They didn't after this game went to 2OT's last year, either.

Spud is also the real deal though.... I will give Tiger Nation that.   He has been saving their butt lately.

Why should you go for it on 4th down?

Spud is having a great year. This dude is really good. His lines have been sick.

Just got back from the impressive Wabash win over Wooster. They appear headed to the playoffs and another conference title.

However, we at The Paper of Montgomery County is in need of you Wabash former players, alumni, coaches and fans.

WE NEED YOUR HELP

We are putting together a special Monon Bell section (Yes, I know there are two games before that, but I have to get started now). We are looking for your best memories and/or best game and/or best experience and/or best play that you remember.  We also ask that you put your name on them and a contact number or email (Those will not be published, but we might have questions or need to verify something with you).

The edition will be available at the game so we are hoping for soem help. Also, if you have any old photos you would like to email us do so. Pass this message on to all the alumni and former players you know.

Send them to blewis@thepaper24-7.com

We have already received some, but we would love to have a lot more. Pass this on and see if we can't get 20 to 30 comments. Thanks.

St Scholastica may have its first win coming up ... leading the Trinity Bible 28 to zip at half.  Go Scholasts ... a win for Coach Carlson's essentially Freshmen group ..and in front of a home crowd.

0-5 and 3-3 aren't all that different when Sewanee swings the other way on you and you swap Macalester with Oxy.  It doesn't really matter.  Pretty dog goned embarassing whatever their record is.

I don't know what point you're trying to get across, but at this point in this football season, you're not going to convince me that DePauw is a worse football team than they were last year.  They struggled through this stretch last year, getting run up and down the field by Trinity and Millsaps, and winning entirely too close against Sewanee, BSC, and Colorado.  This is nearly a carbon copy what happened last year, in fact, with critical injuries coming at the same time in the same positions.

What I will believe is that your football team is a better football team than they were at this time last year by a SIGNIFICANT margin.  Frighteningly so, in fact.  It's going to be a long playoff run for your group yet again.  No reason to think they won't, assuming the NCAA doesn't screw you with the scheduling.  Still might even if they do.

And, on top of that, as I've said in this thread before, Coach Raeburn strikes me as the type who isn't going to let his group come out and play as poorly as Wabash did in the Bell game last year.  It just isn't going to happen.  Wabash will not be flat.  I'm just about willing to guarantee it.  That, combined with the fact that #31 isn't there to carry it 40 times, makes me very nervous.  Unless DePauw plays significantly better (specifically in the defensive backfield) in the Bell game than they have this entire season, Hudson's going to hang a bunch of points on 'em and do it in a hurry.  DePauw was able to show dramatic improvement in the Bell game last year.  This year, they'll have to outplay them while they're playing their best football.  I guess we'll see if that's doable or not.  I assume many folks think it's not, and probably for good reason.

EDIT: Reciprocated, bashbro.

WOW   The Warhawks lost to UW St.-Point.  What does that do for the rankings and the playoff positions?

Back from C'ville...and all kinds of fired up.  Wabash survives the WashU/Witt/Wooster stretch...it wasn't easy, but the reward is sweet.

I'm very impressed with the way Wabash bounced back after the Wittenberg game.  That first drive really set the tone...I believe Wabash rushed for more yards on their first two plays today than they did in 4 quarters at Witt.  That was extremely important.  And as the game wore on, I expected to see Wabash move to some play action off the success the run game was having and hit some big plays down the field.  But ER just kept pounding that ball right up the middle.  Over and over and over.  I can't remember the last time I saw a Wabash team just pound the rock right up the gut with this much success.  Ditto bashbro's comments about giant steaks for that offensive line....they were awesome today.

The defense was good but not great today.  There are definitely a couple of holes in the Cover 2 that teams are starting to pick at...hopefully the LGs can get that shored up.  Kennon was awesome again today causing all kinds of problems in the backfield.  DK only shows up with 2 tackles today, but he was a major disruption.

Wooster, I don't think is that far away from being a really good team.  I've seen today's game and the first half of their game against CWRU and the thing that really stands out to me is that they just aren't safe enough with the ball.  It's hard to be consistently good with so many dropped passes, so many balls being fumbled, etc.  Better ball security and Wooster is really good.  I thought they played a fast, hard hitting style of defense.  With so many players returning, I think Wooster will be a major challenger next year.  Holter is really good...but again, he's just got to take better care of the ball when he turns into a runner and I'm sure he will be more secure next season.

One win away from a 4th straight championship and a third playoff appearance in four years.  Cue up the Queen...I'm feeling good that next week will be the clincher.   ;)
