I have a question? Who votes on the all-conference team? i was looking at this years team and how in the he** is the qb from moravian 1st team ??? i saw him play at the ursinus game one word terrible. i looked up his stats he did not beat a team with a winning record. in fact his numbers against the teams that ended with a winning record (-10yds) rushing, 51 of 108 passing (47%) completion, 7int & 2 td. not very worthy of all confernece. IMO Ian Mitchell and Santiago should have been 1 & 2

Good question:

I would tend to think either the coaches or the sports information directors, or maybe both. Do you think there was a little politics involved??? NAA they would not do that.

Pat Coleman

Would politics really favor a team that's new to the conference? That can't be very likely.

Pat/ Old,

I might not be the smartest, but I  felt that the politics of the game were surely at work when Santagoto, a 5'8' field general with a 10-0 conference record and a passing effiiciency record considerably better than the run of the mill, was SNUBBED and OVERLOOKED  on the all conference selections.

Let's get serious....

the Santagato oversight was absurd and inexplicable. He delivered all year long.

Muledaddy:

Every player on all the teams at every position could claim something different that they could have, should have, etc.
A person could have had a bad game, personal fouls, who knows. We can not see into the reasons only try to analyze them.

Players were selected and ego's were knocked down. But we live another day.

BITMAT.24CB

I have to agree with muledaddy. how is santiago over looked on the all conference team. everyone can claim something at each position, but it should be based on consistency at that position. not to knock the qb from moravian but there is noway that he is a 1st team all conference qb. imo to be all conference you have to be consistent against all of your opponents not beat up on the subpar teams (inflate your numbers) and have a less the mediocore performance against teams of equal or greater ability. santiago definitely was a intregal piece of the offense on the mules team. i just do not know who voted and what they based their vote on.

BTEXPRESS

I heard over the weekend that Dickinson is going to upgrade their football field by adding Field Turf and renovating their stadium this summer. I also heard Mulenberg will get rid of the Astro Turf and get the better turf as soon as next season. Muledaddy any truth?

muledaddy

Dear BT and BIT,

I managed to survive what can only be a new record for length of a post season banquet, probably somewhere around 4 hrs, but I guess an undefeated season makes every coach an orator. (Sincerely, I loved every minute of it and must make some allowance after a 106 year drought)
Oh yeah, the turf....scuttlebutt says we get the field turf by the summer, but seeing is believing since I didn't get a chance to corner my favorite Mule, athletic director Mr Sam (47 yrs with the school and going strong, at least quick enogh to give me a fake and split after the meal, before I could get to him.)
14 fine seniors honored...but I think we are going to be all right. The offense is just fine, and the replacements at the key defensive spots are hungry, fast and more than adequate. I still want to open on 9/6 with Wesley but its up in the air as I write....that's really why Mr. Sam ran like hell before I could get him, even skippping
dessert......new turf, a few new faces, should keep us trudging along in style, pulling our load.

The President of Dickinson Mention to me that they were getting new turf and lights. Plus the visitor stands are going to be upgraded. The Provost of Mulenburg said the new turf maybe about 2-3 years away at this point. I talked with both of them back in October.

muledaddy

Dear Old,
I pray that things have changed sufficiently to get the new turf NOW...this is the year...and will be the year...for the Mules, wtih their returning core strong, and the opportunity to get a start of season
game with Wesley, so lets hope that things fall into place...as they did last year..
and the Mules ARE DEAD SERIOUS about a REPEAT.

More to come..

muledaddy

To All others,

I am violating my cardinal rule, posting after I have posted but before anyone else has replied. I may be a tad boring, or dsardonic, causitic or just as stubborn as a
mmmm, but, Mcmillan speaks the truth in his latest season ending/review of 2007 article.
Thank you Keith for the kind words about  no 108 becoming no 8, the
we came from nowhere (not heard of preseason) recognition, but, most importantly, the commentary on Eric Sanagato, a pint sized field general who completes  over 64 per cent of his passes, manages the game and his Mules,
and unpretentiously  leads his team to a perfect 10 season, beats a tough Salisbury team, and is a tough out for no 5 Wesley..the possible preseason no 1 for 2008. My campaign for new turf is exceeded only by my wish for the Mules to have at Wesley again...this year in the centenniel will be even tougher than last..
our entire offense is back (minus 1 great tight end), our defensive core remains,
with a couple great linebackers and a super defensive lineman being replaced), but the gauntlet is thrown down NOW.........WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS...Fellow
Conference members, come and beat us........if you can...we will not go quietly

I love when the homer cheers for the home team... Keep it up Muledaddy
let the other banter back at you.. I just like the conference overall. Historic and all that..

muledaddy

Dear Old,

Thank you.I, too, love the conference. We visited most of the Pa schools and I was thrilled when  my
son narrowed it down to Muhlenberg, F and M, andGettysburg. Since then, I havegrownto love and
respect the entire conference, the other non conference schools I have seen, andd3 football throughout the nation.Iam thankful to be a parent of a player on a winning team right nw, but I am hooked for ife on
d3. This is the greatest competitionamong some of the nicest kids in the world. I am sorry I am such a homer but its really that i am just a grateful and happy man,who gets carried away somtimes with the joy of living.

Neckbeard

The Mules will have new turf come next season and they are looking at Wilkes for the TCNJ game that was dropped...apparently coach Donnelly and coach Hamilton had some sort of conflict over the dropping of this game...dont know what it was all about but Hamilton continuously said that the Lions were better than the Mules all year long and said that the Mules simply got lucky in beating them...both had good seasons its a shame that the game has to be dropped
