Good point. As a Thunder fan, we had a happy Thanksgiving just getting in to the field. Being in the final 8 is pretty amazing.  I remember following the LG's last year to this point and really jealous and disappointed Wheaton didn't play well enough at the end to get that chance. Playoff football is a great thing and we should all be glad we get to see it (at the same time disappointed when our teams don't advance!!)

On the HCAC board, there is a photo of the Franklin high school field and it looks pretty spiffy to me. Certainly no embarassment, as dpu d3 would have you believe. Besides, Franklin isn't that big a town that you would completely lose the campus atmosphere.
Being as how this is Indiana, and we were playing basketball, there would REALLY be some high school facilities to consider- there is a town in Southern Indiana with a population of 2500 that has a field house that seats 7000.

This story line really isn't worth keeping alive...but my comments have nothing at all to do with the quality of Franklin High School's field...If it's about going to a "spiffy" field as you put it, why not go to Center Grove...my point is a college football program in a late round playoff game is forced to play the game at a high school because it can't maintain it's own field and that is ridiculous.

For a story line not worth keeping alive your are sure doing a pretty good job of keeping it going.

In one of your previous post you said "The game was played November 10 for crying out loud. When's the last time you heard of something this ridiculous happening...even in high school??? ?"

I don't remember the Victory Bell Game being played on a Monday. To bad it wasn't it would have given that shameless maintenance crew at Franklin five more days to get the field ready for their playoff game this weekend. ::) Haven't they heard anything about miracle grow. ;D

If FC doesn't install a new field.   They can always hire a groundskeeper that knows about chinch bugs and manganese.

Why should you go for it on 4th down?

Outstanding...I agree.

UPDATE- Wabash's website in a December 3 story now says the new football turf will not be installed until the 2010 season.

Excerpts from phone conversation last night, regarding FC football and this weekend:

"Well, Bob, when I was at Franklin, all the games were played at the high school."  ;)  cave2bens "mother" - Franklin, '48

"At least you had a team worth watching - all we had were the ministerial, draft dodgers."  :D  cave2bens "aunt" - Franklin, '43

"Dammit - I can't hear any of this conversation!"  >:( cave's "uncle" - FC '41

You are wasting good space on Pat Coleman's server. Franklin's field is every bit as equal to Center Grove's.  I live here in Johnson County, IN. Obviously you do not.  What type of field turf is it that Center Grove has that Franklin does not??

Are you saying Wabash teams should henceforth be known as "Little Varmints"? ;D

BashDad

Blasphemy!

Sir, there is a 30 mile or so distinction between "always fighting" and "never quitting".

Mr. Ypsi

My humblest apologies! :-[

As an outsider, I forgot the distinction between 'always fight' and 'never quit' - they are easily conflated if not a part of the rivalry. :P

DadofBashWarrior..

Anyone listening to the Franklin-Wheaton game?
