Sounds like ALL Wabash fans between 1996 and 2001.  :-[

Fixed for you.

Not everyone, Duster, was in despair. It's a dead even rivalry. It ebbs and flows. Some people actually understand that.

If it's okay Macleod's just gonna go back to posting Wally Gator pictures.

*Hides head in shame for bad post research*

And, wasn't being nostalgic...  thought the perspective was relevant to the conversation being had with Wes.

While suffering a childhood flashback (well, actually a bit after my time with "Magilla" - more of a Mighty Manfred the Wonder Dog type),
this was an interesting snippet posted by college archivist, Beth Swift...

I was making a joke.  As a student those years, I was pretty frustrated.  No need to get nasty about it.

Li'l Giant

Duster, I wasn't being nasty to you. It's all good. I hadn't seen a FIFY on this board, probably ever, so it was good to see one.

I guess last week wasn't a fluke.  Whitewater picked up another 1st place vote in the AFCA poll this week.

I guess last week wasn't a fluke.  Whitewater picked up another 1st place vote in the AFCA poll this week.

I think that's probably the same first place vote that they got last week...and I think the mystery is pretty much over as to where that vote is coming from.

Couldn't resist...

Wally Gator is a swinging alligator in the swamp.
He's the greatest percolator when he really starts to romp.
There has never been a greater operator in the swamp.
See ya later, Wally Gator.

Now back to the regularly-scheduled prelims for the Monon Blog Bash.

Two weeks in a row....Bishops are an "Even Pick"......
Bishops vs Quakers sorbet? Frozen yogurt?
How about .....ZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzz........
There is now (and has been) so much separation from
the 3W's and the rest of the NCAC....fighting for table
scaps has been the past-time for the Wesleyan's,
Earlhams, etc.

smedindy

This speaks to that OWU is the biggest disappointment in the NCAC, and Earlham is the biggest surprise.

Are there enough disgruntled people in Delaware that Hollway may be kindly escorted off the premises anytime soon?

BashFan74

Smeds and Eagle make good points.

So, with respect to OWU and Gheny -- what has been the shift?  For the benefit of the conference and rankings it's to everyone's advantage to improve the base level of performance

Have Witt and Wooster raised their game relative to these programs?  (Seems like they are holding their own.)

Is Wesleyan now losing out in the talent search?  Are Witt and Wooster grabbing more than their traditional share from the Ohio market?  Is Allegheny missing some in their recruiting area?  (We'll assume that Wabash's ascendency has not grabbed a large number of HS talent from their recruiting ground.)

Is it the coaching?  The staff at both programs has been in place for some time.  Has OWU's O finally run its course?

aueagle

BashFan74: Regarding market share, ie: Recruiting...The Bishops have always had athletes from eastern "prep" schools, small time Ohio HS programs.. not a base (small in numbers) I would consider to build upon. The rise of Otterbein, Case, Mt. St.J and other Ohio programs tells me that the other schools make a stronger pitch. I know that in Cleveland, Akron, Canton & Youngstown, OWU needs to be much more aggressive. A bigger, full-time staff is needed, but that comes with commitment from the top. Has the OWU "O" run it's course? The numbers & decline indicate that. The past few years has been deplorable....
wabashcpa: Sure, there are "disgruntled" but, OWU has never been a "football school"...it's tough get movement when the over-all athletic program status is very good, All-Sports Trophy, etc. So what do you do with a coach that has been entrenched for 20 plus years? The key to the future is the President & AD...and the group of former grid players who want the program to excell.
smedindy: Sure, I am disappointed....after 2 seasons of hearing a return to national prominence & power running games, tough defenses...talk becomes filled with "Hope & Change".....blah...blah...blah...Please! I've told you guys how I feel & how I think OWU can be positioned to be a very, very strong program...I Want Championships...and anything less is unacceptable.
