fun game next weekend.  Wabash is playing for the championship.  Wooster is playing to supplant Wabash from the driver's seat.

I think if any of us Wabash fans learned something today, it is 1) comparing scores and results against common opponents means nothing on game day and 2) the team making the fewest mistakes doesn't always win.   :)

Next Saturday is going to be a lot of fun!
