Here's something about Dan Whalen from the Wabash site that you CWRU guys might enjoy. Great story and obviously a great kid.

OK OK.... I'm voting for Whalen on my other computers.

I cast my vote for Whalen as well.

However, I'm super impressed with Micheli and his GPA given a Math and Physics double major.  :o

Great email.  Thanks.
Will be showing this on Thanksgiving Day to two young men coming out of high school who are being recruited by MAC schools, Div2 and Div3. Certainly something to think about.
Thanks Schwami.

D3_DPUfan,

Nice.  Hey, who do you guys play this weekend?

We sadly won't savor a squeaker of a win over an allegedly undefeated team (some conference!) last Saturday but recall with fondness the drubbing we handed your allegedly undefeated squad.  Good luck this weekend!  :)

Thnx for the Whalen support I'll scrollback up and + karma you.

Looking forward to a great football game Saturday!  Will have my boys and be hanging with #16 and Dickison. I sure hope we put more than 1500 in Hollet Stadium.

Sunny and 40 degrees is the forecast...niiiiice!!!!

Can't wait Bo Henry. We have got to get some folks in the stands.

DadofBashWarrior..

We have extended family flying in from Florida as well as many from Chicago area and some from Columbus coming in for the game.

Wheaton is ranked 199th in pass defense....just keep it away from Ittersagen...Kick away, Punt away, take him out of coverage

He is the most dangerous player!!!

Wishing you all a wonderful holiday season.

Very true, Wheaton is 199th in pass defense.  But there are some factors that play into that.

1. Wheaton faced the #2 passing offense in Cartage, who threw the ball 74 times for 465 yards in a 51-24 Carthage loss (which was even worse than the score indicated). Only a 6.3 yards per catch average.
2. Wheaton faced the #28 passing offense in Elmhurst (Wheatons worst game of the year by far)
3. Wheaton faced the #31 passing offense in Hope
4. Wheaton faced the #36 passing offense in Illinois Wesleyan
5. North Park kept their offensive starters in most of a game, while Wheaton was playing 2nd & 3rd string secondary.  Tack on an extra 150 yards...

4 games against top 36 passing offenses are going to skew your pass yardage per game rankings a bit.  While Wabash is ranked #76 in pass defense, the difference is only 48 yards per game difference.  Easy to get stuck on the 199th ranking...

Perhaps a better indication of Wheatons pass defense is the pass defense efficiency, which focuses more on how effective they have defended and not solely on yardage.    Wheaton is ranked 50th, Wasbash is ranked 35th.

That all said, if you are going to attack Wheaton, through the air seems the best option.  Should be interesting to see how it plays out.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.

Happy Thanksgiving, all!

Mugsy,

I'm not sure of the relevance here, considering they're playing a team that's ranked 23rd-- better than most of the teams you mention above. If good passing teams (including some not-so-good overall teams) have been able to skew stats then, well, that seems to suggest Wabash may have the same success.

With that said, however, and with no energy at the moment to go looking myself, I wonder what the combined passing stats are for Wabash against quality opponents. I'm guessing not 23rd best in the country.

I don't think I'd go comparing quality of opponents wheb creating/comparing stats if I were a wabash fan. Its pretty clear Bash will pass  As I have said before the key to the game for both teams is can they run the ball effectively.
